Title: 6x 1060 GeForce Miner
Post by: RigbyDigby on August 04, 2017, 03:27:35 PM
I have been seeing that this is a good mining setup.  We have a Z170A mobo with the 6x 1060 dual fan gpu's.  We have been running into a few issues so far.

1.  Trouble getting the 6th card working.  (We have been able to correctly connect 5/6)

2.  When we are using the 5 gpu's for testing purposes the miner will crash and freeze the computer after about 20 minutes.

If anyone knows anything about this style of rig and has any idea about solutions I would appreciate it.

Have you set it to gen1or2 pcie in the UEFI? Have you started woth stock clocks for the cards and got it running first? Are you using MSI afterburner to adjust clocks? What OS are you running? What memory do the cards have (download gpu-z to find out?

You can try running one miner per card. I've seen this setup work at a friend.

We have them set to gen1 in UEFI.  Yes we have not adjusted the clocks although I have MSI afterburner on there but looking for optimal overclock settings.  We are running Windows 10.  The cards are 6gb.

Ive found the latest drivers to cause crashes. Newest stable drivers for me on my windows10 system is 372.70. Try turning back the drivers.

steps to make it work

1. update the mobo to the latest driver
2. update windows 10 to latest driver
3. your psu might be the culprit. (calculate for total wattage consumption using watt meter)

Shoul describe your hardware/software config more detail. I've MSI Z170A Pro mobo based rig with 6xGTX1070. After updating the BIOS works well with Win8.1, Win10, Ubuntu 16.04. What is your PSU?
