Trust is mostly earned with successful trades. So a successful trade gets positive and an unsuccessful one negative... There may be other reasons for +/-ve trust, if so, they're explained in the people's profiles.

Why do you want positive trust? You get it by doing trades/transactions or other things that people find trustworthy. You get negative trust by doing things others consider risky or untrustworthy.

Depends on what you want to do in the forum :
-If you do currency exchanges legitimately, only way people distinguish you from scammers is by the trust ratings left after successful trades.
-Similarly ,while in a trade if the opposite party finds you shady or untrustworthy, they leave the negative as a warning to not trade with you.
If you aren't planning on having trades or sell\offer services here trust ratings doesn't really matter ,only the DT negative does.
