Title: [ANN] B1TCASH - New Cryptocurrency
Post by: b1tes on August 15, 2017, 09:05:01 PM
Hi everyone,

The launch of the B1tcash project is purely academic. In cryptonote.org, I found a whole set of resources that I can learn from, like starting a coin, creating a GUI wallet, setting up a mining pool, testnet, processing payments, mining, interaction with the blockchain, blocks relaying, getting info about the block, peer list look up, connections look up, transaction pool information and relaying, wallet creation, financial operations, sending, receiving, checking for incoming transfers, etc. Additionally, I'm interested in storing data in the blockchain to write messages, timestamp documents, etc.

B1TCASH TIMELINE:

AUGUST 16,2017:
The B1tes blockchain was first launched.

SEPTEMBER 4, 2017:
On September 4th, 2017, the B1tes blockchain network was stopped on Blockchain Height 8943 due to a bug in cryptonote's source code described in an article titled "Disclosure of a Major Bug in CryptoNote Based Currencies" posted on getmonero.org, here is the link: https://getmonero.org/2017/05/17/disclosure-of-a-major-bug-in-cryptonote-based-currencies.html

According to the article, this bug “allows for the creation of an unlimited number of coins in a way that is undetectable to an observer unless they know about the fatal flaw and can search for it.”

SEPTEMBER 18, 2017:
On September 18th, 2017, a New B1tes blockchain was launched based on Aeon (https://github.com/aeonix/aeon - http://www.aeon.cash), a cryptonote coin that fixed this major bug.

9365 New B1tes blocks were premined in order to redeem users who mined Old B1tes (these users are able to exchange their balance in Old B1tes for New B1tes). Additionally, these users had exclusive access to the New B1tes source code and B1tes mining pools for a period of 3 months (which started on September 18th and ended on December 18th, 2017).

Users who mined Old B1tes can still exchange their balance in Old B1tes for New B1tes, fulfilling the following conditions:
- only transactions timestamped until September 4h, 2017, 12:12:54 a.m. UTC will be accepted.
- only transactions timestamped up to blockchain height 8975 will be accepted.
- send an email to b1tesoldwallet@tuta.io with your OLD B1tes *.wallet file as an attachment, inform your wallet password (if there is one), and Bitcoin Forum username.
- send me a private message on Bitcoin Forum confirming that you've emailed the wallet file, so I can verify it.
- As for your OLD B1tes wallet file sent to me, its entire balance will be transferred to another OLD B1tes wallet, that will then be deleted/destroyed.

JULY 26, 2018:
A new version of B1tes has been launched, based on Aeon's rebase to Monero code (Source code: https://github.com/b1tcash/b1t).

B1tes has been renamed to B1tcash.

A GUI wallet was released (source code: https://github.com/b1tcash/b1tcash-gui).

A Blockchain explorer was launched: http://b1t.cash.

In this current version, block times, block rewards, transaction fee, and blockchain database format have changed.

   Launch date: September 18th, 2017
   Premine: 9365 blocks
   POW/POS: Proof-of-Work (POW)
Block times: changed from 240 to 540 seconds
   Currency ticker: B1T
Block rewards: changed from ~15 B1T to ~100 BIT
   Algorithm: CryptoNight-Lite - hash-based Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm
   Max supply: ~18.4 million B1T
   Difficulty: retargets at every block
Transaction fee: changed from 0.000001 to 0.01
   Seed nodes: 138.68.115.86; 159.65.213.51
   P2P port = 50805;
   RPC port = 50904;

The blockchain database format has been changed from raw memory to LMDB.

Link to B1tcash's Blockchain explorer: http://b1t.cash

Additionally, below are specifications of changes that have been adopted from Monero in this current version. These specifications can also be accessed at: https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/releases/tag/v0.12.0.0

The following changes have been adopted:

      Per-kb fees: PR-184
Allow miners to claim less money than allowed: PR-410
Claim a quantized reward in coinbase & all outputs must be decomposed: PR-425
Require miner tx to have well behaved outs: PR-763
      Reject invalid pubkeys: PR-1386
Use new block filling algorithm: PR-1902
      Forbid duplicate ring members: PR-2188
Checks for top block hard fork version: PR-2269
Reject unsorted ins and outs: PR-2440
      CryptoNight variant 1: PR-3253
This is adapted to CryptoNight-Lite, making it CryptoNight-Lite-variant1

The following are Aeon's own changes deviating from Monero:

Transactions of ring size 1 (i.e. with no decoy outputs, called non-private txes henceforth) are allowed to occupy up to ~10% of all transactions in each block. Specifically, for a block containing N txes (excluding coinbase), M non-private txes are allowed to exist as long as 10*(M-1) does not exceed N.
The implication of non-private txes is the same as before: you can use them wisely to make transactions smaller and thus save in fees, but if you do so when there's a backlog of non-private txes in the transaction pool, your non-private txes will likely take very long time to confirm. You're advised to use normal transactions if you want timely confirmation.
Normal transactions must have at least ring size 3. In other words, transactions with ring size 2 are entirely forbidden.
Multisig is disabled (but will be enabled again once Aeon adopts RingCT with Bulletproofs).

Cryptonotes's config file is by default very similar to Monero's config file.

I wonder about the privacy features being similar to Monero, not just sharing the same PoW algo...

In regards to privacy B1tes is similar to Monero as both are Cryptonote based cryptocurrencies, which features untraceable payments and unlinkable transactions.

Good to hear. I would like to join to the request to see the team behind this project. Many people here have been damaged by the SIGT experience and anonymity would not be the best option.
Are there any unique features to this project compared to other cryptonote coins?

I'm working on getting the GUI wallet ready. But once it's ready, it will first be available to install only from source code. I'll look into making it available as precompiled binaries for OSX, Linux, and Windows.

It looks like the coin is still very young, and the developers are experimenting, and maybe more planning later on, but the CryptoNight algorithm is not very popular, ASIC algorithms are more popular and good luck.

Make a pool for mining, wallets, and then launch your coin.

For linux users, instructions on how to:

1. Install B1tes blockchain
2. Create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes

1. Install B1tes blockchain:
- open your command line terminal
- Execute the following commands to get the dependencies needed in order to setup the environment to run the B1tes blockchain:
          - sudo apt-get install build-essential
          - sudo apt-get install git
          - sudo apt-get install cmake
          - sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
- Clone B1tes source code:
          - create a directory called b1tes by running the command:
                    - mkdir b1tes
          - enter the b1tes directory by running the command:
                    - cd b1tes
     - clone B1tes source code by running the command:
                    - git clone https://github.com/b1tes/b1t.git
          - enter the b1t directory by running the command:
                    - cd b1t
          - build b1tes source code by running the command:
                    - make
          - wait until building b1tes source code is 100% complete
          - enter the build directory by running the command:
                    - cd build/release/src/
          - download B1tes blockchain by running the command:
                    - ./b1tesd
          - leave this terminal command line open, as B1tes blockchain is being downloaded and synchronized to the network.
          - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes walled and mine B1tes. (You’ll only be able to create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes if the B1tes blockchain is being downloaded and synchronized to the network on another terminal command line.)

2. Create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes:
          - complete instructions 1 in order to create a B1tes wallet
          - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes walled and mine B1tes
          - enter B1tes build directory by running the command:
                    - cd ~your_directory~/b1tes/b1t/build/release/src
          - create a B1tes wallet by running the command:
                    - ./simplewallet
          - follow the instructions in order to Generate a new wallet by giving a wallet file name and password
          - finally, inside simplewallet’s command line program, start mining B1tes by running the following command:
                    - start_mining

I am currently working on setting up a pool. Everything is set up I am just doing some testing to make sure payments work(have to wait 60 blocks for the first payment to initiate, about 30 more to go, about an hour). Also working on building a windows GUI wallet. I tried setting up an explorer but there are no copy pasta packages available so I will need to set some time asside to see what is available and then start modifying it to work.

Update:
The pool is on hold again. I managed to get my wallet file curropted. And didnt have a backup! So i went ahead and made a new wallet, made a backup and verified it works. I am sure that everything will work now, the only issue is that now I have to wait another 2+ hours before I can go ahead and launch this pool publicly. I want to make sure the payouts work. For reals this time.

Just so you know this is still new to me so untill further notice this is running in USE AT YOUR OWN RISK MODE. I will do my best effort to make sure that the pool stays up and running and income isnt lost but I can't promise that. Also seems typical of all other pools as well, im just making it very clear from the get go. GL and enjoy.

Got the wallet working, and got the miner up too.

Pool looks like it's working. Mining with my mighty single Nvidia 1050!

Although this all may just be for some fun and as a learning opportunity, it's at least nice to at least have transparancy from the Dev :)

Now it's time to mine some B1tes, and become a millionaire...(or not...)

Little update on the pool. Payments are gonna be rough untill the network adjust difficulty. It seems that we are mining a block every 2-5 seconds vs the 1 block every 120 seconds idea. I have payments set to execute every 10 minutes. Which does one transaction at a time per account with a max of 300 B1tes to avoid size too large issue. Under normal cercumstances the 10 minutes isnt an issue since you know. only 5 blocks should be mined being around 87.5 B1tes in total. but currently its more like 300 blocks per 10 minutes which runs us to about 5250 B1tes in 10 minutes. So if you see that you have a lot pending it will all get sorted out the higher the difficulty gets.

Very little information and lack of detail, can not understand about this project,
hopefully quickly updated this trhead and I will continue to monitor.

All seemed to be going ok for a little while, however I've got an error on the Wallet now stating that the last block was received 1+ hours ago.

CCMiner seems to be working fine, however the pool isn't reporting anything being found. My hash rate is showing in the pool though.

Mined about 400 coins before it stopped. Will try a restart on my end.

In reply to other members wanting more details about the coin, my interpretation from the Dev is that he's just using this as a learning experience. If something comes of him creating the coin, then thats great, but don't bet on anything too much at this stage.

Here dev is off, no questions are answered, if the project is real you have to respond us here, otherwise the project is not real you have to really work hard to build a real project, for example: small thing respond All the questions here :-\

I've checked one of the two seed nodes. That seed node is OK (it's synchronized with the network). But when I run simpewallet and execute start_mining command, it signals that mining has started, but it doesn't mine at all.

I saw that there were 6 miners in the mining pool and once the pool mined some blocks, mining in general got stuck, not only the mining pool, but also when running start_mining with simplewallet.

Found the issue. daemon is showing the following
12:53:28.605077 INFO Block <5986726d60419385b3133d66333a5d3a0d9664d0ce9276814945a7831675457e> has at least one transaction with wrong inputs: <ad146c0f174534683ff210b1a0ea826ade3b9b0791a4af78f3b380aaa70692f3>

UPDATE: I decided to restart the server and start everything up again. will be back up in moment.

I will see how I can implement some kind of auto restart so that I don't manually have to go in to fix things if this happens again.

ok. So I was able to make the pool start working again. blcoked are being mined again and payments are starting to come out. ill keep an eye on things but I think it should work now.
Another issue is the constant payment errors. They wallet has a few unconfirmed transactions. I suspect that for some reason or another it is causing payments to fail. I will attempt to create a new wallet and then transfer all the coins of the old one in to handle payments. To do this i will stop payment(not like any are actually going through) implement a new wallet then  transfer coins over. I hope this helps.

NONONO. i have gone ahead and just changed to pool to keep track of things from a new perspective . I will let the block chain mature then manually pay out any pending from the pools old stats. All stats have been reset. but all old data is still saved. I will handle those payments manually when they fully unlock.

Ok. So every payment causes issues. The network is too fast and its causing issues is best I can guess. I have disabled payments for now. I will reneable when the time between blocks is longer than a few seconds.

Hello,
Not yet there have not been. I have payments disabled till the time between blocks is more reasonable. then I will enable payments and you should receive them. I just want to avoid the issue which happened that curropted the local blockchain. I have been testing out things to see if its possible to avoid the issue all together.

well friendos. Everything was working. But then the massive influx of hashrate and them something happened to the pool. It mines just fine. Just that the payments dont work. I will investigate a fix. Untill then the pool software is keeping track of earnings. I will update you when I find a fix.

the pool keeps forking to the point that clients dont accept the chain. I have reset again. tomorrow will look into changing software. so expect some downtime.

there isnt any other pool right now. Im working on getting it fixed. When i enable payments it just curropts the blockchain. Im looking into using another pool software which apparently is more stable. Stats are being saved. so payouts will be made.

Not at the moment. Hopefully somone else opens one up. I am in the process of switching pool software which is suppose to be more stable. The issue is the payments of the old software. it wasnt working and it was corrupting the blockchain locally. All should be good now but I have to wait and see when payments start up.

There was no premine so an ICO from the dev wouldnt be possible. As for bounties thats up to the community. Holders of the coin would have to offer some bounties.

Starts are saved. I will have to manually process payments for the time being. I am tracking down the issue and it may have something to do with the fact that the seed nodes are not caught up to the block chain on the pool. Also, most of the clients are synced with the pool. just the seed nodes are at like block 2019. If this works then all should be good. I hope

And now there is an invalid transaction in the tx pool. Which is stopping blocks from being mined. Investigating a solution. But i am 100% sure at this point we have to look at the project code and change it there because the pool isnt generating bad transactions. it isnt generating any at all.

after some head banging i was able to get the mining working again. Also it seems that the seed nodes are finally synced with the rest of the network. So payments are rough right now but it seems to be working. I will leave it alone a few hours to see what happens.

ok. one last reset. If this doesnt work then im taking the pool down. Hope it works since I set everything up to a way I think would work. But the seed node is still infact stuck at block 2020.

Title: Re: [ANN] B1tes - New Cryptocurrency
Post by: BitPorium on August 21, 2017, 09:38:07 PM
ok. It seems to be working. payments are going out and not causing lock ups or errors. The issue was the seed node which is at block 2020 or 2019 causing transactions to be invalid. I had to put that seed node on an ignore list. If that node can be restarted and allowed to sync up with the rest of the network that would be great!

solo mining is not too good now. It can only work with with the daemon i think which only uses the cpu. If you want to use other hardware you will need to setup a pool and mine to it.,

His announcement literally says "The launch of the B1tes project is purely academic."

I'm not sure how much clearer the Dev could make his intention.

He (or she) wanted to gain experience making a coin. That's it.

Not every coin needs to be about some crazy scheme like milking cows using a crypto chain (hmm.. now that I think of it, maybe I should make an ICO for Cow Coin.. THE FUTURE OF FARMING!!!)

It's ok just to have some fun and help someone learn sometimes :)

Hi BitPorium,

How is the work in setting up the explorer going? When are you going to launch it?

Hi BitPorium,

How is the work in setting up the explorer going? When are you going to launch it?
Have not been able to set some time aside yet. Be no eta at the moment. Will keep you updated on any progress

I would like to help you setting up the explorer. What do you think if we work on it this weekend?

So I have been working on this all day. Im still new to this but I got it working. Payments are working and it seems stable. Then again im only testing on my own.

Hi BitPorium,

I'm trying to setup a pool. I'd like to know if you are using hosts other than "127.0.0.1" for daemon, wallet and redis in the config.json file, please see below:

Jsut set the ports to the correct ports. Like daemon port should be 40004 i think or 50005 and the walelt used is simplewallet not walletd. use --rpc-bind-port 8082

Hi everyone,

There is a new B1tes Mining Pool that you can use at your own risk. It's still in beta, so loss of funds is possible. And there are no warranties for loss of B1tes!

Here is the B1tes Mining Pool address: b1tes.net

Block Reward: 17.5 B1T

No exchange and no bounty for translation. The reason is that from my part I don't have a lot of B1tes yet to give as bounty for translation and for exchanges to list B1tes.

I've had a hard time setting up a mining pool. And now that it's setup, I found out that my hardware is slow for mining.

You're welcome to try the mining pool!

Hey, looking good. It works on my end now and I see you found some blocks. Hey I suggest you update/change the market section so people can't say that they thought they were mining monero. Also, maybe since that will be the official site of the coin maybe make a regular site explaining the coin and stuff then make it something like pool.b1tes.net for the pool. Just so people can be informed about the coin on the official site as well as get resources and such.

I think it may have something to do with not having the block maturity set to 60.

Hi,

A new cryptocurrency called B1tes was launched on August 16th, 2017.

It's a cryptonote based currency.

The launch of the B1tes project is purely academic.

I'm the only dev in this project.

Premine? No premine - first block mined on Aug. 18th, 2017
POW/POS? Proof-of-Work (POW)
Block times? 120 seconds
Currency ticker: B1T
Block rewards? 17 B1T
Algorithm?  CryptoNight - hash-based Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm

Network seed nodes: 54.232.255.65:50005; 52.15.118.78:50005

Port used by the daemon to establish connections with p2p network: 50005

Port used by the daemon to interact with simplewallet (RPC)  = 40004

B1tes source code is available at: https://github.com/b1tes/b1t

GUI wallet for windows. Only works on 64 bit versions (thanks to Bitcoin Forum member BitPorium):

For linux users, instructions on how to:

1. Install B1tes blockchain
2. Create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes

1. Install B1tes blockchain:
- open your command line terminal
- Execute the following commands to get the dependencies needed in order to setup the environment to run the B1tes blockchain:
          - sudo apt-get install build-essential
          - sudo apt-get install git
          - sudo apt-get install cmake
          - sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
- Clone B1tes source code:
          - create a directory called b1tes by running the command:
                    - mkdir b1tes
          - enter the b1tes directory by running the command:
                    - cd b1tes
     - clone B1tes source code by running the command:
                    - git clone https://github.com/b1tes/b1t.git
          - enter the b1t directory by running the command:
                    - cd b1t
          - build b1tes source code by running the command:
                    - make
          - wait until building b1tes source code is 100% complete
          - enter the build directory by running the command:
                    - cd build/release/src/
          - download B1tes blockchain by running the command:
                    - ./b1tesd
          - leave this terminal command line open, as B1tes blockchain is being downloaded and synchronized to the network.
          - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes walled and mine B1tes. (You’ll only be able to create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes if the B1tes blockchain is being downloaded and synchronized to the network on another terminal command line.)

2. Create a B1tes wallet and mine B1tes:
          - complete instructions 1 in order to create a B1tes wallet
          - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes walled and mine B1tes
          - enter B1tes build directory by running the command:
                    - cd ~your_directory~/b1tes/b1t/build/release/src
          - create a B1tes wallet by running the command:
                    - ./simplewallet
          - follow the instructions in order to Generate a new wallet by giving a wallet file name and password
          - finally, inside simplewallet’s command line program, start mining B1tes by running the following command:
                    - start_mining

Hi everyone,

I've stopped running the B1tes blockchain on Blockchain Height 8943. And I will launch a new B1tes blockchain with no premine based on Monero, Forknote, Aeon or Boolberry source code on September 18th, 2017.

There is an article titled "Disclosure of a Major Bug in CryptoNote Based Currencies" posted on getmonero.org, here is the link: https://getmonero.org/2017/05/17/disclosure-of-a-major-bug-in-cryptonote-based-currencies.html

According to the article, this bug “allows for the creation of an unlimited number of coins in a way that is undetectable to an observer unless they know about the fatal flaw and can search for it.”

Monero, Forknote, Aeon and Boolberry have fixed this bug. For this reason I will launch a new B1tes blockchain with no premine based on one these blockchains on September 18th, 2017.

I would like to thank you all for your enthusiasm with the B1tes project.

Hi hitscan,

On linux ubuntu, it's saved in the directory /home/~yourusername~/.b1tes. Your coins are saved in a file name called b1teswallet.wallet in the /home/~yourusername~/.b1tes directory.

On September 18th, 2017, I will launch a new B1tes blockchain (please read the quote below for more info), so you are not going to be able to use these coins anymore.

Hi everyone,

I would like to know from users who have mined B1tes coins if you prefer that a new B1tes blockchain be launched:

- on September 18th, 2017 with no pre-mine
- or in two/three months with pre-mine in order to exchange your OLD B1tes coins with NEW B1tes coins.

In case you decide that OLD B1tes coins be exchanged with NEW B1tes coins, the conditions for the exchange will be as follows:

- only transactions timestamped until September 4h, 2017, 12:12:54 a.m. UTC will be exchanged
- only transactions timestamped up to blockchain height 8975 will be exchanged
- you will have to send me an email informing your NEW B1tes wallet address along with your OLD B1tes *.wallet file as an attachment.
- I will then send you NEW B1tes coins if the conditions above are met.
- As for your OLD B1tes wallet file sent to me, its entire balance will be sent to another OLD B1tes wallet, that will then be deleted/destroyed.

If you are doing premine and doing this exchange program then you need to setup a deadline for submitting files.

While it looks as if I missed the first swing, I hope to try and get involved with either the new chain upon the changeover or after the pre-mine conversion. I really like the back to basics approach and organic growth of the project and intent from the dev.

Hi everyone,

Most of you have expressed that you prefer a new B1tes blockchain launch on September 18th, 2017 with no pre-mine.

I also prefer the launch on September 18th. I've also sent a private message to BitPorium, who runs the B1tes Mining Pool at b1tes.bpgmr.com. He's also responded that he prefers a launch on September 18th.

So the launch is set for September 18th with no pre-mine!

*** But if at least one user who has mined OLD B1tes coins prefers to exchange OLD B1tes coins with NEW B1tes coins, then I will go for launching the NEW B1tes blockchain in two months with pre-mine.

I'm looking forward to the September 18th launch!

Thank you all for the support!

Yeah, could you please post a compiled wallet as soon as this project restarts?
Also it would be great to get some guide about mining B1Ts. My videocard isn't great for mining (AMD Radeon R7 250, 1GB VRAM), but anyway I use it to mine ZCash with Claymore tool.
I'd appreciate to get such a valuable info!
Thanks in advance.

I think rereelase will use same PoW algo so just get information for coins like monero. It uses the same miners. I personally use xmr-stak-nvidia and xmr-stak-cpu but i think there is also a release for amd cards.

Otherwise, if no user prefers the above mentioned, the new B1tes blockchain launch is set for September 18th, 2017 with no pre-mine.

Hi,

Send the wallet file to b1tesoldwallet@tuta.io.

PM me confirming that you've sent the wallet file, so I can verify it.

Do not worry about the new B1tes wallet address because the new B1tes blockchain is not available yet, but once it's available on the network, you can email the new B1tes wallet address in order to receive your balance with the New B1tes coins.

Hi, please email the wallet file by September 17th, 2017.

If you email the wallet file by September 17th, 2017, I won't launch the New B1tes on September 18th, 2017.

And I'll then inform everyone, that a user has requested that OLD B1tes coins be exchanged with NEW B1tes coins and that the NEW B1tes blockchain will be launched in two months with pre-mine.

Hi everyone,

The New B1tes blockchain launch is set for September 18th, 2017 with no pre-mine. But only users who mined Old B1tes will have access to the New B1tes source code and B1tes mining pools, for a period of 3 months (which starts on September 18th and ends on December 18th, 2017). After this 3 months period, the New B1tes blockchain will be available to all users.

Here are the conditions to have access to the New B1tes source code and B1tes mining pools:

- only transactions timestamped until September 4h, 2017, 12:12:54 a.m. UTC will be accepted
- only transactions timestamped up to blockchain height 8975 will be accepted
- send an email to b1tesoldwallet@tuta.io with your OLD B1tes *.wallet file as an attachment, inform your wallet password (if there is one), and Bitcoin Forum username.
- send me a private message on Bitcoin Forum confirming that you've emailed the wallet file, so I can verify it.
- If the conditions above are met, I will then send you a private message on Bitcoin Forum with details on how to access the New B1tes source code and B1tes mining pools.
- As for your OLD B1tes wallet file sent to me, its entire balance will be transferred to another OLD B1tes wallet, that will then be deleted/destroyed.

Hi everyone,

I've made a last minute decision. I will exchange your Old B1tes for New B1tes since I was able to premine, as of now, 9365 blocks. On the Old B1tes blockchain a total of 8975 blocks were mined.

At 12 p.m. UTC on September 18th, 2017, I will send a private message to all users who submitted their Old B1tes wallets informing how to access the New B1tes source code and mining pools.

Users who mined Old B1tes will have access to the New B1tes source code and B1tes mining pools, for a period of 3 months (which starts on September 18th and ends on December 18th, 2017). After this 3 months period, the New B1tes blockchain will be available to all users.

If you've already submitted your Old B1tes wallet, please, send me a private message informing your New B1tes wallet, so that I can transfer New B1tes to your wallet.

Here are the conditions to have access to the New B1tes source code, B1tes mining pools, and exchange your Old B1tes for New B1tes:

Hi everyone,

I still don't have good news regarding building B1tes on Windows.

One user also tried to build it with no success.

Hi. Yes! You are on the right chain!

Were you able to build the New B1tes source code on Windows?

No sorry, no VB, and no time today. but i found my VM box and ubuntu version, so i am good to have my old coins please.
I will try windows version poss tomorrow.
J

Hi,

Please, try to build the New B1tes source code on Windows tomorrow. And let me know if you were able to do it.

I tried to build the Windows binary from B1tes source code, but was unable to do it.

I followed instructions of a file called README that is located in the root of the B1tes source code.

Instructions on how to install the dependencies mentioned on README file are avaiable in a document on this link: https://github.com/forknote/cryptonote-generator/blob/master/docs/windows-requirements-install.md

I followed the documents' instructions, and I was successful in executing cmake: cmake -G "Visual Studio 12 Win64" -DBOOST_ROOT="c:\folder\to\boost_1_57_0"
           -DBOOST_LIBRARYDIR="c:\folder\to\boost_1_57_0\lib64-msvc-12.0"

I wasn't successful when executing msbuild. By running this command "msbuild Project.sln /p:Configuration=Release", this error shows up:

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Community\Common7\IDE\VC\VCTargets\Microsoft.Cpp.Platform.targets
(57,5): error MSB8020: The build tools for v120 (Platform Toolset = 'v120') cannot be found. To build using the v120 bu
ild tools, please install v120 build tools.  Alternatively, you may upgrade to the current Visual Studio tools by selec
ting the Project menu or right-click the solution, and then selecting "Retarget solution". [C:\Users\LENOVO\Documents\V
isual Studio 2017\b1tes\b1t\ZERO_CHECK.vcxproj]

That is where I couldn't go any further on building B1tes on Windows.

I hope you will be able to help.

Hi,

Similar issue...you need to find the exact version of VS Studio (12 x64). I cannot find it online anywhere, but without exact version you will not be able to compile.
I don't believe you can get it from MS anymore, so you will have to ask around.
I will let you know if i come across it, but most unlikely.
Or, you could try say version 13, and copy/replace all refs in code....very trickly and likely to fail.

prob best option is to ask on bitcointalk forum if anyone would give you a copy of VS12

Hi everyone,

If the b1tesd.exe and simplewallet.exe executables that were uploaded on Github will not work on your Windows PC, you will have to build B1tes source code on your Windows PC following the instructions below.

One user pointed out that when executing b1tesd.exe the error below shows up:

take care to uncheck box "visual studio 2015 update 3" else update 3 will be downloaded automatically.
Important note: after installation you should be asked to reboot the OS. Do NOT forget this step, asked or not !
In addition to this, after rebooting you'll need to start Visual Studio Community 2015 GUI, as other components will be set up.

- Download and install CMake version 3.8, win 32 installer. If you have a previous version uninstall it first.

- Download and install Python x86-64 executable installer, which is needed by CMake. If you have version 3.4 or lower uninstall it first.
  https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.6.1/python-3.6.1-amd64.exe (https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.6.1/python-3.6.1-amd64.exe)
Pay attention when installation asks if you want to add to system path and do so.

- Download ad install the pre-compiled Boost libraries v 1_63_00 for MSVC-14.0 64bit version (take note of their install path):
  https://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost-binaries/1.63.0/boost_1_63_0-msvc-14.0-64.exe/download (https://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost-binaries/1.63.0/boost_1_63_0-msvc-14.0-64.exe/download)
Note: to build a distributable B1tes package you'll need to build Boost libraries from source, which it is indeed included in the download.
Yet please bear in mind that the aim of my guide is to enable common B1tes users in Windows environment to be readily up to date with the latest B1tes release.

The following directory should be added to compiler include paths (following my own installation path):

    D:\local\boost_1_63_0

The following directory should be added to linker library paths:

    D:\local\boost_1_63_0\lib64-msvc-14.0

This will be done by means of cmake arguments, below.

- Now let's start the B1tes compiling procedure (16GB RAM is the minimum I would recommend in order to proceed successfully):

Open “MSBuild Command Prompt for VS2015” or “Git Shell” or “Git bash” depending what you downloaded previously and do:
Code:

   mkdir b1tes

   cd b1tes

   download B1tes source code

   cd <B1tes root> press enter

   mkdir build   press enter

   cd build   press enter

   cmake -G "Visual Studio 14 2015 Win64" -DBOOST_ROOT=D:\local\boost_1_63_0 -DBOOST_LIBRARYDIR=D:\local\boost_1_63_0\lib64-msvc-14.0 ..    press enter
   (the two dots are needed)

If the cmake gives errors issue this command instead:
   cmake -G "Visual Studio 14 2015 Win64" -DBOOST_ROOT=D:/local/boost_1_63_0 -DBOOST_LIBRARYDIR=D:/local/boost_1_63_0/lib64-msvc-14.0 ..    press enter
   (the two dots are needed)

   MSBuild Project.sln /p:Configuration=release /m   press enter

After some time you'll find your .exe files in the path_to_your_b1tes_repository\Build\Src\Release directory.

Alternative building procedure, using VS Community 2015 GUI:

It is assumed that the cmake step has been done successfully.

Close GIT Shell if still open.

    Open VS Community 2015 GUI

    File->Open-> Solution->path to b1tes local repository/Project.sln

VS 2015 will then make a check of all includes. This will take some time, until in the lower-left corner you'll see "Ready". Patience!

Be sure that up above Release and x64 are selected

    Build-> Build Solution

You'll see a message when the building process is ended.
You'll find your .exe files in the path_to_your_b1tes_repository\Build\Src\Release directory.

In any case, after the exe files have been bult and copied in the position of your likings, always remember to clean the content inside the .../build directory to leave it ready for the very next build.
This will obviously require Git Shell or MSVC 2015 GUI to be closed.

After 3 month you make a copy/paste of the original Ann with the same pool, same blockchain (with a looot of ninja/new solo mining blocks), same windows binaries, same algo... no criptonight-lite as you promise...

Are you kidding us?

I wouldn't be too stressed about the blocks already mined. You can literally mine thousands of coins right now with a Potato PC.

My crappy 1050 (non TI) with 250H/s can get about 8000 b1tes a day.

The other 2 guys on the pool must have worse hardware than me, as they are only pulling 100H between them.

If you have a GPU better than a 1050,  you can basically be big dog on the mining pool :)

I appreciate the coin may never come to anything, however if you have an even half decent PC it is still not too late to get tens of thousands of these as a speculative gamble.

Worst case scenario, you delete the wallet in a while if the coin dies a death

Best case, the coin reaches an exchange at a sat or two and you make $100 or so since you can compile a big bag right now really quickly.

Serious mining operations going on here!

Would your CPU actually give you more than 27 H/s?

Hi everyone,

I posted a cryptonote mining pool source code on GitHub at: https://github.com/b1tes/mining-pool.

You can build the source code to provide a mining pool service, or you can use the mining pool privately.

With this mining pool source code, you can mine cryptonote based coins, including B1tes.

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask you to volunteer in testing and analysing the code of a functionality that timestamps data in the Blockchain which has been added to the B1tes TESTNET source code.

The B1tes project is based on the source code of a cryptonote cryptocurrency called Aeon, which features untraceable payments and unlinkable transactions. For more info about the project, go to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2092537.msg20905435#msg20905435

To test the functionality that timestamps data in the Blockchain you have to install the B1tes TESTNET blockchain on linux following the instructions below.

Instructions on how to:

     1. Install B1tes TESTNET blockchain
     2. Create a B1tes TESTNET wallet and mine B1tes TESTNET
     3. Notarize data in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain
3.1. Notarize document file in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain
3.2. Notarize text in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain
     4. Verify timestamp of notarized data in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain

     1. Install B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
          - open your command line terminal
          - Execute the following commands to get the dependencies needed in order to setup the environment to run the B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
               - sudo apt-get install build-essential
               - sudo apt-get install git
               - sudo apt-get install cmake
               - sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev
          - Clone B1tes TESTNET source code:
               - create a directory called testnet-b1tes by running the command:
                    - mkdir testnet-b1tes
               - enter the testnet-b1tes directory by running the command:
                    - cd testnet-b1tes
               - clone B1tes TESTNET source code by running the command:
                        - git clone https://github.com/b1tes/testnet-b1t
               - enter the testnet-b1t directory by running the command:
                    - cd testnet-b1t
               - build b1tes source code by running the command:
                    - make
               - wait until building b1tes TESTNET source code is 100% complete
               - enter the build directory by running the command:
                    - cd build/release/src/
               - download B1tes blockchain by running the command:
                    - ./testnet-b1tesd
               - leave this terminal command line open (it may take a couple of hours until the B1tes TESTNET blockchain is downloaded and synchronized to the network).
               - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes TESTNET wallet and mine B1tes TESTNET. (You’ll only be able to synchronize a B1tes TESTNET wallet to the network and mine B1tes TESTNET if the B1tes TESTNET blockchain is downloaded and synchronized to the network on another terminal command line running the command testnet-b1tesd concurrently.)

     2. Create a B1tes TESTNET wallet and mine B1tes TESTNET:
          - complete instructions 1 in order to create a B1tes TESTNET wallet
          - and open a new terminal command line in order to create a B1tes TESTNET walled and mine B1tes TESTNET
          - enter B1tes TESTNET build directory by running the command:
                    - cd ~your_directory~/testnet-b1tes/testnet-b1t/build/release/src
          - create a B1tes TESTNET wallet by running the command:
                    - ./simplewallet
          - follow the instructions in order to Generate a new wallet by giving a wallet file name and password
          - finally, inside simplewallet’s command line program, start mining B1tes TESTNET by running the following command:
                    - start_mining

     3. Notarize data in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
3.1. Notarize document file in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
               - open a new terminal command line and install OpenSSL by running the command:
                    - sudo apt-get install openssl
               - generate a SHA-256 signature through openssl by running the command:
                    - openssl sha -sha256  filename
                    - for example: openssl sha -sha256 /home/user/Documents/contract.pdf
               - keep a copy of the resulting SHA-256 signature, which should be pasted along with the next command
               - in simplewallet’s command line program, transfer funds to a wallet by running the command:
                    - transfer 1 <wallet_address> <amount> <copy_of_the_resulting_SHA-256_signature>
3.2. Notarize text in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
               - access http://www.xorbin.com/tools/sha256-hash-calculator
               - type the text to be notarized in the data field
               - click on "Calculate SHA256 hash"
               - keep a copy of the resulting SHA-256 signature, which should be pasted along with the next command
               - in simplewallet’s command line program, transfer funds to a wallet by running the command:
                    - transfer 1 <wallet_address> <amount> <copy_of_the_resulting_SHA-256_signature>

     4. Verify timestamp of notarized data in the B1tes TESTNET blockchain:
          - in simplewallet’s command line program, refresh the wallet by running the command:
               - refresh
          - and verify the timestamp of notarized data by running the command:
               - notarizations <copy_of_the_resulting_SHA-256_signature>
               - please notice that, if you verify the timestamp from the wallet that executed the transfer of funds (through the notarizations command in simplewallet), the amount transferred will be shown as 0. But if you verify the timestamp from the wallet that received funds, the the exact amount transferred will be shown, as the code that informs the amount transferred is provided only to the wallet that receives transfer of funds.

The only thing that I don't know if it is right is that I've sand from my wallet to my wallets with some amount in it (13/17 b1tes) and when I do the timestamp verification it shows no amount. It's how it as to be?

help gives me:

transfer             transfer <mixin_count> <addr_1> <amount_1> [<addr_2> <amount_2> ... <addr_N> <amount_N>] [payment_id] - Transfer <amount_1>,... <amount_N> to <address_1>,... <address_N>, respectively. <mixin_count> is the number of transactions yours is indistinguishable from (from 0 to maximum available)

I have no idea what these parameters mean.

Hi Galapagos, thanks for your help in testing it!

If you verify the timestamp from the wallet that executed the transfer of funds (through the notarizations command in simplewallet), the amount transferred will be shown as 0. But if you verify the timestamp from the wallet that received the transfer of funds, the amount transferred will be shown as 13/17 b1tes.

The code that informs the amount transferred is provided only to the wallet that receives transfer of funds.

Hi everyone,

By the end of this month, I'm planning to create a command called "notarize" on simplewallet, which will be first released on b1tes TESTNET source code.

The "notarize" command will be used to exclusively to timestamp hashed-data to transactions.

Once it's successfully tested on b1tes TESTNET, it will be released on b1tes CORE source code.

long time no see ;) that's a nice news!
Is the old wallet.dat (b1tes) still valid or we can throw everything away?

Hi Galapagos,

You can throw away the wallet used before September 4h, 2017, when the B1tes blockchain network was stopped on Blockchain Height 8943 due to a bug in cryptonote's source code described in an article titled "Disclosure of a Major Bug in CryptoNote Based Currencies" posted on getmonero.org, here is the link: https://getmonero.org/2017/05/17/disclosure-of-a-major-bug-in-cryptonote-based-currencies.html

But keep the wallet created after September 18th, 2017, when the New B1tes blockchain was launched, which can be used with this current version.

In this current version, block times, block rewards, transaction fee, and blockchain database format have changed.

Launch date: September 18th, 2017
Premine: 9365 blocks
POW/POS: Proof-of-Work (POW)
Block times: changed from 240 to 540 seconds
Currency ticker: B1T
Block rewards: changed from ~15 B1T to ~100 BIT
Algorithm: CryptoNight-Lite - hash-based Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm
Max supply: ~18.4 million B1T
Difficulty: retargets at every block
Transaction fee: changed from 0.000001 to 0.01
Seed nodes: 138.68.115.86; 159.65.213.51
P2P port = 50805;
RPC port = 50904;

The blockchain database format has been changed from raw memory to LMDB.

Only CPU?
cn-litev7?

It’s CryptoNight-Lite-variant1.  Now only cpu, since there is no mining pool setup to mine B1tcash, which is great. Yesterday I noticed that some users were cpu mining.

It’s a good time to mine B1tcash with your cpu. It consumes less electricity, not as loud as gpu mining.

Hi,

I'm offering a 5,000 B1tcash bounty to anyone who builds B1tcash GUI binary for 64-bit Windows.

Instructions:

- Access the B1tcash GUI source code: https://github.com/b1tcash/b1tcash-gui
- Read the instructions on how to compile the B1tcash GUI from source for Windows
- After successfully building the B1tcash GUI binary, upload the executable on your Github account
- I'll test the executable. And if it works, I'll make a copy of it and I'll upload it to B1tcash's Github account, so users can use it.
- Send me a private message with your B1tcash wallet address and I'll transfer 5,000 B1tcash to your wallet

Hi everyone,

The current network difficulty of 36140 is so low that any cpu is now able to mine B1tcash.

Check the B1tcash Blockchain Explorer at b1t.cash to get current info about the network.

Hi Galapagos,

Please read this: https://monero.stackexchange.com/a/4463

The post mentions a similar error "MDB_BAD_TXN: Transaction must abort, has a child, or is invalid".

Also, you could try running b1tcashd as administrator.

Let me know if it works.

In ubuntu, try deleting the /root/.b1tcash directory (sudo rm -rf /root/.b1tcash), and then run ./b1tcashd.

Nop, not working, I'll compile it on an other machine and I'll see.
But why you can not just compile the GUI version for windows and post it here to download?

Hi, I've built the b1tcash source code on ubuntu and compressed it in a zip file. You can upload this zip file through this link:

https://send.firefox.com/download/4647df00c7/#BjqWgIuyDgXzKGsxE4Yrgg

This link will expire in 24hours.

Unzip this file, and execute b1t/build/release/bin/b1tcashd

I'm also assuming that you have already installed the dependencies on ubuntu:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install build-essential cmake git libpcsclite-dev pkg-config libboost-all-dev libssl-dev libzmq3-dev libunbound-dev libsodium-dev libminiupnpc-dev libunwind8-dev liblzma-dev libreadline6-dev libldns-dev libexpat1-dev doxygen graphviz libpcsclite-dev

Let me know if it works!

Hi,

B1tcash source code has been built for ubuntu and compressed in a zip file.

Here are instructions to install it on ubuntu:

- Upload the zip file on: https://megaupload.nz/U73fDah7b2/b1tcash_zip

- Open the command line terminal and install the B1tcash dependencies running the following command:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install build-essential cmake git libpcsclite-dev pkg-config libboost-all-dev libssl-dev libzmq3-dev libunbound-dev libsodium-dev libminiupnpc-dev libunwind8-dev liblzma-dev libreadline6-dev libldns-dev libexpat1-dev doxygen graphviz libpcsclite-dev

Unzip the file, and execute on your command line terminal the following command: b1t/build/release/bin/b1tcashd

Let me know if it works!

Hi,

Important security release. All B1TCASH users are strongly recommended to update ASAP.

The new update is available at: https://github.com/b1tcash/b1tcash

This update is related a bug described in: https://getmonero.org/2018/09/25/a-post-mortum-of-the-burning-bug.html

This update is based on Aeon's release: https://github.com/aeonix/aeon/releases/tag/v0.12.6.0-aeon
