why they called it "Bitcoin cash", it's like a joke to me (eventhough i know this is something big ;D), they should named it better maybe X-Bit or Satoshi Coin, rebrand it to Bitoin cash is just make this coin image become a poor imitation.

It's not a bad thing at all. We gained some more asserts, dumped for BTCs, and get more BTCs, excellent.

Thats because its a scam coin first it was Bitcoin-XT then Bitcoin-Unlimited, Bitcoin Classic, Bitcoin1, BitcoinABC, The name is meant to trick people into thinking its the real Bitcoin.

Every time I read about Bitcoin Cash I get more confused.

That's the consensus. But the consensus (in markets) is usually wrong. I.e. When everyone thinks the price is going to moon, it usually drops. This is why the commitment of traders (e.g. BTCUSD sentiment on BFXdata) is commonly used as an indicator by traders. It's important to know when the market is heavily weighted towards one position--that side will often get squeezed.

I don't think BCC is useful as an altcoin, but that doesn't mean it will be worthless. Speculators gonna speculate.

it is FREE money because it is practically copying the 16.4+ million bitcoin and gives the same amount to everyone 1:1
the value will drop because that is what happens when you give free money to people. just the same as altcoin airdrops to bitcoin holders. (check a couple of them and you'll see).

becoming worthless and die is another discussion though. there are a lot of things at play for that in my opinion. the main thing will be mining. you see bitcoin mining is very expensive and the only source of income for the miners comes from the coin's price and when it is low and falling they can not continue mining for long because they will be losing a large amount of money for the costs of mining and missing the opportunity to mine bitcoin and get the high priced coin instead.

Haha but when have some news talking about hold Bitcoin can receive "free coin" Bitcoin Cash, a huge number trader sell their altcoin with cheap price and going to Bitcoin just want for receive it after SegWit. I very happy when they decision that, just by shitcoin they sell potential altcoin cheap price helps me, I will waiting the panic time after distribuite Bitcoin Cash and enjoy :P

Changing the symbol from BCC to BCH on the client and websites would help the brand as BCC is already taken. ViaBTC can't just expect BitConnect to go away just because they would rather use BCC for Bitcoin Cash. It looks like several exchanges are standardizing on BCH (BCash). Trezor has also. Having the brand consistent across exchanges is good for business and avoids confusing buyers. 

Yobit gave everyone free BitcoinCash last night, so they are trading something that doesn't exist yet lol. Ticker there is BCC and in the other Exchanges, it's BCH and BCF lol. Oh what confusion we weave rofl.  ;D ;D I will get less than half a BTC of BCH so that won't make much difference to me, a restaurant meal or a gift or my Son at most. If the price tanks then I might scoop up a few.

People behind BitcoinCash should have made their research well before using the ticker BCC. We already know that it is being used by BitconnectCoin (BCC) so there is no point for them to continually use the same ticker as it can create some form of confusion. Good thing they are now using another ticker but this can be not a good sign for a new altcoin though I am still wishing BCH a good luck since I might also have them in Bittrex as a free coin.

I viewed BCH as something like an enemy of Bitcoin but I am now changing that view since there can be a space for BCH in the big cryptocurrency market we have. Let it have a life of its own though nobody expecting it to be so big...especially that it can easily be compared with the real Bitcoin.

They might get a lot of miners and some users from the JihanVer supporters, but the merchants is a whole other story. The original Bitcoin <BTC> has a wide network of merchants and Bitcoin ATM's and that count in their favour. ^smile^

I think Bittrash is the more appropriate name and it also resolves the issue with the ticker. :)

a very good point lies in your topic here. it is starting to look pathetic. all the attempts to "rebrand" bitcoin and call it weird names is not going to work. bitcoin will remain bitcoin it doesn't matter how many different individuals or small groups of people fork from it.

you can create as many forks as you want and name them "bitcoin A" to "bitcoin Z" and everything in between, it won't make them bitcoin. it will make them an altcoin which is taking advantage of bitcoin's name.

Misleading.  BITMAIN are not yet supporting Bitcoin Cash and don't have control over it.  It's more to do with ViaBTC.

I kind of agree with leaving the name as it is.  I'm all for changing the ticker to BCH over BCC, but the name itself is fine.  It leaves a distinction between itself and the earlier/legacy chain without pretending to be completely unrelated.

It's not the same as these attempts.  Those ones required consensus, whereas BCH does not require consensus to come into existence - the ones listed there either did not exist or were just alts rather than forks of the BTC blockchain which could also be regarded as alts.  They are very distinct from BCH.

You are completely right and miners are completely right to create even more confusion regarding their altcoin.
They want the new name to be as similar to standard bitcoin ticker as possible - the more confused users who will think that BCC is legit the better for them.
It will allow Bitmain to manipulate the price with even greater ease.

their not yet supporting it officially yes bc they have to hold on to the NYA and cant lose face by abandening it last minute. They have financial relationship with viabtc and created the software supporting the fork right? So little hard to believe they have nothing to do with it imo

and are backed by the same people and miners

they are all also were based on consensus once but when SegWit support started growing and reached a high level that it became clear to the above team that their proposal is dead in the waters they changed the consensus they were looking for and removed it completely. jut to hide this fact they started a new name. this is just a rename of "XT", "Classic", "Unlimited" nothing more.

the other guys above are listing clients that did not want bilateral splits. even gmax admitted the list refused a bilateral split.



the list of clients do work on bitcoin mainnet but with functionality/features which core refuse to implement
