Title: Need advises on bitcoin farm noises control
Post by: webzone123 on August 02, 2017, 05:30:12 AM
I'm going to run a bitcoin farm with 100-200 units of Avalon 741. before sign the lease agreement with the commercial building landlord. I need advises on noise control. Because the building is located at downtown of a small city. the noise level of one avalon 741 is about 72db. 100-200 units with power supplies, the noise level should be 95db-100db. It is pretty high, right? Can I control the noise to a certain level which will not disturb public? Is it costly? what's your experiences?

Thanks,

The Avalon's are each about as loud as a shopvac. As long as the building is stand-alone so you are not sharing walls or ventilation ducts with neighbors should be fine. Biggest thing is to remember that you will need massive airflow to get rid of the 101-202kW of heat they will produce.

Okay if you set to -2 sound drops.

100 of these will be loud.

But cooling would help sound a bit.

Ie if you keep room at 80 f or lower fans will be under 50 percent.

This is loud gear but not crazy screaming loud like the s-9

Make sure the walls aren't paper thin and get some soundproofing material in between them if you are sharing space. Airflow helps a lot, getting one big push and one big pull fan to assist in cooling off the miners helps a lot. For temps, 85C is the highest I'd go before shutting a miner down and looking at it. Room temperature should ideally be around 70-80 if possible. You can add more push and pull fans if needed for additional airflow if you have dead air pockets. Also, make sure you have your miners neat and cables tied up. It isn't a whole lot but helps a lot in terms of airflow and temps.

Thanks for the useful info!

The building shares walls with two other shops, i think the wall is made by brick and may be double wall. I'm not sure.

Aside from that, you can get soundproof material, such as acoustic foam layered on the walls, this should reduce the noise going outside, its the same stuff they use on music studios etc. or you can use room in a room strategy, but that might not be a good idea if you want to use that many miners
