It depends on which wallet you use.
I think there is no diffrence between sending 1000 satoshi or 1000 bitcoin. Just better to use other cryptocurrencies (if possible) to avoid high transaction fee

You will probably have to pay a fee that is much higher than the payment itself.

Another problem can be that the transactions are considered dust and they will sit there very long if you don't include a decent fee.

I think you really can't send that very small amount because it is small. You should make ut bigger un order for you to withdraw or to send that amount. Because for a fact that I haven't known any wallet that makes you withdraw a small amount of money. So put some work on it. Make it big and probably you can withdraw a higher amount of value. If you are to withdraw that i think that is just for the fee.

I think you cant send 1000 sat only ... because 1000sat is every small for the transaction then + the fee i think fee is higher then on your payment if you pay 1000sat

What's the easiest way to send small 1000 satoshi payment?

there is a perfectly good reason that it is not easy to send 3 cents worth of bitcoin, and that is to prevent spams that will only waste block size.
if you really want to send 1000 satoshi then use another altcoin. Dogecoin is a good example in this case the fee is 1 Doge and that is already worth less than 100 satoshi. and tipping it is easier.

otherwise add all the payments together and let it grow bigger than 1000 satoshi and then send.

you can sent it using free charge. but it will take year to complete the block.lol.
better you safe it and do some job in here to make more some satoshi in here. there was a lot of job you can do to make more satoshi. dont kill yourself because of 1000satoshi. how to sent it. it waste of time to think a thing that can make u headache.
why dont join us and start doing a job instead ask for a impossible question.
when you have enough satoshi. you will not even bother about sending the payment ofcourse. just my two cent bro.

You can't send 1000 satoshi since there is a transaction fee higher than 1000 satoshi. The minimum transaction fee I got is 5k satoshi and the wallet told me that I can't send such small fee. I think you need to send satoshi higher than the transaction fee. I tried also too when I pay for the ban appeal here and it needs 4k satoshis but I paid 5k satoshis since 4k is still small to send. I recommend to use other currency to pay a small amount such as litecoin.

Transfer of such amount on Bitcoin network is not viable option. Better use internal networks of various web wallets or micropayment sites.
For example incase of web wallets, email to email transfer on Coinbase is free of cost and instant. Alternatively if you wanna maintain anonymity, use micropayment services like FaucetBox which allows free of cost internal BTC transfers between addresses.

There was a time when you could have sent 1000 satoshis without any fees, microtransactions, on chain, gone long are those days. Basic rule now, the amount you are sending should be more than the transaction fee. There is something called dust transactions. If I am not wrong the minimum output is 5460 satoshis (Core), minimum default amount.

You would be able to process microtransactions when LN comes into effect.

You can't send a 1,000 satoshi payment.

It is pointless as fees are generally at least 8,000 per transaction.

The only real way to do it is if you are on an exchange and you can just transfer from one account to the other without any fees.

Have you comparated the fees for a transaction of the same amount? Yes Doge is an option if you found anyone who accepts dogecoins

This amount is unprofitable to send and it is a problem. The only way which allows to do it via Fiat. Such small transfers You need to send with credit card. But I think that there you pay for the transfer more than the amount you send.

Title: Re: how to send 1000 satoshi payment?
Post by: Iranus on August 12, 2017, 04:30:33 PM
Such small transfers You need to send with credit card.
Credit cards are so impractical for small transactions that most pubs and clubs in my area refuse to accept credit cards for payments of less than £10.  PayPal charges a static fee of £0.2 for all transactions in addition to their fee of 3.4%.

Most nodes will refuse to relay the tiniest microtransactions and mining pools will refuse to include them in blocks.  You'll notice that the addresses that were spamming the network a while ago usually actually sent transactions of about 0.0001 BTC (10,000 satoshi) rather than 0.00001 BTC (1,000 satoshi).

Sending a transaction that small is technically possible but it's so impractical (just like with credit cards and PayPal) that there's not really any point.

You can set a custom transaction fee with https://coinb.in/ but confirmations may take some hours. You can try this free transaction accelerator for faster confirmations: https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

Could look at something like Coinbase, given it's a private DB to settle transfers they may allow sending such small amounts.  Clearly the other person would need to amalgamate lots of these before they could withdraw the funds on the blockchain.

LN should help with this in time but I expect the fees will still be too high for this to be viable in early days unless you are doing lots of these 1000 satoshi payments.

Another approach is to do a payment channel with someone, again you'll need to do a lot of tx's before this was worthwhile doing.

There is no easy way to send that because if you only send 1000 satoshi your fee will be much higher than the satoshi that you will send. And also the time of confirmation will be a problem for that transaction. It will be better if you just keep it and use another cryptocurrency like ethereum, litecoin or dogecoin.

Chances are you will be paying a lot more on transactions fees alone than on the payment itself. I'm not sure why you would want to send 1000 satoshis on the bitcoin chain but if you really want to you will end up either paying a higher fee or your transaction will be stuck for quite some time.

This is the base level of using coins, you have to get it together on some of these points, or lose everything pretty quick. This is why the crypto world is so hard to track and hold down, because there are too many people that have coins and do not know that basics.

At todays transaction fees it is totally waste to send 1000 satoshi payment as the fees itself is high and even 1000 satoshi is useless as this can be earned in any faucet. So OP better to accumulate more and then send high satoshi as payment.

i think its possible to send that verry low amount of satoshi's because i saw someone does it on the services section hes paying also a small amount of satoshi to the people who completed his task but his doing it batch by batch or sending it to multiple wallet address in one transaction. so i guess if you do it on only one person your only wasting your time and bitcoins because probably it wont arrive or miners would ignore it if your fee is lower to 1000 satoshi.

It can be done, but you will have to persuade  people who will be receiving these Satoshi's, to sign up to a off-chain wallet like Xapo. The internal off-chain transactions in Xapo are done with zero fees and instant transactions. You will only pay miners fees, when you send those coins on-chain. < withdraw it from Xapo >

Let's say you operate a Faucet, then you get the people to signup for a Xapo account and you send their Satoshi's within the Xapo system. If they want those coins, they will have to pay the miners fees to withdraw it from Xapo. ^smile^

Sending 1000 satoshi depends on the wallet you are using, and at most times  your transaction fee will be higher than the amount you are sending or you will be told the amount you are sending is too small.

no it is some difficult to sending directly that much of coins. you can do one thing. if where you want to pay that amount more 100 sat nothing but problem but it is less that amount you have to face problems. so half  amount  you have to transfer and remaining half amount transfer from your best partner account. it is secure and safer.no issues may raise.

To Send such a small amount you have either to use an altcoin as already mentioned (to not pay more tx fee than value of the tx).
Or you can use some kind of a Web Wallet which allows small Transaction within own Network without paying fees. This would require you and the reciever of your transaction
to be registered in such a Service. Blockchain.info offers a web wallet, but im not sure of how transaction inside of the blockchain.info network are handled.

I do not think there is a wallet that can sent 1000 satoshi most of the wallet the minimum transaction is 0.001 or 100k satoshi. Just to clarify 1000 satoshi or 1000 bitcoin?
If 1000 satoshi you cant find an option to send that just wait to make it 100k sat then you can start the transaction!
1000 bitcoin is a huge amount of money it wont carry by some wallet it would be suspicious transaction that may developer will trigger on that transaction to hold and verify it.

Actually there is no (as i know) wallet that will let you make transaction with so low amount, but i think that i can suggest two options:

1. You can look for microtransactions services, and you have to open account there - when they collect little amounts from many users they are sending this. (it is very short description)
Ps. from long time i dont use services like this, so i cant provide actual links

2. You have to look for friend that is mining Bitcoin (he must have mining rigs). You have to ask him to which pool he is connected and if he agree, he can push your transaction for free (he will explain to you how to do that)

No more options.

What's the easiest way to send small 1000 satoshi payment?

I had this problem once because at that time bitcoin was just about to touch 5000 USD for the first time and I was going to send a 22k satoshi for some services and since my local currency has a very low price compared to bitcoin I was stuck to that small amount. Electrum was asking me to pay a fee that was greater than the amount of money I was about to send. Hence what I did was i put a very low fee because I was ready to wait and the transaction did take one day to confirm.

Very interesting thread.

Fee is the very reason BTC can never become a daily usage coin. It is impossible to go in a buy a soda in a small shop, because you can simply not pay for it. You have to buy 50 sodas each time, just to be able to pay. Which of course begs the question, why is fee needed in the first place? To pay the nodes one will answer. Which again leads to, is btc (or any altcoin) then truly decentralized, if it is the 1000 some nodes that runs the show anyway.

Why can’t the 100 million users not run the chain without nodes? File sharing seems to work without fee, many credit card run without fee, bank transactions can run without fee, why can’t BTC?

Depends on the wallet.

Bitcoin core wallet: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/aa624b61c928295c27ffbb4d27be582f5aa31b56/src/policy/policy.cpp (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/aa624b61c928295c27ffbb4d27be582f5aa31b56/src/policy/policy.cpp)

Comments, lines 20-33:
Quote
"Dust" is defined in terms of dustRelayFee, which has units satoshis-per-kilobyte. If you'd pay more in fees than the value of the output to spend something, then we consider it dust. A typical spendable non-segwit txout is 34 bytes big, and will need a CTxIn of at least 148 bytes to spend: so dust is a spendable txout less than 182*dustRelayFee/1000 (in satoshis). 546 satoshis at the default rate of 3000 sat/kB. A typical spendable segwit txout is 31 bytes big, and will need a CTxIn of at least 67 bytes to spend: so dust is a spendable txout less than 98*dustRelayFee/1000 (in satoshis). 294 satoshis at the default rate of 3000 sat/kB.

In earlier versions I think this was 10x more, so its recently updated. Lightning might change it again.

Yes for sending around 1000 satoshi the fees will be of around $0.5. I think its a big demerit of bitcoin that we cannot send small payments to someone. Only a few private key wallets allow such small transfers you cant even think of transferring such small amounts on third party wallets.

Theoretically, this is possible by using micropayments service. However, the condition is that these small amounts have to be collected at the address registered in this service. They have minimum that have to be collected, when you reach the minimum limit, they send it with bunch of other little transactions.

Yes this is right since the payment is hardly it is combined with the other transactions and then sent out the payment. Actually now I have stopped sending any such transactions as the price of btc is rising the fee is actually getting much bigger than the actual send out at times. Also on LB you can transfer internally for free one of the options.

Yes you are correct wallets like electrum have the fetcher to set the fees as we wish but the only problem with this method is if you screw up the fees to very low you transaction may be stuck in blockchain for days even weeks...:(
yes bitcoin has a drawback right now.but when it started or if you go back 4 years earlyer.there you can send small frctons of coins without any problem.

Not probably but definitely. You would paid up higher fee more than on the amount you are sending.Even on wallets that you can able to set out dynamic fees.Putting up this option cant really be considered. This kind of transactions can be considered as micro but yet current fees on bitcoin transfers would really hurt you a lot.For now better to save up those satoshi of yours and send it later on when you do accumulate sufficient amount so that your fee would really be worth it at all.

I don`t know, until now I`ve never done transactions worth 1000 satoshi. If I have 1000 satoshi, I will hold and let it wait for the development that will happen. Because with value (1000 satoshi), it is possible the shipping transactions cann`t be processed, while in each transaction, our wallet will charge for the transaction.

It is not profitable. Fee will bigger than your payment.
You have to collect more.

What's the easiest way to send small 1000 satoshi payment?
In this case the easiest way is paying a fee that should not be less than 50000 satoshi.
The transaction looks like this: send: 0.00051000BTC where the fee is 0.00050000BTC.
(You did not ask which is the cheapest way)
One of the reasons why SpectreCoin exists.

Bitcoin is a payment system introduced as open-source software. The payments in the system are recorded in a public ledger using its own unit of account. Bitcoin as a form of payment for products and services, merchants have an incentive to accept the digital currency, concerning with other transaction the fees is too low.

i think you can not send 1000 satoshi . Because 1000 satoshi is very small , if you send 1000 satoshi , You will pay a premium of over 1000 satoshi .

I think, all the wallets can do that. And maybe you've never done a shipment?..., So you ask a more experienced person to answer it.
Try to visit some of the following wallets:
https://blockchain.info/id/wallet/
https://bittrex.com/

But, you don`t get stuck on the three wallets that I mentioned earlier, there are many other wallets that I haven`t mentioned, Hopefully you can find the right wallet need for your.
If you do tried out to read up on the concern he did say then hes asking on what wallet does really charge small fee since he do plan to transfer 1k sat which is really too small. If you do tried out to see the fees as of now it is almost 30-100k sat which isnt really worth it because your fee is more than on the amount you would like to transfer. As i did read on previous page we should wait for more longer until you do save up huge amounts of satoshis so that we can transfer and the fee would really be worth it on such transfer.

What's the easiest way to send small 1000 satoshi payment?
If you just need to send it once,  then perhaps a service like coinbase might help as there is no fee to send to another person with coinbase,  if you want to send it multiple times like a faucet use faucethub.  Hope this helps!

There are some third party web-hosted wallets where you can send 1k sats without fee if receiving address is also registered with same host. Sending externally is pointless as fee would be higher than amount transacted. This is a problem that needs to be tackled for bitcoin to gain a mainstream acceptance. 1000 sats is 7 cents, 100k satoshi is $7 and 1 million sats is $70 as of right now. These are not trivial amounts anymore.

i think its impossible send a bitcoin with that said fee not unless you use some  kind of transaction accelerator service like viabtc.com but again your still gonna pay in order for them to accelerate your transaction or you can just use altcoin like dogecoin and litecoin because they tend to have a lesser fee on transaction and also there were some  coins that offers a zero fees  like xrb.

Don't bother unless it's somehow important.  If it is then send it with Coinbase and make sure the recipient also has Coinbase so there's no fee.

you can send 1000 satoshi to any wallet but with the same transaction fee per byte . Meaning to say that your fee for this transaction will be much bigger than the amount you will be sending. If its not that important better to keep it instead.

I actually tried this once however 1000 satoshi is lower than the transaction fee. You should send an amount higher than the transaction fee. I'm not really sure if there is a wallet that offers a super low transaction fee.

You can send very small Satoshi, but you need to pay more for a transaction fee, moreover, some wallets will also charge your fee.
So micropayment becomes popular in the cryptocurrency community and there are some new coins that focus on this issue.

1000 satoshi is really very small payment now , and you can not do it because this pay even can not over then your Transaction costs

i suggest you can payment with other currency with the same value with 1000 satoshi.

1000 satoshi! this is very small.
It is impossible to make a transaction, for the balance of 1000 satoshi is not enough.
We all know the function of the wallet itself is almost the same as the bank account, any funds saved to the bank account can not be taken all (100%) must be there fund the remaining, as well as the online wallet that you use.

Its certainly impossible to send such payments on a third party wallet. You can send it only using private key wallets like electrum or bitcoin core. However just sending 1000 satoshi would take you a lot of fees might even be 10000 satoshi. This makes sending such payments practically infeasible.

You can set 1 satoshi per byte. 1 input 1 output is 192 bytes. Cost 192 satoshi. Each extra input: 147 bytes. A 1 satoshi per byte transaction may take weeks to clear but what's the rush.

I sent a 1 satoshi/byte transaction last month and it took about 10 days to clear but it went through.

Of course, it requires an empty mempool and a time may come when mempool will never get empty.

This is possible for only xapo wallet to xapo wallet as I have heard that there is no fees involved when sending BTC between the xapo wallets. Maybe Coinbase is also offering this type of service but I'm not sure though.
Yeah BTC must really think about scaling problem else someday one of the compitators will overtake it's position.

I think most of the wallet has no transaction fee if they send at the same bitcoin wallet, example for coinbase, coins.ph, xapo and others if you send money at the same wallet they do not imposed charge on it or fee but if you send 1000 satoshi in other wallet do not try it you will be shock on the transaction fee.

The transaction fees would always be higher than such small amounts as 1000 satoshies. So the easier way to do that is by sending the satoshies through poloniex exchange which charges 10000 satoshies as a transaction fees.I think that is the easy way out because transaction fees always higher but poloniex is really cool.

What's the easiest way to send small 1000 satoshi payment?

Its all about which wallet you opt and how much transaction fee they charge.
Generally they make 8000 per transaction.
The main point is that the 1000 satoshi you are trying to send is a very small amount.
Make a high amount to transfer your satoshi or withdraw your amount with a note there will be transaction fee which is high.
The other way is that you should be downloaded a bitcoin core original wallet software.
I recommend you, use some apps even for generating satoshi higher than you amount they will automatically send your satoshi amount to your BITCOIN wallet.
