Title: Mining Farm cooling. Circulating or suction?
Post by: vincl on July 31, 2017, 08:16:42 PM
hey guys,

i ordered 2x l3+ and 2x d3 in september batch. and now i want to start creating a little farm.

my father bought a old hotel with some empty rooms i can use (so no noise problems, i only have to make electricity).
i live in germany with high electricity costs, but when i make a company and have over 100.000kw/h per year i get a price of 3,5cents per kw/h.

i already made some researches for the cooling of my 4 miners in several videos and also on different forums

i plan to expand to about 15 miners in the future, so lets talk about 15kw which have to be cooled down

my brother thinks its the best to put single tubes on the end of every antminer and connect them with a big tube, and a fan pulls the hot air outside. but my suggestion was to buy 2 huge fans with 9000m3/h air movement so theres no time the air can get warm and immediately leaves at the top of the room. what would be the best option?

any other suggestions?

so lets talk about 15kw heat

Cold airpump running on +17 C  ??? I have dream myself to mining ethereum (example 8000 Mh/s) That needs own middle size or small industry space.

This year and in Germany the weather is unusually hot. Perhaps global warming is not a myth. To cool your room will not help the cooler air. This will only increase the cost of electricity. You need to make the room great air circulation. It is not easy to do so you'll have to bring in specialists. I saw a hangar which cool even at 33 degrees and no fan. Also, I seen in the sale of individual plate cooling, but how they work I don't know.

You can choose from the above according to your budget or electricity bill.
They method doesn't matter, just the thing which matter is keeping your hardware or ASIC cool. You can setup a air cooler to maintain the room temperature and then you can install some cooling fans to each individual hardware.

Ventilation specialist would really be needed here and hope theres one would able to comment on here on these kind of situation. Those tubes or ventilation would might do but this would really depend on your budget. Those idea would really be good since the warm air would directly go to the roof. For now better to observe the initial operations of your miners before minding on purchasing another miner.

I think it is too good and efficient to mine cryptocurrency in cold countries more than tropical countries, western region and china is so lucky because it is cold there.

Usually you can purchase miners on bitmain.  Heres the site Bitmain.com you can see those miners you are seeking for either on Bitcoin asic miners or even on LTC. They do base from china as far as I know if you are really willing and eager to buy miners then this would be the best place if you cant find it on your country.

sure it is that why Iceland more popular for that.natural cooling system more efficient for it .

I was thinking about this for pure ten minutes and imagined what could be done. I think suction is not best option or not enough option to cool down your miners.

As your brother stated here
Quote

this looks little incomplete to me. With suction you will be creating one way drag of air load and this will make your big tube very very hot. As there is no air circulating from outside in, this will again heat up the rest of room due to that bigger tube as for now it is working like radiator. To overcome this one you will have to put in stream of cool air from outside which will balance the room atmosphere. Believe this is what will happen.

I offer you this: give your father an interesting proposal - a business house heating project. You take warm air and use it to heat the room through ventilation. Such solutions already on the market.

48000 BTU=14kW, so I would go with 2 common 24000 BTU wall air conditioners (cost like 500€ a piece), plus the tube constraction suggested by your brother.
