Title: Anywhere to trade on 1st August?
Post by: timerland on July 31, 2017, 10:19:53 AM
As we all know most exchanges will be closing all their trading activity in preparation of the 1st August event.

Is there any site on which you can still trade with existing balance(note existing balance, of course i don't expect to be able to deposit on that day) for altcoins as well as fiat $$$? If there are any, please let me know because i would like to trade on the day when it happens.

And also anyone else being bombarded with emails saying what will happen to user funds on 1st August from bitcoin accepting merchants? ;D

Thank you all!

If they are storing the funds in their desktop or hardware wallet then the merchants dont need to fear about 1st August as they will get the BCC Coins freely from after doing small procedure will be given after that day. About trading then i think most of the exchanges will be trading it for their users who are holding bitcoin in their exchange. Only deposit and withdraw will be in halt till the procedure is not finished.

Um... Actually bother to read the OP before you comment please?

As per my understanding what you said is false. Basically every single exchange and wallet service is both disabling deposit and withdraw functions AND trading between listed pairs on their exchange. I'm not sure why the second one is true, but it's just how it is.

e.g. coinbase: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/2844217-uahf-uasf-faq

To simplify my question - do i really need to wait for 2-3 days to trade my coin, after every exchange recovers or can i trade during 1st August on some particular exchange? If yes, which one is it?

Exchange is still available for other altcoin except for bitcoin. But if you mean bitcoin trading during August 1 and following day, then it is impossible for any exchange to allow bitcoin trading because bitcoin network that time is not yet stable on signalling segwit. Just for announcement coming from the miners about stability of bitcoin chain.
Wrong, I heared some friends tell in past time when have SegWit we still can trading on market, but can't send/receive this coin. Because the system on exchange still running normal and when you trading, it just transfer money under type data in system exchange, not use money of user for trading. So, you can see when trading we can create order instantly, not need time for wait confirm ;)

I think I saw that Bittrex will still be trading just not accepting deposits or withdrawals in btc which makes sense.  They will have a record of everyone's bitcoin balance surely during this period so should be able to continue trading?

they are not closing their doors and shutting down the website :D
some one them will only disable deposit and withdrawals to prevent mistakes from happening and all the problem of solving them. you CAN still trade on all the exchanges. unless they have explicitly said they will CLOSE down.

i am currently trading litecoin with bitcoin on both bittrex and c-cex and they both work fine. c-cex haven't even disabled the withdrawal!

Trading will probably not be stopped but at this moment is still not certain how the market will be react so this might be challenging and risky. Now I'm,realy curious how this is going to look like, wheteher there will be a mess for this day or everything will go on like any other ordinary day.

Yes, you can't trade bitcoin everywhere during August 1st because it just too risky and every bitcoin platform has to adjust hard fork nodes.
And most trading platform still allows altcoins trading, we know about that. But, there is BitPay which provides payment processing services for merchants, and one of the largest bitcoin payment processors has stated not suspend their services on August 1st https://news.bitcoin.com/bitpay-will-not-suspend-services-very-little-risk-of-network-disruption-on-august-1st/
I don't think we should wait 2-3 days for trading platform allow bitcoin trading as the hard fork may just negligible as the announcement said 13:00-23:59 UTC: split instructions and all-clear.

Yeah I'm getting that a lot today. Every possible bitcoin service is sending email that their deposit service will not available for 48 hrs or 24 hrs since 1st Aug.
As for the exchanges, I think most of the exchanges will remain fully functional except for depositing/withdrawing BTC. Trading altcoins should go around as usually, but I think it would be rather safe if you don't trade btc on 1st Aug, no matter what happens but there are going to be massive tides you don't know what BTC's price may be in the next 24hrs.

Yobit have already listed BCC trading and they have even given free BCC to their bitcoin holder but they have disabled BTC deposit/withdrawal already. I am regretting right now, I should have stored my bitcoin there yesterday so that I can be first one to dump on amazing price bcc have right now along with high price of BTC to dump at  >:(

You can trade altcoins in any exchanges for usdt/eth/ltc/doge denominations.

But it is highly recommended not to have any plan for trading on August 1st with bitcoins still theymos has updated this segwit activation is going to be non-event. But personally I will be staying away from trading until theymos will be announcing to resume bitcoin related activities.

I agree with you but if someone want to do trade then they have to escrow some altcoins and have to ask the person that they will send then BTC after the fork. So after 1st August you can release the BTC for which you have traded. I think that is the only option provided for if someone still want.

Thank you all!
bittrex, poloniex, VIPbitcoin still open altcoin-bitcoin trade.
Which will happen to your balance on August 1st is that there will be an additional coin on your wallet.
example. Bittrex will provide BCC and XLM if you save BTC in a bittrex wallet.

What are you worrying about? The August 1 schedule is not for all altcoins. It is solely for bitcoin. So where are you coming from? The trading sites are catering for so many altcoins that are not included in the segwit2x or hardfork. You can always do trading with these coins.

Most of the exchangers trading platforms will still be open to altcoins trading. Some have currently limit bitcoin withdrawal and deposit . Bittrex is still open to deposit and withdrawal and you can get free bcc  from them on August first and the August first is here and I do believe that this time tomorrow everything will normalize.

I chose not to make any transaction today. I'm afraid something bad happens. A week ahead seems like a good time.BTC

So you want to test if there are glitches that will happen and might profit from it?
Wow you are a riskbreaker.  ;D
I dont any and I want to just relax for this day. You might as well do just to clear the minds and give it a rest with the stress that is happening. Too many hoax now and too many fake news.

may be only OTC exchange can be run normally, but it's also risk to trade your Bitcoin now.

let's wait to the storm passed.

That’s a nice piece of advice. Right now, it is not a nice idea to trade with bitcoins but to hold. It is time to enjoy the Segwit aftermath. I am sure that bitcoins are going to jump to the sky today, leaving investors with enormous profit. As far as exchanges are concerned I think some of them are working for exchanging your BTC.
