Post by: CoinHoarder on June 16, 2017, 03:33:31 AM
I have a list of categories and subcategories of things having to do with cryptocurrencies.

Some are for specific cryptocurrencies (IE. Bitcoin Web Site, Bitcoin Whitepaper, etc.)

Some are for all cryptocurrencies in general (IE. Exchanges, Forums, Stores, etc.)

I would like to organize these lists as best as possible.

If you give me your feedback AND I edit the list based of off your feedback

Then I will send you $5 in BTC. The maximum I will give out is $100 total to 20 different users ($5 each).

If you have a really good and thoughtful post, mainly referring to how to better organize these lists, then I may give you more than $5.

Anything over $5 to any certain user will not count towards the $100 limit.

Who receives credit for what is 100% up to my own discretion, and I reserve the right to end this prematurely. All submissions submitted before the end will at least be considered for payment.

I am mainly looking for how to better organize the list, categories that might could be combined, and categories that I might should add.

This is applicable to a web site I am developing.

This is closed- I am no longer paying for submissions (other than to those that have already made suggestions but have yet to provide a Bitcoin address, or for those that want to continue submitting suggestions whose already submitted suggestions were not paid.) Thanks to those that participated!

I cogratulate you on your underlaying business concept process!
In the category General Cryptocurrency Services, you have mentioned similar named two sub categories (Cryptocurrency Exchanges, Quick Cryptocurrency Exchanges) which in my considerstion should not be divided into two sub-categories.

Just to tell you if you can organise these both into one title as  Cryptocurrency Exchanges . Going forth, when a user clicks this title, he will then find it in two separate sub-links as  Quick Cryptocurrency Exchanges as well.

Yes, exchanges are a tricky category because there are different types of exchanges:

Ones like Shapeshift, Changelly, etc. are what I was calling "Quick Exchanges"
Ones like Poloniex, Bittrex, etc. are what I was calling "Exchanges"
Ones like Coinbase, Circle, etc. are what I was calling "FIAT Exchanges"
Ones like Localbitcoins, Litecoinlocal, etc. are what I was calling "Peer to Peer FIAT Exchanges"

They are obviously separate subcategories, but it is hard to find a good name for them.

Users will be able to like and follow each submission, along with filter links, reviews, ratings and discussions by category (Cryptocurrency Exchanges), subcategory (Quick Exchanges/Exchanges/FIAT Exchanges/Peer to Peer FIAT Exchanges), and also by the cryptocurrencies supported by each service.

All general categories and subcategories are filterable by category, subcategory, and applicable cryptocurrencies.
https://i.imgur.com/dDcfmwL.png

Cryptocurrency-specific categories are obviously filterable by which cryptocurrency they pertain to.

So... I have already implemented what you are suggesting. I will send you $5 anyways. Thanks for getting us started and for your time. Any further suggestions are more than welcome!

Thanks! Your help is much appreciated!!

something about send fee and mempool. maybe also ICOs too?

Mempool is kind of covered under the "Number Of Unconfirmed Transactions" statistic.

I suppose that I can add Mempool size as well though. The problem with those types of statistics is that they are only really applicable to Bitcoin at the moment. However, I am trying to be proactive and add them because they will probably be applicable to other cryptocurrencies in the future. I think only Bitcoin has APIs available for such statistics.

ICOs is a good suggestion. An ICO countdown/ICO lists subcategory could fit in under the "General Cryptocurrency Market Data" category.

I will add a mempool size statistic and ICO related subcategory. Please provide a Bitcoin address.

Cryptocurrency-Specific Social Media Links
In this category you have added forum as a listing while it should not be there as social media is a place where people add or share their personal life photos , videos and feelings. Forum can be moved to a different Sub category. You can move it under "General Cryptocurrency Links". I will try to update my post with more organised structure. If you feel its worth it ...

How about cryptocurrency special features (smart contracts, dividends, etc.) under other resources?

What do you mean exactly? I do have smart contracts as a technology category. Technologies are also filterable by categories and the cryptocurrencies they are implemented in.
https://i.imgur.com/sR0IyqA.png

I don't have dividends as a Technology, and there are decentralized coins that are being developed that pay dividends. I suppose I can add that as a technology.

Add premine? Also, so many price stats seems unnecessary. how about price, market 24 hours 1 week and 1 month?
Premine is a good idea. I will add it as a blockchain statistic, as it fits in well with total supply, available supply, asset, etc..

I have multiple price stats because I use them elsewhere. Here, among other places:
https://i.imgur.com/VhZoqLy.png
Note: The graphs are not fully populated, as I have been resetting the database a lot while developing other features.

Thanks for your help. Bitcoin address?

You have a brilliant idea about making a thing related to cryptocurrency mate, I hardly find what is lacking from the idea that you give. But one thing that many users need when they desperate bitcoin. It looks like you should add a lending section in the Cryptocurrency Services category. I'm sure it will be very useful #imo :)

The General Cryptocurrency Gambling section, you should mention, works with whom you are there, because usually in casinos, gamblers are less interested in new casinos, you have to work with "evolution gembling" because there are already many people who believe, And it will also be interesting Interest from middle-class gamblers to top-level gamblers,
And I am a gambler

Maybe OP would like to consider adding in jobs section in the Cryptocurrency Services category, there are quite a few sites that hires freelancer and the payment is being paid in bitcoins, signature campaign in forum bitcointalk is another way to earn some bitcoins too, Hopefully my idea would be useful to you.

Good ideas! Thank you.

I will add an option in the user profile section to set a preferred currency, and then automatically convert all USD values to whatever your preferred currency is.

I guess I agree with you that they are more digital services than physical objects that you can buy like electronics or clothing. It is kind of borderline, but I will move Flights and Hotels to Digital Goods/Services.

I will add a Money Making Guides subcategory to the Guides category.

Also, I will add Software and Games to digital goods, and change the Games subcategory in News/Entertainment to Free Games.

Good suggestions, thanks a lot. I will send you a little extra. :)

I don't understand, I am sorry. Can you try to explain it differently?

Job Boards is already under Digital Goods and Services. Sorry but it was already on the list. :\

Also, signature campaigns is maybe a good idea but these are constantly changing. I think a list of signature campaigns could fit under the previously submitted category "Money Making Guides". I'm not sure it would be good to create a category for that, as a bunch of links to inactive signature campaigns would be hard to maintain.

You know bitcoin users exist in various countries spread all over the world, I'm so happy when you also provide information about bitcoin ATM locator around the world, But I think it would be great if you also give info about list of local exchanger in every country? Because I think there are many bitcoin users in different countries who dont know local exchange sites in their country?
So they usually use world exchange like btc-e, poloniex, etc, to exchange their bitcoin to fiat
You can place Exchange Local in General Cryptocurrency Local or General Cryptocurrency Exchanges

At mining I am not sure what "stats" was intended for, but hardware hash rate stats for every algo and as many mining HW as possible would be a big job, but could be made at least partly by user submission, giving your website some good extra traffic.

Good luck with this, it looks very interesting.

Are you making a website mate? maybe a bitcoin exchange.
if that is so this will be a hell of a good website about crypto currency, because it is almost complete informations about cryptos for me.

just like to add up my idea if this will make sense to you.

'Electricity cost of mining per day/week/month' @ Cryptocurrency-Specific Mining Statistics
Hello,

I assume that you mean the total spent on electricity securing the blockchain given a global average price of electricity?

I guess the formula for per day would be: (Total Hash Rate / Most Efficient Hardware Speed) * Most Efficient Hardware Electricity Usage Per Day * Global average price of electricity

I could probably add that down the road, because I do plan on eventually making a more intensive mining section eventually. It won't be available on launch though, because I already have too much to do in between now and then. The more I add, the more I delay the website launch, and believe me... I have added a lot since I started development! I keep getting new ideas, lol. :D

Changing categories and subcategories is a fairly simple edit for me, but this is a bit more complicated for various reasons.

Thanks for the idea anyhow. Bitcoin address?

Hi,

Someone else mentioned adding currency conversion and translation. I am not sure if I can delay the website much longer for such features, but I will definitely add this sort of thing to my development roadmap for the web site. Allowing more global access to the web site would be great- the more the merrier.

Currency conversion is a given, but I'm not sure translation features are needed. Don't most browsers automatically do this, or am I spoiled from using Google Chrome? When I load a web page that is not in English, Google Chrome asks me if I would like Chrome to translate it for me.

I suppose I can add Instagram because it is pretty popular. I just didn't want to go too crazy with social media links, seeing as though there are around 20 or 30 decently popular ones. On each user's profile, you can share your profile information to many Social Networks- including:

Thanks for the idea regarding a visitor counter. I will think about adding something along those lines later down the road. This website is a web app written in javascript/node.js with data that updates reactively, so those types of stats would be easy/cool to add to the footer of the web site.

Thanks for your help! Sending $5 now. :)

No problem, but cryptocurrency-specific data is meant to be data only regarding specific cryptocurrencies. For more general market data, I already have a page for that as posted earlier in the thread:
https://i.imgur.com/VhZoqLy.png

Users will also be able to "follow" a cryptocurrency and access a more personalized Market Data page with the same statistics.

I will give you an extended timeframe to make another suggestion if you like.

Thanks :)

Yes, a lot of the data is intended to be aggregated by user submission. However, over time I will add any APIs that I can find to automate as much data as possible.

I do have "Collectable Wallets" under "Wallets" which is meant to be applicable to physical cryptocurrency collectables. I suppose that I can nuke that subcategory and make a more general "Collectable" subcategory under the Physical Goods and Services category. Good suggestion, as I agree that it is more applicable under the physical goods category.

Bitcoin address?

I'm glad I was helpful.

Thank you & good luck!

Thank you :)
The design looks nice, clean and very readable.
Of course, much more information is needed, but I guess that you'll add it in time.
While the information will add up you may need one more view - something like simple view and full view - or adding a tree maybe, since nobody will scroll too many pages to find new info or website. My example is based on what I've seen on "links and reviews" page.
Overall I like it. The direction is good.
