Title: Is the market going for a crash?
Post by: clardalan on June 22, 2017, 06:12:16 PM
Do you guys see the big drop in volumes and bid books? There is no action anywhere. everyone is waiting.
One big seller can create big domino sell-off.

What are your thoughts?

I don't think so, volume is going back to BTC right now and there is also a beautiful inverted head-shoulder-formation (good sign) in the month chart. There are also serveral altcoins with big news/releases the next few days and weeks (GAME, WAVES, ARDR and many moore) so I'm bullish for the next weeks until the summerdrought will come. Indeed there is also risk for a bitcoin fork in august if the community/miners/developers cannot compose their dispute about segwit but i don't think that this happens...

I expect a dump in a few hours, then i will buy in.

for long term, i agree. see my comment from another post a few minutes ago:

I agree with some bubble arguments.
However, to see where this is coming from, just check the biggest social investment platform. (https://www.etoro.com/markets/btc/)

See the 1.4m people!! on BTC (half investing)
and ~ 250k people!! on Ethereum (80% investing)

those are the people creating the bubble.

Meaning: Crypto is going mainstream and that attracts more people.
Even if 1 hedge fund or investment fund decides to put 0.5% of their holdings in BTC, the price would more than double in 1 day.

so, you tell me. Are we in a bubble? or is the price gonna double tomorrow?

I do not know.

I think the market has just been slow since the ethereum network issues during status ICO. A crash is possible but I think its unlikely, people are just waiting for the dust to settle before resuming their normal trading patterns.

Nobody can tell you that :) But I can tell you if the price doubles tomorrow it will halve after tomorrow (or better said a correction will come). In my opinion btc/crypto is not in a bubble but in a boom so if you think longterm and you don't invest in a shitcoin (so do fundamental analysis) you can only win...

We'd been in this situation many many times already. The weak hands will sold at a loss while the experienced traders and whales will catch the btfd. Trade without emotions guys.

What are your thoughts?

I researched yesterday that ETH/USD is closely resembling the bubble chart by Jean-Paul Rodrigue (Hofstra University) which might indicate an ETH crash is underway?
http://populicapital.com/website-launch-and-ethereum-correction/ (http://populicapital.com/website-launch-and-ethereum-correction/)

If so, that could domino onto some other coins based on the Ethereum blockchain.

somehow, the crash is not coming fast.
last 20 mins we have some movement.
not sure if this is going strong down. what do you think?

Title: Re: Is the market going for a crash?

the market has already ran out of steam. the money has been exiting for a while, that is why you see the drop in the overall volume and also the fact that there is no longer any action going on.
of course there will always be some leftovers, people holding bags and the small pump groups will always be pumping something! they won't stand still.

somehow, the crash is not coming fast.

not sure if this is going strong down. what do you think?

there has been a couple of sharp drops in a couple of overly pumped altcoins but like always the big ones are slower at reacting to a dump.

What I noticed is that Exchanges volumes become quiet similar in past was always one or two exchanges far ahead taking all volume. Now we have Poloniex in leas with $270m daily volume and 9th by volume is BTC38 with only 3 times less.

For a 3 months I observer weekly topics about market crash/dump and etc. and army of Oracles that know what others do or do not with their investments. Also, they even know what whales do!  ;D

Nothing changed since times when humans were hiding in caves and praying for rain!

The entire crypto market is a giant bubble.
It may take months or years but the whole thing will crash like a house of cards.
There will be twenty or fifty useful coins/companies that make it. The rest will disappear.

The trick is to figure out which coins will be around after the rest die out. ;)

Seems in every correction that we've had in the last four months, there have also been coins spiking in growth during that time.   Some people still find things that are growing in value.   The marketcap is 109 billion right now, which kind of proves the point.  Just look at the big gainer column at CMC.

We'll know in the next 48 hours... where the red and green lines meet is where the decision is made whether the bubble bursts or we surge up to $150B market cap. On the plus side, if we do happen to go up, we will SURGE to the top of that top red line.. around $135B very quickly.    We have an inverse head shoulders which is bullish but are not making higher highs, but we have hit a quadruple top now, so literally flip a coin. Technical analysis is great in hindsight but it's far from perfect in predicting the future.

Nope. I'n always optimistic in trading thus I'm keeping it postively. However, I don't take it easily so I can eliminate the risk if there is something but thing could happen.

What are not making higher highs?  If you look at most of the Polo coins, they have.  A lot of the new money from the ICO's seems to be combined with the Polo coins which are supported by traders there because they see them as higher quality.   I think maybe many ICO's are tanking and this is the money that's pulling out of the market.  Could be the "organic results" of the market keeps growing, while the chaff is being sorted out periodically in these corrections.

Bitcoin is slowly becoming accepted into the mainstream. It used to be if your dad is asking about it or if it's on the front page of the news the bubble is over, why? cause that happened once a few years ago. I think it's different this time and people becoming aware of bitcoin and ethereum is a good thing. All these countries allowing bitcoin this year is a really good thing for bitcoin, it can only go up from here. And in 2 years there is another halfening, people are already preparing for that.

As for alt coins, they are traded basically just to get more bitcoin, so why would they crash, people will always be searching for those 100% pumps in alt coins. Plus there is some really interesting tech in alt coins right now that have real use in the near future. This is the best time to invest and hold for a few years on certain coins. Choose wisely though, as most probably won't go anywhere.

I think we are definitely in a bear market at the moment as the early investors start to cash out and take profits and a lot of new crypto investors are coming in and looking for quick short term gains.  I think we will go sideways with prices staying the same for next few months until the dust settles. Once that happens then things we should start to see decent growth again :)

Im praying for a surge in total market cap as it will do all coins a favor not just Bitcoin.

However... basing it on other factors as well as technical analysis I would have to say that it will be a steep plunge.

Hold on to your horses cuz its gonna get wild and DONT PANICK SELL!!

Still holding in there.  One way or the other a big move up or down should occur within a few days.  I thought I was going to wake up this morning and see it under $100B. Lol.  Unfortunately I think it will be down, too... But I'm not right anywhere close to 100% of the time.  Normally if it was going to tank it would have done it by now, though.

Market seems to be a correction and consolidation phase. All bull markets go thru many
such phases followed by next big rally. Holding top coins long-term and keep adding on dips
should work out fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong (Im not American so not 100% sure), but isnt the last few weeks the time when hedgefund managers and the likes return from their summer breaks?

Could this also be part of the reason we are seeing big sums of money getting taken in and out of the market cap recently?

Just a random thought that went thru my head haha.

Actually, I don't think so. Because everyear bitcoin and the other altcoins' prices are dumping in some periods. But they are again increasing their values against the currencies like Dollars.

Therefore, the best thing to do for now is making investments in altcoins. At least i think in this way.

We've technically broken the uptrend.  I'm curious how it will play out now. Technical analysis is not perfect but unless we get a pump in the next 12 hours, months of consolidation at lower market caps may be at hand... People say "its different this time" but I've heard that before....

You would invest in ALts even when there is a possible bear market?

As you can see, all the speculations and dumpings make somebody rich. Because they know when to invest. I do not tell you to make some stupid moves like investing to Stratis as you can see it is going down sharply. But if you really understand the main idea of investing, nobody wins if they invest an already high price coin. So it would be easy to find the right coin to make investment.

prices are decreasing at a very high rate, we can expect more people will dump their btc and altcoins. It will definitely last longer and we may experience longer time to recover since investors turn their coins to fiats as their value also increase.

many people in the market gets panic and sell their coins, i think they don't want to get loss because the price is down. there is a big drop in btc and altcoin so people trying to sell no matter the price is getting down to deep. but i guess there are many traders that still holding their coins and only waiting what next will be happen.

-13% (+/- 1)

I too 3 waves since the begining, each of them are shorter in time but more violent.
I touched -20% a few hours ago.

3rd wave now seems to be over, and I believe hope we are in for a small recovery, or at least a small stabilization.
