Hello friends!

I have an Original 100BTC Unfunded Casascius Gold Plated bar I put on eBay, and I'd like more people to see it. This is the link:

Someone told me there were only 17 of these made? Can anyone help identify this?

Also, I am offering $100 to whoever on this forum can guess the closest final winning bid. These are the rules:

1. Please make your guess in $10 increments (rounded to nearest $10), this is not mandatory but will help (edited from $100 increments)
2. Can only guess once, do not edit, or delete your guess
3. Must guess no later than 1 hour before auction ends (so NOT within 1 hour of end).
4. Payment of $100 to winner will be made with PayPal, or sent cash/moneyorder in the mail, your choice
5. Auction must be completed and paid for before I can announce the winner
 
I suggest guessing now! The earliest guesses matter. If two people guess the same #, whoever guesses first wins.
I've been on ebay for 20 years now and I will hold up my end of this offer, please do not cheat or try any monkey business!
This is meant to be fun and help figure out the worth of this bar, plus return the favor to whoever guesses closest.

I've never seen one of these before.  It's not covered in the a Encyclopedia.  It's not a Unfunded 2FA Bar (4 made) nor a upside down holo with a dot (8 made).  Very interesting.

I think OP should clarify as MJ quoted the OP stating $100 increments, while the current OP stated $10 increments

I was hoping keeping it to $100 guesses to make it easier, but that will limit the number of total guesses possible. Also people would have to check previous guesses to make sure it wasn't a duplicate guess.

You don't have to guess in $10/$100 increments, so please feel free to guess your lucky number. It's just a request meant to make it a little easier.

it looks like it was originally funded with a small amount, along with a few other, what looks like, original transactions from Casascius to fund other coins.

Maybe he did this to check if the address worked? Just guessing...

Still not sure how to find out how many were made of these...hmm

 I do not know the mintage of these unfunded bars. But I think it is important to point out that the mintage of 17 speaks to the number of active version one bars, which were funded. I am not sure of the mintage of these but they are not, typically considered in band as they did not have funding.

 I would think that knowing the number of these that exist, would be important.

 I will guess $7260.

You're right MJ.  I was assuming based on the OP that these were unfunded 100BTC bars, but didn't notice when quickly looking at just the holo they are just regular bearer bars.  Not as rare as I thought.   They sold for about 1 BTC in the resale after market.

It was never meant to be funded by the maker. It was meant to be funded by the user if they are using it for long-term storage.

They're just very collectible because the rarity and are usually hard to find.
