Title: Who is planning to sell their new gpus?
Post by: B1tUnl0ck3r on July 11, 2017, 08:17:29 PM
With the recent drop in returns are you planning to sell your new gpus, less than 1 month old? Just to know if a flood gpus is getting ready to hit the second hand markets.

1080 Ti, 3 weeks old: No.

I'd rather have my machine "resting" for a couple of months than trying to sell it.

Why would you want to sell a value producing asset? GPU mining is more profitable now than it has historically been, including 6 months ago. IMO, anyone who would sell their GPU's now got in for the wrong reasons.

The upcoming time is great to buy and expand.
Lets see if we can find some bargains.

We will perhaps consider selling cards that are already paid for awhile back... maybe, might just keep mining too since like I said they are all paid for already. The only GPUs we purchased in recent times were NVIDIA, so I'm not worried about their profitability going forward. Thankfully we started in February, so it's not going to be a burden financially even if the profits go down further.

I'm Hodling my 7x  1080 ti miners.  Just bought them a month ago,  i'll mine them 24/7/365 till i go homeless,  I don't even care if i'll mine at a loss with the  rising difficulty and crowded space.

A week ago and you could probably get top dollar. Today we are almost back to 'real' prices. I see lots of lisitings not being bought.

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/watson/components/ethereum-zcash-mining-rig-setup-over-500mh/1153002460

In Australia we say; Tell him he's dreaming.

As for me, I will run my 3 * 1080ti + 1070 until it no longer makes sense financially. I will also reduce to a single rig for better power efficiency.

I will still keep a firm grip on the crypto scene pulse, but if I'm spending more in ele than I am getting from mining, I will stop mining and buy $50 / w in alts.

Sold all my AMD cards for 400$, Ice age is coming (waiting maybe for vega will see, even if they are good, its going to be useless, because everybody will move from ETH TO ZEC, and thats the time show begins)

Not me, building a LAN and charging all of the section 8 neighborhood kids $5 to play rocket league which I got like 20 free codes for.

Making two times the cash I was mining.

May parlay some of that profit into a Candy/Gumball machine.

Already seen some rx480 for the equivalent of 215$ Usd here in Canada on Kijiji !!!! But still have plenty of suckers waiting to catch some fishes for 600$ Cad. Pawn shop gonna have tonnes of gpu soon. Sorry no Gpu for sale, already sold within hours all of my Amd rx4-5 for 350$us each almost 1 month ago and replaced with Nv gtx 1070. Right now they are pretty good at heating space at .05$ kw/h here in Great White North .....

Did I miss something? Should I panic? LOL

My only hope is to see some pretty pretty good deal on gpu sooner or later to build my super heater that gonna mine some magic coins worth .0000000000000000001 btc.

GOodByE Roi and free money.
2 options left for some of you: sink with the boat or jump out of it in icy cold water....

It was a fun ride.

Good luck!

12 x 1070's on the way :)

No need to sell your gear for loss. I just switched from ETH mining to Zcash.

The current dip is only 1 month maximum.

With selling you would lose 30% value of the GPU if you have a 1 month old one.

Give it a month, the bloodbath has Bearly begun.

This is a good quote, lets hope it does not come to that hehe. If it comes to that then many noobs will sell their gpu's to buy a nice cozy fabricated coffin and then commit suicide and then rest in peace hehe

fabricated coffins will likely reach its all time high very soon ehhe

If you noobs dont want to come to that then remember to hold your coins.

I see many people are selling their rigs after this crash. Most of them are new for mining. They don't know anything about mining. Before they start mining they were thinking that they just plug in and then start earning money, every month same amount. they didn't know how mining is difficult especially if you are new in this world. Now of course they are trying to sell their mining rig and get out of this difficult situation.

Haha, that's a good idea. We've got a bunch of rocket league codes just wasting space too. We're in the country though, so unless I can teach skunks, coyotes, and deer to play video games that plan might not work for us. lol

*We are still mining away just fine to clarify.*

Not true at all, people aren't selling because of crash, and they aren't new for mining either. You will see in a month why are people selling now at a price of 350/400$ per card, rather than at a price of 50/100$ per card.

Good luck.

I sold my RX480 gpus and received 477 USD for each gpu. Now, I plan to go with either 1080tis (Already have 2 msi gaming x), or I may invest in buying coins.

I made a point of NOT buying massively overpriced cards - and the cards I have bought all have "other uses" planned for them if mining profitability drops too far.

I suspect it's not going to get much if any worse than last summer though, folks will give up 'cause their high power cost makes it unprofitable for THEM in fairly high quantities long before it becomes unprofitable for ME.

I'm seriously considering shedding some AMDs now, the prices are still decent and with summer electricity prices it's depressing.  Not going to ditch my nvidias though, and will probably flip the money I get from the AMDs into a few 1080tis.  There's definitely still profit potential, and we're probably losing in the long term by selling now even at these inflated prices, but I want to downsize my footprints and consolidate into cards that will be more viable long-term, plus having 1080tis in rigs plus my main desktop will make me feel less bad whenever I want to play a game.  I feel dirty knowing I'm losing money just to be entertained for a few hours.

I think it's a good strategy if you sell AMDs right now and buy Nvidias because use less power and there is no problem with the hashrates
