Title: Anyone using the $80 Nvidia gt 1030 yet?
Post by: j_nelo on May 29, 2017, 02:34:21 AM
I am about a my second card an I am between this gt 1030 and the rx 550 I am not sure wich one is the best in nice hash the 1050 is superior to the rx 460 pd: I am limited with a giftcard of 100$ from amazon and I should buy I riser too... so I cant go ahead for the gt 1050 or rx 460 I am starting with this like a hobby so I was thinking a little rig of low profile card will be funny (in my country I pay nothing for electricity) is anyone can help I apreciate so much thank very much

If at all possible I'd strongly recommend saving for a 1060 or 570.  These "wntry" level cards don't have much hashing power, anything under the xx60/xx70 level cards aren't really worth it.

buy the 1050 nvidia, nvidia currently have more option than amd, which is stuck on monero and ETH, nvidia can mine many other algo with better profit, your gpu will not do much but it's a beginning, you should mine $30 a month or more with that if you are lucky with new coin, you can use those to expand your gear

I won´t take GTX-1030 because they have only 2 GB.

Take GTX-1050Ti with 4GB, this will ROI fast in small investments.

 :)

Could you recommend a full spec for that mining rig with 1050 TI

Could you recommend a full spec for that mining rig with 1050 TI

it´s quit simple:

Chieftek Minitower with 350W
ASRock H110 H110-DVS/D3
Intel G4400 CPU
2 x Kingston 4GB DDR3 Hyper-X
Intel SSD 120GB Serie 540
KFA2 (Galaxy) GTX-1050Ti

Software + Settings:

Win7_64pro
NV-Driver 382.33
Afterburner: Powerlimit 70%, Core +114, Mem + 347, Fan=Auto(=>63%)
NiceHash Miner v1.7.5.12 [one Core Cryptonight]

https://playground.aic-consult.de/pics/ming/H110N1050.JPG

=> 100 W constant from Wall (at 0.26 EUR/ct per KW/h) [= ap. 55 EUR/ct per day]
=> earnings around 1.67 EUR per day

... hope, this is detailed enought (pics on request)

 ;D

P.S. If you want to do it better choose B150M mainboard and two GTX-1050Ti ^^

Chieftek Minitower with 350W
ASRock H110 H110-DVS/D3
Intel G4400 CPU

KFA2 (Galaxy) GTX-1050Ti

Software + Settings:

Win7_64pro
NV-Driver 382.33
Afterburner: Powerlimit 70%, Core +114, Mem + 347, Fan=Auto(=>63%)
NiceHash Miner v1.7.5.12 [one Core Cryptonight]

Why 2x4GB RAM? 2GB is sufficient. Why 120 GB SSD? 32 GB is sufficient.. You can save almost 100 EUR on those and so you can buy another 1050 for this money and double the hashing power with no loss. Even 300W PSU will be good (but look for one that have at least  2x6 pin power connector)

I'm guessing he uses the computer for normal use. Hell if you really want you can run Linux distros off of USBs and shave off even more money. I'm guessing the PSU came with the case. For even cheaper LGA1151 builds G3930 is ok.

The gt 1030 2gb is only capable of a tiny 4.5mh/s haven't tested on bitcoin.

Woudn't it be ideal for cryptonight mining?

It's 64bit, should get decent hash rate for Monero, SumoKoin, Aeon

I'm curious too now.

According to gpuboss, they are comparable to RX 550: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-550-vs-GeForce-GT-1030

It's worth testing. I'm gonna pick some up.

I know I'm a little weird, but I love the idea of a silent rig running in a Core V1 Case.

Hi Guys,

I'm running 3 of these, all EVGA SC, Paid less than £70 each, so £206 total i think it was...uses less than 80 watt for all 3, and out performs my 1060 GTX 3GB which cost £220 and uses around 115 watt.

If you look around you can pick them up for less than £60, The EVGA is OK, but it throttles on certain algos (its a low profile design, so not much heat sink). The next batch will be full size, but try to find pics of the actual heat sink, cos under the huge plastic covers some of the heatsinks are very small....
Also they are easy to find 2nd hand, cos a lot of peeps bought them and have found the 2Gb is not enuff for their gaming needs, so i see quite a lot on gumtree going for £20-£35.
Don't get me wrong, they are certainly not a "beast" of a card, but at the right price a simple introduction to mining.
Besides i like having 3 instead of 1, cos i usually set 2 mining 2 diff coins, and that leaves the 3rd card for me to test new coins...

What is your hashrate on which algo, PowerLimit Core and Memory Clock?
How loud are they?

Agreed that you don't want to invest in a 2GB only card right now.  This will severely limit your options as well as any potential future resale value.

For just $80 more you can get the GTX 1050 TI https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125915&cm_re=gtx_1050_ti-_-14-125-915-_-Product (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125915&cm_re=gtx_1050_ti-_-14-125-915-_-Product)

What do you predominantly mine and what hashrate do you get? These and 550’s are the only cards I can get right now lol

SonsofTech did a video on these the other day - 1030's - they selling like hot cakes now in SA lol. Looks like I'm not getting into my second rig anytime soon.
