Title: Opinion first bitcoin loaded wallet maile on postal cover
Post by: krogothmanhattan on July 27, 2017, 01:23:02 PM
Hi fellow stamp collectors and non alike...

                            See here on

                                                http://imgur.com/a/R2lh3

I wanted to be the first to postally mail on the outside of an envelope a loaded bitcoin wallet.

It shows the public address QR and the Private QR that is BIP32 encrypted with 0.02 BTC.

YES, you can scan the PRIVATE KEY and if you can crack the code you can have the 0.02BTC that is in it, but not the envelope. Goodluck!

                             https://blockchain.info/address/1AzREoFRBhmnvdvrFTibDZYi7Yfbq4u3sF

I tried to create a stamp but they do not allow QR codes on custom stamps. What do you guys think??

That is very cool, good idea.

Are you going to put it up for sale in the future?

Thankyou sir! It never really occurred to me to sell as I am a stamp collector myself. So this one is for my collection. But I can consider creating another one just like it and place an auction of people are interested

Ok..Give me an example..what do you mean custom? The significance of this is that it has gone thru the postal system. If you were a philatelist you would appreciate it much more. Please tell me what it is you are looking for? I will try and accommodate. :D

That is kinda neat it went through the postal system.  But maybe some sort of btc printed envelope paper wallet envelope.  Just throwing some ideas, not knocking it.

Yes I understand what you want..the whole concept behind my idea was to send a loaded wallet envelope in full display thru the postal system and it was acknowledged by it being cancelled via the post office. For a stamp collector that is key.

There is little eye candy so to speak. Look at what us philatelist who can pay do https://www.spink.com/press-releases/spink-breaks-six-world-records-in-one-auction.aspx

That being said, I will try make it a bit more decorative. I will then place the private key password in the sealed envelope. It will not be much, perhaps 0.01BTC. I mean you guys do not know me and I really have yet to build a good reputation.. But I think $25 is nothing to fear at the end of the day. I will close the envelope and burn/delete any other info related to private keys.

I don't think that putting the password inside the envelope is a good idea.
It would be better if you mail it to the buyer or something.

What happens when the post office post marks the QR code and then it becomes unreadable

Cool concept. I'd like to see a non bip32 encrypted one and see how many times you could send it without getting swept

Not a bad idea...i can make labels...i dont think it will get swept as majority of population have no clue what btc wallet is. But nice idea.

I like the idea! :)

Last year, I made a postcard doodle. (See below.) I believe it was given to Mitchell. I tried to convince him to actually mail it to someone, then place it on auction. I would've paid a bit of money to own an actual posted doodle, complete with international postage stamps, etc.

Good luck with the project, krogothmanhattan!

I have no idea where that doodle went. I either kept it myself or it was sent out as part of the group buy. I'll have to check when I'm visiting storage.

This is just a fun project. You are right not to place it inside envelope, but then again why would I use a wallet like this or send one like this when it can be done electronically? Its just the concept of a physical bitcoin being postally exposed, cancelled, sent and used. If you were a philatelist you would see it from a different angle.
