Title: [RESOLVED] linuxcoin hangs at boot. Post by: Detritus on June 21, 2011, 04:17:59 AM I was recently referred to the linxcoin distribution as an easy method to get Linux mining up and running.
I have downloaded the 0.2a distro and flashed it to a USB stick with unetbootin and tried booting. The distro kernel hangs during loading with a black screen. The keyboard lights will not change state. Locked solid. Tried burning the image to a DVD and booting that. Same problem. The same machine runs Ubuntu, Win 7 x64, and anything else I through at it. Here's the specs on the box... Code: > Mainboard : MSI 890FXA-GD70 (MS-7640) Anyone have any idea why this wont boot? Title: Re: [RESOLVED] linuxcoin hangs at boot. Post by: Detritus on June 21, 2011, 05:21:34 PM I was able to get it to boot and run.
The problem was that I had enabled the IOMMU setting in my BIOS and that was causing the hang. I had enabled this setting after installing ubuntu on the box. I realized that some of the BIOS settings were the cause of the issue when I tried to boot from an ubuntu install disk and that locked up too. Title: Re: [RESOLVED] linuxcoin hangs at boot. Post by: TYDIRocks on June 21, 2011, 06:14:19 PM Glad you got it fixed. Maybe I'll use this, if I ever convince my dad to make a whole new system for mining lol
