Title: [Discussion] Coins with the best distribution? How to distribute a coin fairly?
Post by: solarrobot on August 07, 2017, 01:47:02 AM
I'm participating (or trying to) in the ONION airdrop right now (as you can see by my signature). It got me wondering, what coins have the best distribution? Or a more specific question, what were the most interesting distribution methods that you have seen?

ONION has a 40 week distribution, where they are airdropping on the bitcointalk forum. There are rules around moving more than 20% of your coins before the airdrop is over to reduce a dump on exchanges. They also really make you work for it, you have to have 10 solid posts a week on the forum (this is a bit frustrating to me as i find the posting structure of bitcointalk to be a bit old fashioned, and find that it is full of people who have no idea what they are talking about).  But either way, they ensure that you have to be dedicated in order to recieve the airdrop, or already be a hardcore troller here on bitcointalk  :P
This is a very fair (no one has a huge advantage), but simultaneously exclusive distribution (because of it's restriction to bitcoin talk).

I'm also really interested in Byteball (not just because of it's distribution, but the tech too), i think their airdrop on bitcoin and on bytes themselves is fun, every month on the full moon! You can even start to see the price of bytecoin move with the tide!  Any one that is in crypto probably has a small chunk of bitcoin, so this creates fair opportunity for most any one to access the airdrop. But if you already have a shit ton of bitcoins, you have a huge advantage over someone who doesn't.

What are some other airdropped coins, or coins distributed in interesting ways (past or present)?

Let's avoid turning this into a namedropping thread, i'd like to hear about different distribution models, and not just have another thread where people list the coins they are invested in
