Title: Is it wise to buy altcoins with my bitcoins??
Post by: vikramsaxena82 on June 07, 2017, 05:30:12 AM
Dear Members,
I am new to this forum, hope you guys will be able to clear my doubts. I have some bitcoins. Is it wise to invest all my bitcoins in other coins like Eth, Ripple, Monero, dash, etc. And keep my bitcoin count to very minimal. Once I get the desired profit, then convert all coins to bitcoins??

Your help will be much appreciated.

Regards,
Vikram

Dear Members,
... Is it wise to invest all my bitcoins in ...

probably not.

if you have a very small amount like anything less than 0.1BTC and that is not all the money you own in the whole world  then yeah go for it, you are not risking a large amount of money and you may make more of it.

but if you have a bigger amount then it is not such a good idea to go all in altcoin specially if you are new to the scene. you first need to learn more about trading and get more familiar with altcoins and how their price are moving then think about investing a large amount in it. because this market is pretty high risk with all the pump and dumps.

Eth is a safer bet but don't go all in one.
Try to analyze the market potential of coins then buy a decent amount. Don't forget to keep atleast 50% in BTC if you have a bag full of Bitcoins.

Buying altcoins with bitcoin now is not advisable as bitcoin values currently is on upward trend and mostly of the popular coins like Ethereum, ripple, zcash and litecoin are also on upward movement too. You should study the market to buy altcoins cheap when bitcoin is very expensive, that is how to go about trading. Never used all your bitcoin to buy altcoins just use 10% as bitcoin is the gold standard for others coins.

I have about 1 bitcoin and similar amount in altcoins. But was wondering if it is more profitable to invest remaining 1 bitcoin in promising altcoins rather than keeping just 1 bitcoin and watch it grow.

I will advise you to invest your btc into other altcoin because it is the surest way to increase the value of your bitcoin but you must do your research properly in order to know which coin to invest into for profits.

1 BTC is a good investment, you should chose a good exchange website that trades established cryptocoins.

From your post I see you already have strategy, so the question is did you try it with real market and how the result?. Some people doubts not because they don't have money or strategy, but they won't loss. All you have to do is see price action on real market and replace just 40% ( not all ) to buy altcoin. Which altcoin?, I suggest ripple and monero. Wait and see your money grow up and enjoy it. Wise is only about the right choose with right protection ( stop loss ). Good luck

look at more promising lower cap alts, you will make far more returns on lower cap alts but make sure they are going somewhere.
for greater safety stick to the top 100

See there are many potential coins in the market you have to be very careful in choosing those. I always support to the people it is another type of good investment where you can spend your bitcoin for buying altcoin.

I think you should divide your holding on bitcoin and some promising alts, we watch that bitcoin dominance is decreasing by the time, as well as some alts made significant growth like Ripple and Ethereum, but if you want to invest, better to choose low marketcap and promising projects, such as TRST, GUP.

Historically almost every non scam altcoin has been a better investment than bitcoin so in that sense yes its better however past performance is never a perfect prediction for future trends. Its not inconceivable that a crash could wipe out 90-99% of all altcoins, if thats a risk you are not willing to take then only put a portion of your bitcoins into alts.

I would never suggest going all out of bitcoin too.

I have a couple of ether and litecoin, fair amount of investment in ripple, dogecoin, and few more. Can you suggest some more where i can invest. this goes without saying that I will do my research before investing.

If you buy altcoin with bitcoin and have a purpose for trading or investment of course this is a good alternative, but certainly has a risk of loss in doing this activity, I think storing bitcoin in the wallet is of course a good investment at this time.

You can compare some ICOs vs ETH and BTC here: https://icostats.com (https://icostats.com)
The answer is: sometimes it wise to convert your BTC to altcoins :)

If you want to buy and invest in Altcoin, I suggest you buy Altcoin Ark and Edg because I see in this year both Altcoin is very good and very promising and you will not wait long in trading Altcoin surely you will get a very good profit in the future .

Nope, it is not a good idea to put all your bitcoin in altcoin trading. Leave some bitcoin and just hold it for like 5-10 years and the other amount would then be into altcoin trading. Do a research first on which altcoin you would want to trade in to.

to be fair investing in altcoins has always been very profitable for some and very terrible for others.
you have to learn to belong to one group and not the other.
if you can learn how to find the good times to get in an altcoin and also how to find the best time to get out of them then you start making money.
but people usually fail in these and mostly in the second part (finding a best time to get out). and that is the important part. because that will determine how much, if any, profit you get out or not.

I have just 1 bitcoin at the moment. investing 25% in altcoins is a good option?

I would advise you to start with a little amount of bitcoin because as someone already advised you it's a business in which high risk is involved. I know a lot of people who have made good money in trading but then you gotta be good at it.

It's a sort of a gambling but of course you can make huge profit if you pick the right altcoin.
25% is ok percentage as long as you stick to it.
