I am sure that Zbigniew Brzezinski was no angel. He laid down his life in the struggle against the main enemy of America is the Soviet Union. He won. The Soviet Union collapsed, but now it's his reincarnation in Russia. I really want to see in America was the man who will be able to continue the work of Brzezinski.

Kissinger ended up creating the behemoth that was China but it did ensure their support (or rather, non-support of the Soviets). As always, things are not what they always seem to be. Something that looked a waste of time back then (ex. bitcoin) might turn out to be great. What was the best course of action back then (ex. support Arab revolution) might turn to be horrible decades later. He was not the president at that time. It was Jimmy Carter, the president then, who approved the plan to provide Al Qaeda with US-made weapons.

Brzezinski's attitude should be criticized, he stood behind his plan even though it wasn't perfect, but he's not the only one to blame. Take Obama for example. He had no foreign policy of his own. While he was in office, all the important decisions were taken by Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Obama was more like a puppet. |
