Title: [2017-04-19]You Can Now Pay Bitcoin for Parking at 27 UK Airports
Post by: White sugar on May 20, 2017, 02:38:44 AM
SkyParkSecure, an airport parking provider in the United Kingdom, is now accepting bitcoin for payments at a number of airports across the region in cities including London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Belfast.

Are you a frequent flier in and around the UK? A parking provider will now take your bitcoin. SkyParkSecure will automatically convert the fiat pricing of a parking ticket into Bitcoin for quicker and seamless payments directly from your cryptocurrency wallet.

Based in the North-West of England in Blackpool, SkyParkSecure doesn’t own or operate car parks but acts as a booking platform for airport parking and a host of other travel services including hotels and lounges. The parking provider claims to have facilitated over 1.6 million bookings on its website and ropes in customers with discounted rates.

Now, SkyParkSecure has laid claim to becoming the first independent UK travel company to accept bitcoin for airport parking.

This is a good news for people who travel and use airport parking in UK,and for sure something positive for BTC after last ransomware attacks which try to show BTC again in some bad light. But as we can read in article this decision by SkyParkSecure is comming after Top Airport Parking in US did the same thing in Denver International Airport, not only for BTC but also 25 others cryptocurrency.

This is just one more possitive step for BTC adaptation in everyday life :)

Okay, so it's not the actual ticket machines in the car parks that accept bitcoin, that would have been much bigger news.  You have to pre-book it through that particular company before you go.  Still progress, though.  Nice to see more real-world scenarios where we might spend our hodlings.

It's good enough IMO.  There won't be a lot of people desperate to spend Bitcoin right there.

As long as Bitcoin-accepting merchants are pretty scarce, the Bitcoin community will look for them even if they wouldn't normally spend their money that way.  This company will still get a fair bit of business from Bitcoin holders.

It's just a way of getting a bit of extra money on top of what you had before as you get some hype in the Bitcoin world.  It's just like restaurants that get good vegetarian/vegan options.

you'd have to be nuts not to pre book airport car parking. i flew with some friends a while ago and the idiots forgot to pre book. the parking cost more than double on the day.

and with confirmations and fees as they are i wouldn't want to be waiting around for a ticket from a machine.

This is great news, airport parking can be quite expensive so booking beforehand is a must and to be able to do it with bitcoin is good news.

amazing breakthrough, even if it is not actual ticket machines as mentioned above!
this is done not at one,but across 27 UK airports,so it is a network system that uses bitcoins
a step towards additional modules introduced within same system, too,if the experiment goes right we could see
public transport system, national rail etc. accept bitcoins in the near future
