OMG I just logged into myetherwallet and everything except etb tokens everything else has gone.
How can this be?
I lost 500 TAS, 0.37 ETH

192 CREDITBIT all my hard work gone..where have all my tokens gone?
I am devastated, what to do now?
Has anyone else been hacked how is this possible?

this is maybe that happen to your PC, since the private key of my eth address always i keep it save from other people

MEW is a very functional wallet but also exposes you in a few places when you create the key pairs. The nice thing about MEW is you can very easily get to your tokens on the Eth chain. There are risks though if you just use it in its basic standard form and use UTC files. At one stage when you create a key pair your private parts are exposed on the screen. You can use MEW if you want, but it is much better to use a hardware wallet like Ledge Nano S that can also store Ethereum tokens.

I suspect one of the following happened:

1. You got malware on your PC that stole your MEW UTC file and uploaded it. It then keylogged your password and the attacker imported your UTC file and unlocked it with the password. This is the classic hack of a wallet.
2. You took a screenshot of your private parts during key generation or you wrote it down for record keeping and the picture got stolen.
3. The hacker watched your screen and took an image of the private key.

Number 1 is most likely. In future, if you use MEW in its standard form just use it for small types of tx like bounty collection and rather use a hardware wallet for high value longer term storage. You can use hardware wallets in conjunction with MEW which it the best way to utilize MEW. There is nothing you can do to get your coins back if you were indeed hacked.

It is too late for you. I suggest wiping your PC and only use an air-gapped PC for creating keys or use a hardware wallet.

And the solution is only wipe out your pc and start new.

People lose crypto everyday, it's either a keylogger/RAT or a fishing website that got your private keys without you noticing the domain.

And don't forget to install an antivirus, only cost you less than $ 100 per year, better safe than sorry

This is bad news, to my knowledge myetherwallet is a very safe place to store coins but why this can happen, whether hackers can hack all that is on the internet? Is there no security that can prevent hackers? >:(

I'm not experiencing any hack on my wallet and I hope it's not gonna happen to me.  I feel bad to you buddy hope you will recover it back from your other investment I'm thinking when I should hide my private key to make it safe for hackers.

Dont use as a storage any of the online resources that keeping your private keys . Even such from where you can download them. Even MEW. The chance of being hacked by fake MEW website is very high.

i see there's 544 TAAS, 3.5 Lunyr and 0.3 eth.  nothing is lost i think.  ???

He took all my eth, 500 tas, all my xbty and 192 creditbit.. also someone from Russia tried to hack my cryptocompare site, but I know that one leak is from btctalk someone harvesting emails from btctalk users..could be another hacker for that.

He just loaded up more gas and stole my other etb tokens now as well..

You are looking at the hacker's address, I didn't have any LUNYR..He is hacking everyone he can.. I sent his transaction info to MYETHERWALLET SUPPORT.

This attack is not to qiwoman2 alone as everybody are liable to be a victim of such circumstance so this matter should be treated seriously.

Myetherwallet uses 2 level security before you can transfer funds, the private key and your password, i do not think the hacker can have access to both at the same time.

You should also try to contact the support of myetherwallet for information like the ip address that accessed your account etc.

I think he uses spyware, he entered your wallet via remote area after he got the PV key.  I lost my tokens too worth $500 . The hackers may be more than one , you can see discussion under etherscan io comment. There are many people been hacked.

Feel sorry for your lose buddy  and I assume that you did logged in on a phishing site and the hacker did get all of those coins inside of you MEW wallet.If not then there might be a virus on your computer which do keylogs all of your important informations and hacker did had a chance on accessing it. Theres no way you can able to recover it and the best thing is to moved on and do reformat your pc.

that's really a big amount mate unfortunately we don't have any other option but to be more careful as mention from the site itself, those hackers

If you used a Ledger Nano S or Trezor to connect to myetherwallet.com and you accidentally visit a phishing site are you immune to the site being able to gain access to your private keys?

I think the the thief use spy ware. When your online all your activities are recorded like screenshot, when your enter your wallet with pv key the spyware will record the key. So the hacker will use the key on other places. I have waveswallet.io with pasword it is safe not hacked. I use three myetherwallet. two use pvkey to enter and one with JSON file with pasword. One with JSON file is safe but two with pv key is hacked.

My Eth, SNT, BNT has been all stolen yesterday. I am using json file + password to login and I think should be pretty secured. Do not know what happened at all.
I used Chrome and book marked myetherwallet, should avoid any other site. But it still happened, Maybe some other Chrome Extension or shit coin applications running on MAC?

If you are doing some bounty jobs here in this furom much better if you save your ETH wallet on your profile so that you will not try to reach up your private key whenever you need to sign up in some sort of bounty campaigns here. Since pasting on google form is the major mistake what people made here so this one should needed to correct so that we can make sure that our wallet will became safe. But if you need desktop wallet I think you just search it.

Sometimes I do not understand how bitcoin managers manage imported equipment. At times to write for bitcoin on time, the process of natural lock nick and cancel the post paid. There needs to be a better management.

Just found something interesting. Be careful when you search "MyEtherWallet" in google to get to the site. There is a site with .in that looks exactly like the .com version so I assume it's a scam.

They paying for Adwords so some people might actually click on it because it's technically the first result.

The scenario i can think of,

1. Someone got your email address.
2. They send you a philsing email.
3. The email contains that your wallet is compromised and you need to login on your MEW wallet using the link they provided from their email.
4. You click the link and you have been redirected to fake MEW website.
5. you login using your private key.
6. nothing happens, the credetials already been forwarded to hacker.
7. Hacker login into your account and steal all your coins and assets.

Based on my own personal experience when i still use paypal. that how i got hack. maybe same happens on your MEW account

That's sad and I feel sorry for you. I have a strong feeling that you may have been a victim of phishing scam. Did you receive any messages on slack for any ico's regarding myetherwallet? Recently there's been hackers spreading phishing links on slack, thats why.   

Next time please avoid attending on slacks which is not connected with the campaign,  but never send any private keys of your wallet, because it's so vulnerable to be attacked hackers. I had also a deepest sadness with the loss amount of our mate here.  So be carefull with any transactions not to share your personal infos.

Slack phising attempted by many sick headed guys and we shouldn't try to experiment upon searching their links on google since mostly the phising site has been posted on their so better for our own safety if we want to join to their real community much better if we just reached up their ANN thread so that we will not be affected on the Phising epidemia scattering on this furom.

Well I just received an email with topic ( contact@myetherwallet.com ) and i think this is an email from hacker I did not open it . The email sent today . To be honest i was about to open it but then I told myself why would myetherwallet email me ! they do not even have my email . Started to make some search on google about myetherwallet hacked and found this thread . So please everyone be careful they prob hack you by that way . What bothering me the most is how the fuck they got my email !!! How they know I have wallet on myetherwallet.com . I do not remember I registered for any campaign that shows my email on public !!!

Lets assume that you able to join some HYIPs in the past? Which you do really need to put up email while registering since this is the only way that i can think off on how they do get our emails and even myself do have confusion or questions on how they did get my email.Its really irritating if you do recieve this kind of emails but as a knowledgeable person you can directly identify which is fake and legit.

Maybe those email come from the hyip's runner before since I receive some annoying emails also but I never try to open them up since I don't want to get hit by certain malwares or whatsoever flavor added on the email itself. But looks like Op hit by some phising act and we must make this a strong reminder to keep our wallet private key to be more secure so that we will not be hacked for mishandling it.

And why should anyone click phishing link for MEW sent by email?
First of all you don't have to sign up to MEW using your email which means they don't have your email, it would be stupid to use link from email to access MEW.

In myanalisa the hacker not sending the phising link but he clone mallware in your PC like spyware. How spyware came to your PC. it is together download cheap, not popular coin wallet. I know never be interersted in airdrop of cheap coins. Additionally if should download wallet. No to cheap, not popular coin with unclear roadmap, unknown developer. I don't want to take a risk.

My ether wallet is still okay. It is a trusted wallet.

Sorry to hear about all these cases. MEW is super convenient, but there is no way in hell I will trust assets to it, especially while using Windows. Linux + Mist is what I use.

Yes, it's right . I still use this wallet and all my tokens and ETH are fine.

Make sure you have a big HDD and patient enough to wait for all chain sync :) I use Debian 64bit and this https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases

Version 0.8.10 is good and very stable for a long time, 0.9.0 just appeared today and I havent tested that yet.

Hmm what you are talking about !! You should not get any emails from the real myetherwallet.com ever ( When you make your wallet you did not provide any emails!!! ). Please if you clicked on any thing from that email or logged into your wallet from a link on this email move all your funds  (ETH OR TOKENS) immediately from your current wallet to new one your wallet probably got compromised .

If you have someone hacking, first thing, think about what you have done, I think the error is due to you, you have exposed information about your wallet to someone. There are many fake websites trying to deceive people.

The most important thing we have to do is do not give careless ethereum address, they can steal information and funds that we keep there and usually they will send an application to your via email.

Myetherwallet [dot] [com] not requesting email at the time you register so I'm sure this is another phising link so be careful. Many phising link scattered everywhere, that's why do not be careless to click the link get from email or anykind of that.

I also experienced it.  What if in using a mobile phone when opening MEW?  All my tokens from airdrop is gone.  I just put my private key in my clipboard for east access but i guess its a wrong move.  What is the best thing to do?

there is another thing, i saw  a stolen eth adress and i checked from etherscan and than i saw that some people send eth to this adress like at 15:39 for example than this transfered eth at 15:40 is gone to another adress. do they use some bots or what ? does anyone knows ?

I think you log in to a phising site. It is where a mimic site of myetherwallet. It is spelled likes this , myerterwallet, myetnerwailet.  myetherrwallet etc. So you must be aware of the things you do before you act. I suggest to you that you read some important things about scamming in the internet and wallets including myetherwallet.

OMG! this was happened to me yesterday when i unconciously got a notification from mew wallet concerning my ethereum balance that it is 0 ba ??? ??? ???lance..

That's clearly those hackers trying to attempt to steal all you coins on your MEW buddy. I also got an email few days ago saying that I need to activate 2fa in my etherwallet. I never clicked the link but I replied to them saying " GO FUCK YOURSELVES HACKERS!"

Some are victims of phishing cause its one effective way to steal someones private key even without holding thier mobile phones, next time better to check the url if its correct or not.

If this is true, we should now all be extra careful about our private keys and all. We should only open our accounts in our home and only in our gadgets for much safer work. Hackers are on the go, we should take really good security.

Most of the time that's the only way hackers are stealing tokens and balances to myetherwallet address. Each and everyone of you check all the time the address of MEW properly. There are misspelled letters in the middle of it that make it look like real MEW address. And when a victim penetrates to that phishing site, the hacker behind is very active and trying to send all the reliable tokens that you have. I'm not a victim of it but before in some other website, I used to be and now I'm aware of it.

Caution is the key word,ensure you do not input your private key into any site and do not download from unsecure site

Do not click any link that comes from someone or in slack groups, most of the scammers comes from that site im recieving everyday that comes from different people that i must update my etherwallet.

It is never too late, if you are not able to know how you got hacked then it may happen again, that is why when it comes to our coins the most important thing is to secure our coins even if that makes access to them harder that is better than to lose them, my recommendation is that you stop using an unsafe OS and that you bookmark the site of myetherwallet by doing that you can avoid most hack attacks.

Maybe you've log in on one of this pishing site and log in your private keys on it...
These pishers/scammers are good there are lots of users that are been victims and till now no one ever get they're money back..

EtherDelta would do nothing about it because its already set on their rules that they don't  hold your private private key for you and you and only you are responsible on your own security.
I may say on how will you determine the owner of it, you can track him down track every transaction heshe made and figure it out on how will you get on touch on himher. But if i were you i will not waste my time looking for that scammer and try to get my token back, why It is because if i were to track that hacker and get touch on him or her, i don't have any idea what to do next would i beg for my token or use foul words to make me satisfied if i do these things is there any changes any improvement or any earningsI may say its totally waste of my time...  So better move on and make your mistake a lesson and a warning for everyone to avoid this kin of situation.

I hope this incident won't ever happen again. I'm glad that MEW staff really put an effort to make a pop-up warning whenever the user will open his account so if ever someone still got hacked again then that must be a very stupid and dump person.

So sad it just happened to me yesterday  :'(. My Datum was stolen I don't know any reasons why, my desktop is completely secured from any viruses. I'm using JSON File stored on my external hard drive and it has no any copy on my desktop.

I participated in an ICO before Christmas and created a wallet at Myetherwallet for the coin. On 28.12 I go into my wallet and have to watch how all coins from my wallet are sent to an address. So all gone. Then I followed the address via etherscan. I noticed that on the 29th and 30th 12 a huge amount of many different coins from many different addresses, all to the same address where my coins disappeared, were sent. Only on the 2 days worth several hundred thousand US $. In the following days until today not so many transactions are made at this address, but over and over again. I would not notice or would not interest me if not exactly to this address my stolen tokens would have gone. Obviously someone on myetherwallet.com is up to mischief. I sent the recipient's address and multiple sender addresses to support, but nothing happens.
Oh yes, my key was kept safe, not on the PC.
However, I still expected from a customer to whom I sold something, a small amount of ETH Zurich and when I opened the wallet to see if I had already arrived,
I was called out of the office and left the wallet open. When I came back after about 10 minutes and looked at the screen, only a small amount of the tokens were there, but they disappeared after a few minutes. I think that I left the wallet open was the big mistake. I just do not understand why the support does nothing, there are still Coins sent from different addresses to this address.
My PC is constantly checked by a security company, except that runs the full program of Kaspersky around the clock. I think they have hackers waiting for someone to enter his key and open his wallet.

Metamask is always valuable, why did you not add it?

One more additional tip. Check your balance through ethplorer or etherscan instead of through myetherwallet. Only log into your wallet when you want to transfer tokens. The sad stories I read remind me that I really should buy a hardware wallet now.

Some times it is very good to check twice about before clicking those links because they will steal your address and your coins. Even I faced the same situation so it is always good for any one check twice before clicking any link.

Yes Myetherwallet.com and metamask.io are safe to store your Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. But beware that MEW is the most popular ETH wallet so they are targeted by phishers, don't fall for that.
As I've said, there are phishing links that are scattered through the web so you became a victim of it. Next time, always check the URL properly.
If that coin isn't listed yet to an exchange, hackers will not interested to it so better send it to its respective wallet.
How much is total worth of ETH scammed to you?

mew plus metamask is much safer than having a mew account alone because by using a metamask your adding an extra security to your mew account and you rather use metamask to login in any exchange instead of exposing your mew private keys else where. Mew is basically prone to hacks and phising attempts that is why much better to avoid using it directly rather you only need alternatives such as metamask in orded to be secure for your online activities.

Some fake links are there in the online. We need to check the correct url of MEW and access the wallet site with the private key but most of the people loosing their money because of logging in to the fake site only. Other than that mass hacking will not be possible at all on the server.
Please do not take the advice of the people who lost the funds in individual hacking.

I just got hit last night.  I read somewhere that etherdelta may have been compromised so that may explain how they got into my account and others if you've use etherdelta or given access to other exchange with your account info.  It seems I'm learning something new each week now, scams, thieves, etc.  Costly.

Yes I'm a victim and sadly hacker are waiting to all my incoming coins and they put ethereum into my wallet to used as a gas then they sent out again to thier wallet again and again..sadly is I'm only watching the transactions 😭

If the tokens are unsold you may be able to get the issuer to redirect to new eth address.  Just a chance.

Watch out for phishing sites. Many people got scammed like that. Don't be lazy and check everything.
Everyday we can see examples of scammers creativity.

Although you can just simply bookmark the website to make sure you will not mess everything, because sometimes we messed while we're typing, like for example we type myetherwallet.com , instead you put myetherwallets.com (notice the S) that can be used by phishing.
Be extra careful when visiting cryptocurrency related websites as well, there might be a trick hidden behind it to get your wallet's vital information. Im not that savvy with software and programs, but I can be more careful not to become a victim by these hackers.

Yes, very sad to know about it because the problem is we are sharing our details with an in identified person without knowing anything. This made a lot of people to lose their personal wallet and they're hard earned money. Moreover, we have to be very careful when dealing with private keys.

The major problem with the people is they don't learn anything before sending or giving details to others. It is always good to check the details before sharing anything with the person who doesn't know us. These major problem with the people are here to make money not for loosing, in hurry mode they will not check the details correctly and start sharing their private keys.

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm learning from this and i'm wondering would creating many new wallets would prevent/reduce such incidents. At least one wallet hacked is not as bad as all wallets being hacked.

No one can hack this wallet. Just thinking, your smartphone password just 9 characters but when you forgot, very difficult to unlock again
With 64 characters belong to private key (include characters and number) . How can the people hacking you?

myetherwallet is very difficult to be hacked by other users, but most of what happens is you get into the phishing website or you have propagated the private key to the crowd or you have incorrectly entered the eth address with the private key

This what makes MEW as an easy website to target by these hackers, they know that many are using MEW as it is the most popular wallet for ETH and also they know that there are too many users who don't care if they are visiting the real one. Those users that are not aware and too confident that their funds are safe, yes it is safe with the real MEW by they are careless by not knowing these type of hacking and copying of website's interface is possible. Also don't click links that are sent to your email addresses if the domain isn't familiar and real MEW.

I hope OP don't know how to check the coin in the etherscan, already we can see the coins in your wallet. Sometime you need to add the custom code in order to display the coin.

this is the danger if we give our email to others, either to list the website as an investor or to list bounty. we should have 2 emails. the 1 to bounty or website, and 1 again we use to list in exchange or market. so whenever anyone knows our email, it does not matter because the email for our wallet is not that one.v maybe this is a trivial matter just because of email, but it is very big impact. maybe this is what we have to learn tallied for people who lose their great assets. thanks if you give me merrit XD
