Title: Steemit, is it worth it?
Post by: Tyrantt on June 28, 2017, 11:06:49 PM
Is anyone here using steemit maybe? I've recently stumbled upon it and as much as I know it's a content sharing place where you can earn some money, yes? Can anyone tell me more about it, is it worth getting into, etc...

Too difficult to get the money through blogging on steemit right now. As far as I know, there are some elements you must fill it.
You must have a correlation with the bloggers that has big steem power to vote your blog or you'll never get anything.

My thought that tries to blog for the altblog campaign is much better than gain the vote in steemit.

Even tho it can't hurt to try, right? I'll see how it goes since I'm not hoping for payment that are high as 10$ or even some payment at all but you can never earn anything if you don't try. :p

Even a first time post on Steemit would earn you somewhere between $0.01-$1 without much effort. Though I don't post on Steemit at all, I like how news gets there fast, so I mostly just read what people write, and it's quite interesting. Anyone should really try it, even once.

Some people say that they are making a substantial income using Steemit, others are a bit skeptical and consider it a pyramid scheme. I had joined it since it looked similar to Reddit, but never been active.

There are many well known revenue sharing/content monetization sites, but Steemit is the first where developers used their own token to monetize the content and this is where the working model of Steemit could be compared to a pyramid scheme.

Quote
Some industry experts question the need for a unique token specific to steem when bitcoin or ether could be used. Others point out that "steem might be a Ponzi scheme, predicting that the digital currency 'will grow and grow until there are no fresh users to suck in and then quickly collapse,' a situation he described as being 'the Ponzi way.'"

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steemit

Quote
The developer, upon realizing that he had lost some control of the supply, decided to re-launch STEEM to ensure that he alone had majority of supply (at least 75%+ of supply). As you can see the developer did everything possible to ensure almost complete centralization.

Quote
All content on Steemit is highly censored and centralized since the few actual users who own majority of the supply get to decide which posts make it to the front page and which posts get higher payouts.

Quote
Simplified overview of STEEM and Steemit.
1. Rig the distribution process so that you end up with almost all of the STEEM supply.
2.Create a platform that allows for the monetization of content.
3.Make sure certain users get extravagant payouts to lure in more users (the payout is a tiny fraction when compared to how much STEEM you and your friends own).
4. As more people are lured in, STEEM becomes more ‘valuable’, resulting in those who own majority of the supply getting rich along with the select few they choose.

I am not saying Steemit is scam. I guess you will be able to earn a few cents, may be more if you post quality content, but still I do not agree with the revenue sharing model of Steemit.

I have read a more awful review about steemit than the one posted at https://decentralize.today/the-ugly-truth-behind-steemit-1a525f5e156 but the fact still remains unchanged because no system is perfect, every system have their DARK SIDE but the question and focus of the people should be shifted to whether they are paying or not?

I do not have any account with steemit but i feel most of this bad articles are been written by their competitors.

Well, this should be an altcoin discussion. But the idea of steem is brilliant, it is not the first paid to sociliaze website but they are great. Well still need to do a better UI.

Think about them, they created radio, chats, competitions, dozens of apps, right now there is an steem idol with kind of good prizes. Holly shit.

It is really nice. Enjoy it!

Reminds me of Bubblews, which is already down anyway.

So I've been using steemit for 3 days now and posting content throughout those three days and with every day the "value of my account" is dropping by 1c  :D there's so many things going around with steem, that 50%/50%, upvoting power,...

They try to encourage people to invest in the value of their account rather than sell straight out everytime they receive a payout ;)

I've tried to make an account on steemit months ago and start posting while believing that I can earn from that website but I guess it's too hard, I've tried to post there some poems made by me and from ma friend and some news and articles but It's just a waste of time for me to earn from there so I stopped posting and replying there.

So in your point of view, after trying it for 3 days, is it worth getting into? I have an account there but I honestly haven't tried to post my own content. I read few posts before and resteem but I got bored after some time. Maybe I would be into it if I do love writing that much.

Well for me if you won't spend anything on it then it is worth trying. From what I know of you get paid in terms of how many people will up vote your "blog entries" so with that in mind you must post something of quality in order to garner more up votes in your blog post. If you continue to maintain good quality post then soon enough you will gain followers of your own page. But there is no way to find out not unless you try it yourself.

I came across steemit on 2016 not knowing it will get this big. It's definitely a good platform. You earn with your content. The only issue with me is the price of steemit though. It might be too low in the future to not be relevant.

In my opinion it is actually worth getting into, especially now. If you like to write and read it is a must for you. You might get frustrated at first first, won't be getting much earnings. But keep doing quality posts and people will start following you. More followers = more potential of making money. And if a whale likes your post, consider yourself lucky ;)

you will earn money ,but the amount of money will greatly vary, depending on the quality of your content
to some 10$ a month from the site is more than enough, where you get like 50 cents per article, for some under 100$ is wasted time so you never know
also if you are lucky and have a couple of friends who are willing to share their Steem power with ya,chances are
you will get paid more and more with every post
do not expect to make a living from Steemit, but you can earn something compared to signature campaigns on bitcointalk, for example
although the amount of work could be much much more

Yeah, i have seen people like you and me earning enough from steemit but fir you need to collect a bunch of follower who will comment and upvote your articles.
Steemit is a compensative social media platform with unique blockchain based idea that pays you for every activity.
Unlike facebook, your time spent on steemit and effort is compensated by steem power, convertable into bitcoin.

It is absolutely worth it if you do it right. Good writing skills and general awareness will let you into the money making world of steemit.
You must have good vocabulary which will help you make good quality posts. Find good content to post which will help other users and give them your message well. If your posts are good it will automatically generate you good amount of audience to read your posts. Once that is done you will be getting good amount of upvotes which will give you a fare income. You don't have to worry about getting upvotes from whales if you have a large audience. If you are unable to all of this then there is another option to indulge in groups which upvote each other and groups with whale upvotes but I don't appreciate that since I believe in getting income genuinely rather than from such activities.

Same here, it looks like it takes luck to be able to make money there.
I'd rather do signature campaigns even though Steemit business model sounds good on paper.

I never had my article into steemit but I'm planning to get into with it when I've got collected most of my article about crypto's. I'm an article writer wannabe and it's a good place where you can share your ideas and in return you've got some rewards. The same site with bubblews as lumeire mentioned, one of my told me about that and I really can see that this is a good place to share knowledge while earning. But it looks like the hardship will be for real if you are really for the rewards there.

Well it is pay for post right? I find it qiuet interesting because the post that i saw was already at 1K$ and counting. And those are just post made by users. I did not know you could even get money just by posting. But i think it would take too long for us beginners to reach that kind of level. I just created an account and honestly, i dont receive any likes even if i make posts. Its a long way to new users.

So reopening those old thread, just wanna say, that steemit is great, the amount of work you put in is what makes way for you.

As with any ssytem in the world, it all boils down to how active you are on the site.

Plus, a lil politics, know the right people, interact and be an all round good guy
