Title: Bitcoin Mining Pool Questions
Post by: joshuatowns on June 11, 2017, 11:21:31 PM
I'm pricing some hardware to possibly start mining Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency. Let's suppose I wanted to start my own pool. How many computers would I need at a minimum to see the benefits? And if you had $50k to spend, would you take the risk and buy the equipment? I've got a vacant rental that I own that I could use. I also have fast wifi.

Having your own pool would be the same as solo mining. In order to see any type of benefit you would need to up your budget to around $800,000 and get about 10PH of mining kit.

Even then its dubious. There is a reason people with millions of dollars of mining kit still use pools like kano and slush etc.

Setting up a sha-256 mining pool is very time consuming . It takes deep technical knowledge on OS , compiling and running the daemon in 24/7 manner.

Dunno,
Why don't you try posting in the Slush thread?  Maybe somebody there knows something about that pool.
