Post by: Thatstinks on June 15, 2017, 09:04:52 PM
It looks like now that viabtc is offering futures and likely we will see a new coin the question is if BIP148 works out, what is THE name of the coin?

BIP148Coin
BIP148Token

Maybe UASF148, for the altcoin name to be at least compatible with their hats.

So who exactly gets the rights to name it or is it a market thing?

they're probably not gonna admit to outright ownership, but it is well known that they're 'backed' by bitmain. i wonder what influence they have that we don't know about.

So their decision to call it the 148token had nothing to do with Bitmain or does it lol I suppose even if backed by Bitmain they still operate independent.

Normally the one who creates the altcoin name it, but it seems no one is seriously interested to list it as altcoin and those supporting BIP148 hoping it gets over 50% of hashrate right away, but this is out of reality. My guess is the ones who propagating BIP148 are afraid about the reaction they would get if they proposed the altcoin name, although without most proof of work it technically cannot be Bitcoin.

Bitmain is announcing that if BIP148 succeeds, then they are going to mine a new SHA-256 altcoin instead of Bitcoin. But it does depend on the success of BIP148.

We will have Segwit and there is nothing you can do about it. Making walls of text at Bitcointalk is a pure waste of youre time and energy.

stop wasting your time on tokens that has not yet happened. exchanges list these to make more money on a "promise" not a reality.
if BIP 148 comes and fails there will be no tokens and you just wasted your time and money.
if BIP 148 comes and succeeds it will be bitcoin. there is nothing else.
if BIP 148 comes and does things half assed with little support and splits everything then we are all screwed!
