Is it possible that facebook will be replaced or fade out of trend? ( to the point that it will be forgotten) Will it get shut down like Friendster when the time has come?

For me, I dont think facebook will suffer the same fate as MySpace or even Friendster and if so it will take years before it will be replaced by another social media ( which i highly doubt it will happen) . Facebook has become a part of our daily lives and the things that you can do with it are endless. you can play games on facebook , chat with friends on facebook, post pictures and videos on facebook, and the best part is you can share memes on facebook.  That's why it is so hard to beat or to fade out of trend because it already has everything that an average human needs.

I would like to hear your opinion on this topic

Probably it will fade away if someone will create a new app that is more and way cooler than facebook. I think 20 yrs later maybe someone will create an app that will surpass facebook, thats the when facebook will shot down. Maybee who knows that someone will surpass the creator of face that is more genius to create a great app that is more eye catching for the people. Who know that maybe in the future your kid or your grandson or granddaughter will use it and even you that you yourself had forgotten facebook. That my friends may and can the cause of facebook into down fall but how know that facebook can still be in the future or not.

The odds are low if you think that facebook will fade, why? Unlike friendster that got boring with the few features it can do, Facebook is constantly improving, updating with new features, it even added games on its mobile app called messenger. Facebook is the largest social app downloaded in any devices, so i highly doubt it will fade anytime sooner. Facebook will constantly improve and update with new trends as time pass by so that consumers will never get bored from using it.

There is a possible one day that Facebook will be replaced only if they will not update there system and will not keep up with the trend but for as long as they keep ahead of everything then they will be always on the top.

yeah there's possible, its because human is always need something new.fb ist great media social but its teen years old.  maybe one-day fb will be disappear and nobody use fb again.

Yes, it is possible. Maybe there will be some social media, whose popularity will overtake Facebook. But it will take at least 10-15 years.

I don't know, but facebook just disabled one of my sock puppet accounts because I left a negative review with a former employer.  Facebook is in the tank for the libs and my 1st Amendment rights were trampled on. . . not happy

Very possible. Especially if someone manages to create an app with integrated services with an equivalent to uber, FB, twitter, lazada, etc. Similar to Wechat in China.

i think it won't be and it will never be, because almost everyday facebook is upgarading and updating their system to improve the quality and speed of it.

More than likely it will be replaced as anything online seems to have a particular lifespan. At first it was most popular with under 24 year olds, then as you started to get friend requests from your mother, it was time to move to another platform.

Yes, it is true. Facebook is much bigger than Friendster and MySpace and this is the reason it is quite unlikely it will go out of date in short period of time. What's sure is that anything could happen. On the Internet anything could change at a very fast rate and, just like MSN, any website or app could go unfashionable.

Facebook, the social medium, can disappear just the same way. But Facebook is much more that its website. It is a C-Corporation which has INstagram, WHats App and many other businesses...

day by day more new apps are coming. now biggest social network face book. it has more features compare to other social sites. may next any one can develop some more features of app then it is possible to replace face book. may be it happens in the future generations.

Trends are trends and people love to go with the flow wherein new application has arrived. Well, as we can see nowadays, Facebook (FB) is dominating the entire social application. Well to mind you guys there were countries that hated FB, they mostly like vines, twitter, snapchat, musically and anything that keeps them more entertain while having social hang out. To be honest, I think FB is keep on updating up to its trend nowadays and accurate when it comes to socialisation. Thumbs up to the best creator, you're a genius.

Trends usually fade ou. Apps usually get replaced by another app.

there is a possibility. take note that the technology now is growing big.. and no one knows if someday, someone can make same thing like facebook that can attract more people to use it, and has more features that facebook dont have. but as of now, lets just be happy and contented of what facebook can offer. :)

At the moment it is impossible because facebook users have reached billions of user worldwide and it is the most popular social media site that is already being part of the daily lives of the people around the world. It is also used to be the means of communication between peoples whos friends, families are in the different parts of the world. So it would take years before Facebook could be replaced.

i think it is solely depends on the facebook itself to maintain on the top. And yes there are better social media platforms than facebook but since facebook has been expanding through the years, it is so hard for other social medias to replace faceboook. And personally i think facebook is easier to use than the others

It might happen, when it will happen is the question. There is no permanent thing in this world except change itself.
As technology upgraded as will as dissatisfaction of this generation and next generation new will come to our doors with a genius application better than facebook.

Highly unlikely that FB is replaced due to the network effect and their tendency to buy out any network that threatens to eat into their market share like instagram. They might even be called a social network monopolist. However, its conceivable that new entrants into the social networking space could eat into their market share.

I have a small investment in STEEM tokens and a steemit account in case this network grows and begins to be a threat. Its 200K users at the moment so its nothing more than a fly on an elephant' back, but if the Steemit network ever takes 5% market share it would probably be an incredible home run as an investment especially if they integrate other services: encrypted chat, etc. i am actively looking for other blockchain based social networks and would be delighted to hear ideas.

I dont think that it will be replaced by another social media page.  Theres a billion of people usng it and as the time comes the fb is still upgrding some content until the user becomes more satisfied...

Facebook popularity is droping by every day. Instagram offers as same stuff as facebook does but It's much easier to the folks. I think Facebook can and will be "forgotten" like MSN. New generations don't even know what is MSN. Old but gold says off sharing messages  8)

At this point I think facebook has a very strong hold on the social network market and unless they go bankrupt somehow they will never fade away.

Yes everything is possible in online world. But my personal opinion is that Facebook stay it's present position for a long time. This also may be happened that Facebook gradually replaced by any new one. Who can say?

Forgotten ? that's almost impossible, because there are many memories of us that we will look back on it in our future time. possibly future's kids won't use it, but it will be something special for nowadays' people in their future age. unless facebook is shut down by its owner. it feels like I still want to open my friendster account to look back my memories, but unfortunately it's no longer available.

Facebook will certainly build a war chest to continue to buy ... I think it is possible to remain relevant generation to generation.

With Facebook acquiring over a billion active users since its launch date in 2004, it is not impossible, but very difficult to surpass this website unless you have something super different and demanded. I mean super demanded and unique from what it already is, especially since Facebook holds so many different options and services such as Messenger, its ownership of Instagram, Facebook Live, and now stories such as Snapchat.

Is it possible? Sure. Kids/Young adults are fickle and don't like to be on the same social network as their parents. However, it's improbable as long as Facebook is able to continue buying relevancy (Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, etc.). Even if they can't buy relevancy, they are very capable/willing to copy it (i.e. SnapChat).
The killer of Facebook will unlikely be called a "Social Network". It's likely that no one knows what it will be called.  8)

I don't think so because Facebook is growing and people became dependent on using it so i think its hard to replace Facebook since it became part of our lives and its too soon to replace it.

Big companies no matter the industry sometimes stay with us (Ford, GE, Coca-Cola) sometimes disappear (Nokia, Kodak, Toys R Us etc). Hard to tell!

The value of Facebook falls on the stock market, Elon Musk's fight against Facebook is affecting the future of facebook. In addition, the UK is preparing to file a lawsuit against Facebook for leaking personal informations.

That is a 99.9% answer that facebook will be replaced by a new social app but i am not sure when will it be. New launch social media either through their technology or more user friendly able to beat facebook and as time goes by people will shift to the new platform and forget facebook.

There is always a possibility of change even in the likes of facebook. Remember friendster, where everyone is using it and in a flash its gone. If facebook don't  upgrade or innovate their features, there will be a chance that it will be overthrown.

Facebook is thriving because of the amount of user data it has, and it is using that data to show its users advertisements. It sells user data to companies, which then show us ads. Highly unlikely that Facebook will die anytime soon.
