Title: Successful Login from New IP [Poloniex]
Post by: p4md4 on July 08, 2017, 12:40:21 AM
Hello friends!

A few months ago I registered in poloniex, and after about 15 days I constantly receive emails with the subject: "Successful Login from New IP".

It is quite strange this behavior, it seems that my account was hacked.

Reviewing the history, I distinguish several accesses of different IPs different to my region. :(

I was also looking for information in San Google, and ended up publishing this post.

I leave as a reference, others I have read but no solution whatsoever.

There are a few other people experiencing the same issue as you.

It's not clear whether this is an insider job from poloniex because the occurances are so high. I would suspect that it's just some hacker maybe cracking easy passwords on poloniex, though. Can you still log into your account? If you still can, then change your password as soon as possible. Set up 2 factor authentication, write to support about it(though you'll probably never get a response back). Are the IP addresses VPN addresses or personal network addresses?

If the problem persists, just open a new account.

I guess opining a new account with a brand new email may resolve this issue or setting up 2FA. Did you lose any coins from your account or did you forward the mails to polo? Their support should handle this issue and block those IP addresses. I got such emails from the exchanges I used and the only thing I could do was to change my email. Some exchanges don't allow this and hence then create a new account and transfer your coins there.

Ive seeing this kind of thread all over again which is all about logged in on other IP. The most dangerous part on this one when you do have big amounts on your account stored. If you already set up a 2fa and still have been accessed then its already a serious matter. Have you contacted poloniex support on this matter? I'm eagerly waiting for their answer on this issue. If you already feel unsafe then create new account with new email with your clean computer from virus.

you have to set up 2FA, so even if a hacker has ur password, he won't be able to do anything, also scan ur PC and change ur password. and always use incognito.

Did you check if all these ips are not from your region ?
Because sometimes your router gives you a different ip address.

The best solution is just to add 2FA security to your account. That way it won't be possible for anyone to login to your account without your phone.

There's also a possibility that you have some type of malware or keyloggers on your pc.

TIP : Don't use the same email/pass combination anywhere else as well.

If you have any doubts:
1. Enable 2FA
2. Change password
3. Change email

Probably you have dynamic IP, i receive email almost every time i log in into poloniex.

Yep as others mentioned this happens if your ISP changes your IP every so often.  With DSL that happens with me.  My account has never been compromised but I have seen a number of these emails over the past year or more because of the changing IP from my DSL modem.

I have been in the same situation before. Because you didn't know the real deal here, then you must do some 'must to do actions' in times like that like other suggested e.g enable 2fa, changed password and so on and then just start to analyzed what really happened.

I might agree here since when the time Im experiencing that noticed, I was on PLDT DSL connection. When I changed to Sky Broadband, I never experienced that again. For OP, take this as reference.
