Title: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 08, 2017, 04:16:44 AM Hi
I've just installed a desktop Armory Wallet v1.35. I generated BTC receive addresses and sent BTC from another wallet. The BTC has been confirmed as sent, 18 hours ago. In Armory I can see a wallet but it is encrypted. How do I open it? The Spendable funds are shown as zero. Thanks Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: HCP on August 08, 2017, 07:14:52 AM Hi v1.35?? ??? :o Where did you get this from exactly? The most recent "official" release by goatpig is v0.96.1 and can be found on the btcarmory.com website here: https://btcarmory.com/0.96.1-release/I've just installed a desktop Armory Wallet v1.35. If you downloaded it from anywhere else, you most likely have either malware or a "fake" version that just "generates" the address of the hacker to trick you into sending them BTC :-\ Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 08, 2017, 11:44:59 PM Thanks for getting back.
I downloaded from https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/download/. Strange - on the Home page it says .96 but on the wallet page it's 1.35 - https://www.screencast.com/t/D7Ph5f5HvinJ. So it looks like it's a legit version. With that said, do you know how I can access the wallet details? Thanks Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: HCP on August 09, 2017, 03:39:22 AM ahhhh... that's the "wallet format" version number... NOT the application version number ;)
I see you are on 0.96... you should try upgrade to 0.96.1 from here: https://btcarmory.com/0.96.1-release/ FYI, BitcoinArmory "changed hands"... the old company (using the bitcoinarmory.com site) no longer maintains or supports Armory... it is all being looked after by goatpig now... and the new URL is btcarmory.com. Additionally, you do realise that you need to be running a Bitcoin Core node right? Armory uses the block files from a full node to build it's database...It isn't a "light" wallet like Electrum. Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 09, 2017, 05:06:15 AM "you need to be running a Bitcoin Core node" - you got me; not only do I not have it, I've also no idea what it is or how to do it. I've only used "light wallets" like Exodus, Jaxx, etc.
I've had a quick search and, as Winston Churchill said, "I'm better informed but none the wiser." I'm going to follow this and if it's ok, if I run into any issues, I'll get back to you. Thanks for the tip on the core node. Regards AH Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: HCP on August 09, 2017, 05:16:26 AM Basically, you need to download Bitcoin Core, install it and let it sync up the entire blockchain... Note: This will require a lot of time and around 140Gigs or so of harddrive space...
Actual time to sync is dependent on your CPU, HDD and internet connection... but it will most likely be measured in days. :-\ Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 09, 2017, 05:52:57 AM I'm now only 5 years and 28 weeks behind :-)
Thanks for your help. Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 17, 2017, 08:54:40 AM Hi
I thought I'd just update where I am at. 12 days after starting the node sync, there are only 11 weeks to go. :-) I expect it will take quite a lot longer yet as in the last 11 weeks there has been the most bitcoin activity. SO maybe late Sept I'll be synced. :-) Cheers AH Title: Re: Armory Wallet problem Post by: NZKrypto on August 21, 2017, 12:45:45 AM It's all synced and my BTC are shown in the Armory wallet. Thanks for your advice.
