Today, NVIDIA released the CUDA 9 Release Candidate (RC), the fastest accelerated computing platform for HPC and Deep Learning applications.

Release Highlights:
    •       Faster libraries: 2X - 5X faster libraries including cuBLAS, cuFFT and NPP
    •       Cooperative Groups: New programming model with high-performance APIs and primitives for thread management
    •       NVIDIA Volta: Supports the next generation of NVIDIA GPUs

Apparently no speed increase came out of it for mining and it can be even slower, as per Epsylon3:

yes... sm_61 is an emulation of sm_60 P100 fp16 stuff, and when used (look like it is sometimes) its slower than normal ops generated for sm_5x ... So nothing changed for the GTX (and mining cards) about that since CUDA 8

This release is prolly for Volta implementation, nvidia like to give fresh and working driver with a released new card. Every one speak about AMD vegas i think nvidia will do better, less power / more efficienty / more hashrate

whats timing for these new Volta? I could not find anything.

Man, thats a bummer. I read the title for this post and got all excited haha. Hopefully we will see SOME increase... once its released to the public.

2018, so don't worry about it now, but it's true that volta will be a monster, nothing like the change from maxwell to pascal
