Title: Antminer S7 Fan Question
Post by: BennyAndDeJets on June 25, 2017, 12:38:11 AM
Is it possible to boot the Antminer S7 with no fans plugged into the fan headers on the actual board?  I would still be running two fans that move enough air for the miner, but from the PSU.

AFAIK the miner beeps and does it start. It doesn't work if the fans are below a certain RPM sadly, a reason why the miner is not really that great for home mining. It doesn't even start with one fan, which I have tested. To compensate, putting the miner in a room with fans at 20-25% and a low ambient temperature should give you decent temperatures and good hashrate. If it runs too hot, underclock.

If it is a 45 chip 700 mhz S7 you can flash it with the S7-F1 firmware and run it with a single fan but there is no way to make it hash without at least one fan plugged in and readable by the OS.
