Title: Electrum wallet - how do you start the wallet program?
Post by: coinsgod on August 16, 2017, 09:37:45 AM
Installed the desktop wallet a few days ago and played around with it once. Created a wallet. Now this is the 2nd time I want to open it and play around with it. Problem is it never gave a desktop icon. When you go into the folder where Electrum is installed onto your computer it doesn't give an application program to double click to start it. All you have are 3 folders called "certs" "forks" "wallets" then 4 other files called blockchain_headers, config, daemon & recent_servers. If you go into the "certs" folders then there are a few MS-Dos Applications but nothing to start the GUI one. How can you start the Electrum GUI wallet?

Sounds like you downloaded the "standalone" version of Electrum, instead of the "installer".

There are 3 different versions for windows:

1. Standalone - This is just an .exe that can live in any directory you like and you can run it from there... (wallet and blockheader data stored by default in %appdata%\Electrum)
2. Installer - This will run a proper installer and install to C:\Program Files\Electrum (wallet and blockheader data stored by default in %appdata%\Electrum)
3. Portable - Same as #1, you can run from any directory, but the wallet and blockchain data is stored in the same directory where you run the .exe from

You need to find where you downloaded the .exe to... and run it from there (or go get the installer version... it will use the wallet you've already created ;))

I downloaded portable version of electrum.Open her, after create seed, copy seed, reenter in software for verify. After may choose passphrase for wallet.
In any moment may export private keys by entering passphrase if wallet is encrypted.
