Title: How Are You Tracking Your Crypto Investments?
Post by: Dudeperfect on August 10, 2017, 04:18:35 PM
Hi, I recently started to invest some amount in altcoins along with my existing Bitcoin investments and the very first thing I realised that tracking the multiple investments was the problem as I rarely buy more than one alt-coin from the single exchange.

I recently came across this portfolio management site and I am impressed with it. How many of you are already using Cryptocompare for tracking your investment portfolio?

They have some additional interesting features like (maintaining sales, risk analysis, advanced chart, accounting etc) and they are going to turn it into paid subscriptions in the coming period.

I am mainly looking to track my long term cold storage investments so I don't think I would need those features as of now or at least in next 2-3 years.

Do you know any better alternative? Please let me know.

Blockfolio is good, but lacks some price pairs, also if they have iOS widgets that be awesome!

For me I do it using a spreadsheet in google spreadsheets.

I just put down the info I need to know for future reference.

USD amount bought, price bought in, how many, date, what exchange fee was to buy in, transfer fee to transfer out to my wallets.

Ican access my googlespreadsheet whenever I want from my phone if I need to and I like to later update it with other calculations when I am on my PC. Ihave other spreadsheets tied in to it for more advanced calculations and figuring out future prices in a week/2 weeks/3 weeks etc(based on news, development and other stuff).

I am right most of the time :)

Yes, I also have Blockfolio on my phone but when it comes to the user experience (UX/UI) I found it little boring.

There is no official app of Cryptocompare but I found that mobile version of their site is not much weird to use.

That's really a clever idea but today on this world lazy day, I confess that I am lazy to do that thing. Would you like to share a demo with 'copy this spreadsheet' link? I am sure it would help everyone on this board.

I've been using blockfolio and it's pretty good. the main disadvantage of blockfolio is that portfolio can be viewed only on mobile phones. i think i'll start using (altpocket.io), looks good.

Given that I only have a few coins at the moment, it is quite easy to track them.

However, if I buy more going forward then I will consider using a service to track them more easily.

Well it is easy to track your trading. Simply download the application tabtrader in your android or iphone phone. And you can track your trading everywhere you can track it for example from bittrex, poloniex and other cryptocurrency exchangers. Well I think downloading tabtrader could make a trader's life the easiest. Try to do it that is thr alternative that I can see.

I just wish there was somewhere simple to upload your public key or your address and from there it would convert everything to usd. Does such a thing exist? Is blockfolio the closest thing?

I havent track any amount lol not even a single penny. Usually i am emptying my wallet and when i invest my money back to btc i just make sure to have a profit then empty my wallet again.  In terms of holding i have a separate wallet for that and all of that amount are from a small time earnings

We can do that with some websites/apps or even use public block explorer for that particular coin but in that case, we can't enter the purchase price so it makes difficult to track actual profit or loss in that way.

I am happy with the overall user experience of Cryptocompare but I thought to take the opinion of the community to know if there is any better option.

Google Spreadsheet is one of a good idea to do it yourself thing to track investments.

I can vouch for Blockfolio. Also look at TabTrader, its api access to all your favorite exchanges gives you a more real time account of your worth, although you cannot manually add holding to Tabtrader. They must actually be on your account, at an exchange.

Blockfolio is the opposite. You add holdings manually, but have to make manual adjustments to your holdings when they change. A plus with blockfolio is that new coins appear almost instantly, the devs stay right on top of the markets it seems. TabTrader may add a coin as soon as its on an exchange, but you cant trade them sometimes (Eth tokens are sooo bad for this).

Since I hold my most of the investments in cold storage, I am not sure if TabTrader is useful in my case or not. I usually buy altcoins from some exchange and transfer it to my offline wallet so am I supposed to connect my exchange account with TabTrader (little scary) or can I just put my public wallet address and acquisition cost?

Very powerful and looks to be well supported, but pricy subscriptions. Curious as to how the free version compares with other free tools, if anyone has used it and can give pros/cons on it versus other options.

Hello everyone,

these are some interesting sites.

Until now I was tracking my investments with an excel sheet, which I update on a regular basis. However, this is quite some effort.
Do these sites offer any privacy protection or similar? I might look into this sometime in the near future.

Kind regards,
Halcyon D.

Yes, I am aware of Blockfolio app but I find it less user-friendly (probably less attractive UX/UI) as compared to that of Cryptocompare. It is the fact that Blockfolio is free and Cryptocompare is going to charge its users so we shouldn't ask for more if we are not paying for something. As of now, Cryptocompare is free to use but as it is in beta stage and stable version will be subscription based as mentioned on their site.

If we can maintain personal spread sheet that could be great. But some people may call it time consuming. But in my opinion every body needs to calculate his own portfolio every day, how bank calculate. If there is any app which can calculate automatically that could be awesome.

I have been trading before and I am using cryptocompare.com and it was very helpful during my trades. Especially if you are trading on a certain coin and you want to compare the prices on different exchanges then that site is perfect since you can see the different values of a certain coin on all exchanges that trades it.  But of course this website serves only as a guide but the technique and analysis must be done by yourself.

People are using blockfolio in android for a simple use, but it has not really much features on it and the price is not always up to date.
If you are a serious trader, i recommend you to use fintab in desktop version, you can see many features on it and it really fit for professional trader.

There are now a lot of crypto tracking apps so you can easily see the live increase and collapse of your crypto investment. This may help you Blockfolio Apps and Delta Apps here you can easily find out if your investment price rises and falls and you'll also see how much your investment raised and dropped.

We all talk about that one app Blockfolio.
The best thing about it is that if you invest in shitcoins, you will have a hard time to find an app that has your coin. But Blockfolio seems to have almost every coins and tokens, even the ones you dont even hear about. I think they update coins as soons as its released just after some days.
But when you have this app you will also have to keep it with you whenver you make a trade or you will lose your tracks.

I have been using for a long time blockfolio and Delta apps (android). Both are very useful and practical. Delta allows you track multiple accounts if you buy paid version  also change your BTC to your national current ( i'm in Turkey, Blockfolio shows me just dollars i have, Delta gives me Turkish Liras).

You can use these two apps. I prefer Delta more than Blockfolio.

The most convenient way to track your portfolio is CoinLoop

You can get your holdings added and imported in a flash and it has the best UI and functionality out there.. hands down. It gets my vote above competitors like CoinTrackr, Blockfolio, CoinFYi and the rest.

I do not use any external application for tracking my crypto investments. I rarely sell any coin and whenever I sell, I sell in profit only.

If I have to see past trades or price at time of purchase, all that is recorded in the exchange I am using.

I'm using blockfolio an apps for smartphone that can track our savings and also show it current value.
But actually i also write in a microsoft excel every time i buy a coin or i get a coin and i wrote the current price when i get the coin also, so i can track my benefits.

I've only used Blockfolio and Delta apps. I will definitely try Cryptocompare from now, looks interesting.

An android app called Blockfolio. Is perfect

I too use Blockfolio. Been inlove with it since the first time I used it. Some problems with some tokens. But still greatly usable.

I have a problem with Delta app, UI text seems too big for my screen.

I have other spreadsheets attached to it for more advanced calculations and find out future prices in a week / 2 weeks / 3 weeks etc (based on news, developments and other stuff). Just download the tabtrader app in your android phone or iphone. Yes, I think tabtrader downloads can make the life of an easy trader.

I think there are some tracking software for your portfolio, for example blockfolio.
You can search other software as well. Nowadays is very easy to track with your smart phone only.

Before now I don't something like this exist. Is a good development to have a platform where you can easily monitor all your investments and trading.

you can use Altpocket is a social network that meets cryptocurrency trading. This is a web platform that lets you track your portfolio and can share information to compare yourself with other users or friends. In addition you can see your transaction history when buying and when to sell.

I think you can consider the coin Storm, among others, this site already has ready-made customers, and this is quite an important aspect in the selection of coins, even in 2018m year, when most coins offer just an idea and possibly in the future the finished product. I think it's been a while since we could sell air.

I rarely keep track of my crypto investments. Because I'm making some long-term investment altcoin. I only see the prices of the altcoin that I am investing once a month. This has helped me never get stressed

Blockfolio to me is the most convenient, (the only drawback is that it has no PC version). Support for thousands of coins. What really makes me like it is the option to choose which exchange U would prefer the price of a particular coin to reflect. It's very comprehensive

I also use blockfolio and it is good because most of my crypto currency investment can be monitored there. I always look as well at the coinmarketcap.

For me I do it using a spreadsheet in google spreadsheets.

I agree with your statement.
I always keep my notes on Google Spreadsheet which are specifically open for myself (but not passwords and private keys).

When I need it, I immediately click the Chrome bookmark and darrraaaaaaaamm all my notes are there.

The convenience thing about blockfoliio is you can use it on your phone. There are some app other than blockfolio though, you can search it.

This is how I set up my wallets and investment on my computer. First I have my personal browser which contains the sites I have saved particularly wallets, and then I also have a note wherein it contains my wallet keys, address etc. Weekly I check my wallet because I used to join bounties and airdrops as well. After checking my coins and tokens in my wallet I was researching it on the internet. When the coins or tokens haven't any chance to increase its price I sell it and buy coins and tokens that has a potential of increase.

Delta is buggy. It has good UI but it looks like developers are not doing any testing. They build the app and launched it. Moved back to blockfolio and using another app Cryptorai. It’s new but has a lot of features including API integration and google backup and sync.

If I have to look at past transactions or prices at the time of purchase, all those transactions are recorded in the draft that I am using. I tested different things and finally Delta from Opus labs was for me a most user friendly. Just download the tabtrader app in your phone or your iphone.

You are quite spending quality time with your investment to make your own Cryptocurrency.

Blockfolio is pretty decent for me like anyone here would say to you. Hats down to you bro for being hardworking and always looking out for

news. I know a lot of people who don't even mind to check their own investment one by one.

Same as blockfolio, im using imToken app downloadable from playstore for cryptocurrency stacking and storing secured and safe. I spend my night checking my cryptocurrency investments, the price, total, coin price movement and loss. It is very addictive where you are very conscious about your investment whether you are losing or winning but a good thing.

Blockfolio is good, but lacks some price pairs, also if they have iOS widgets that be awesome!

yeah blockfolio is good but there sometimes blockfolio didnt give actual price on the exchanger. thats why i suggest you should watch it manually every hours. that way you wont avoid pumping in altcoin. but try other blockfolio it is good

Please use google docs as you can customize it. I think there are some tracking software for your portfolio, such as portfolio. Nowadays it is easy to trace just with your smartphone. Is a good developer to have a platform where you can easily track all your investments and business. I think it's been a long time since we can sell the air.

I use Google spreadsheet on my PC to track all my crypto currencies with the date I bought, the price and the price now. But it's a little troublesome because the input is manual but it's okay. Whereas on my android phone, I use the google app service called blockfolio and so far it's good for tracking my crypto.

That's really a clever idea but today on this world lazy day, I confess that I am lazy to do that thing. Would you like to share a demo with 'copy this spreadsheet' link? I am sure it would help everyone on this board.

Same here! Guilty as a goose when it comes to pure laziness!

I mean my dad makes a spreadsheet act like it can solve all your mathematical equations and data recording needs but i would much appreciate a hand me down form that has been proven tested effective instead of creating mine and trying it out with a hit and miss approach.

So yeah, it would really be much appreciated if you could share with all of us how you do it with spreadsheet, it will really be cool i'm sure.

And since a few years i only invest in Bitcoin. Be course i think bitcoin gives the charts when it goes down all coins going down and when it goes up most coins going up.

Before I was using a spreadsheet along with other tracking sites. It requires me a lot of time to analyze and input details depending on the market trend. Then I came to realize if there will be an all in one platform that can help me with my trading journey soon. Then I find Cryptocurrencies AI which will launch it Beta this coming November 5.

Just input your email on the link to join the beta test for free.
