My choice will be ETH. In long-run it will have the most value with ICOs power.

BCH is too volatile for my taste. With 300% difficult increasing in hours, price will do a ping-pong again.

NEO is already pumped for buying right now.

LTC is 'old' coin by my understandings.

I would not think about those 4 altcoins for long therms actually
short reason LTC = to expensive to fill up the bag atm, NEO = same reason as previous, ETH= will only last because the ICO, BCH= I'll stands for real btc forever! (Correct me if I'm wrong)

personally I'll choose Waves considering it's potential of it's smart contracts or what ever the call it and the supply,

If you can afford to lose it all (you should) select an ICO with enough upside potential and HODL.

Probably XRP. When I first put money into alts it was mainly a mixture of ETH and XRP as I thought these two had the greatest potential... I still do, and although they've both increased considerably since then, ETH is closer to its fiat ATH than XRP is, so on balance I'd say XRP right now.

Consider doing a short time on Monero(XMR) given the Korean exchange "challenge" this week, sell on Sunday and then buy into your long investment.

Maybe 50% in CVC and the rest in something else.

This is probably the best way if you have the faith ... faith faith faith... baby...

Look, i heard, Waves, Stratis... blablabla  what is the price at the ico?

Waves : 0.17 cents... ok... to to ... ow yes +- 5 $ ( 7 at the max ).  : 25x ( at 5$ ).

All is clear.

Split between COVAL, WBB and IOTA giving IOTA the majority, once it starts gaining traction it will be on a long trip.

Actually, my choices more or less are using the same reasons as these, but for opposite leanings, except not BCH because it is a incidental alt with no real uniqueness from Bitcoin.

Not ETH because it already has too much problems and inflated use with non-practical ICOs.
Maybe NEO because it is the lowest priced (I will have more coins with $1000) and still has lots of room.
Definitely LTC because it is OLD and won't lose fizz if it goes up. It is the second coming of Bitcoin to me :) If BTC is 1 million, LTC will still be 10k.

Out of those four I would choose NEO, but even then I'd keep an ear to the ground to see if you can hear when it's about to take off. Might not be prudent to buy right now. Although it very well could be.

ICO's will have a greater room for growth if they're successful. There's no shortage of them at the moment, with the months of July and August being incredibly busy.

At the moment I'm looking at Ambrosus which has an applicable and unique idea, a strong team and enthusiastic community. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't show interest in them, but I'm interested in them because I have researched them and other ICO's thoroughly. I expect if you do the same you'll find a project that makes sense to you.

I would choose Monero/Zcash. Anonymity is prized by many (e.g. tax evaders, criminals) and given the steady march of regulation, people who are about anonymity will move their assets from Bitcoin to Monero or Zcash.

I advise you to choose NEO, Ethereum and Ripple. The end of this Neo price is very good, we can also see a healthy chart chart from Ripple and ethereum. I think if you have $ 1000, the three coins are suitable to be used as a long-term investment.

Ethereum for me

NEO seems abit pumpish previously for me
BCH is kinda stuck
Litecoin could grow steadily i suppose

But i would suggest something else, Waves

Take a look, you would not regret investing at mark of $4, but try to get within $1-3, i can assure you within 3 year time, it could hit $20

Neo, has a lot more potential to grow. Will soon replace Ethereum as major token platform.
Monero, a steady growt, I don't think they have dedicated miners for them yet.

From your list of choices and with only a thousand dollars to invest with,  I would invest in Litecoin because it has the potential to rise much higher and you'll have a little over 20 of them.  Percentage wise your gains will be higher than owning BCH or ETH.  NEO is also good but Litecoin has been around forever.

I do go with some cheap coin or ICO, something which is under 50 cents with a lot of potential. Cause I suppose your goal is not to make 2k out of 1k in two years. You need something which can go up 10x or 100x.

Litecoin in my opinion only long term. I mean super long term. In my opinion it will not rise too fast, just slowly-slowly.
But etherium and coins on etherium all have great potential!
Also like bitshares and ripples.

If you think waves will only be at 20 in 3 years time it is not worth the risk.

Better off holding BTC which is more likely to stand the test of time.

I'm still not sure about BCH, so from that list I would definitely go for ethereum. Litecoin is very stable, I never see movement in their price, but then again, BTC was the same before it start rising like crazy. I guess we will never know if some very rich people will start adopting Litecoin, like it was done with BTC.

ETH is up there. I think it has major scalability problems and the solutions offered are vaporware. But they are incredibly good at marketing and their ecosystem is sucking up so much developer talent. It's obviously got a future despite its flaws.

LTC is also going to be a top coin, not because of fundamentals, but because it is firmly entrenched in the ecosystem already (the Chinese love it) and is seen as a test bed for BTC.

I'm up in the air about BCH. From a speculative standpoint, it really depends how much money Bitmain is willing to pour into it. XRP is up there; it's the centralized banking coin and will get a nice pump eventually.

It's one of the few coins, that is connected over the TOR network. So all transactions are hidden behind TOR.

Thinking of bch too though. I know btc won't die but the fees are ridiculous lately and I can see loads of people migrating over to bch.

Beside its stability, it is a popular cryptocurrency that also gained enough trust and support from cryptocurrency world. Because of that it has higher chance of sucess compare to other altcoins.

1000$ is a hard money in my opinion, i will invest it on ETH as it will powered and pump by many ICO... LTC is old but i have really good faith on it. BCH have very difficulty of increase in price it took around one to two hours and too volatile, NEO is good as it pump up, and as i heard they are expanding ... dont forget also BTC as one of good investment....

For the long term i choose:

- Ethereum (ETH), undoubtedly they have a great developer, and they have good innovation.
- Ripple (XRP), I like their technology, and I think XRP is great for sending money.
- Stellar (XLM), Their technology is same as ripple, because the founder of stellar is one of the founders of ripple, but if we trace it stellar and ripple have many differences, Their free and recent distribution has developed their platform to target the ICO market.

I am working on this simple backtesting web app: https://coinventure.club (https://coinventure.club)

Maybe you can try to simulate a few strategies with some coins or combinations and it can help you decide.

Here is just an altcoin simulation: https://coinventure.club/venture/1600856975485173831 (https://coinventure.club/venture/1600856975485173831)

You can combine whichever altcoins you like and see what profit (or loss) they made on a given date range.

Honestly, at this point, I'm skeptical that this is good enough to protect anonymity for users in the long term. In the short term, law enforcement won't care, just like they didn't care about Bitcoin in its early days.

But it's very well known by now that law enforcement runs lots of TOR exit nodes. They have done quite a lot to de-anonymize TOR users, and alone, I highly doubt it is sufficient to protect you. Ring CT (XMR) seems promising in that regard. Otherwise, you need to use proper opsec: choose UTXOs carefully when spending, use no-log VPNs, etc...

If I had 1000 i would take a little more risk on lower cap coins to get PERHAPS way better returns.

Research and then make your own decisions.

I would look at

bitbay
byteball
blocknet
komodo
cloak
cbx
xby

any low cap coins with a good road map and proven dev that has steadily been ticking things from their road map for a couple of years.

Byteball seems promising, although I'm a bit disappointed with the way they structured their airdrops. I'll have to look into the others. When you mention low market cap coins, do you have any recommendations in particular? The ones mentioned above are pretty big at this point.

BCH will be Bitcoin soon so it is not an altcoin. That would be my #1 investment though.

I doubt it. I think there's another good pump in it, though, so I'm holding onto my BCH. Bitmain has some power re: marketing and perception, but ultimately, I think that Core will win in the court of public opinion.

Oh, XRP is also a great choice. And as for eth, seems like investing on ICOs is a better choice.
And for BCH, hmm, I'm not really into it.

Don't think Ripple has any long term future, other coins just do things better. However, it might be a very lucrative investment if you can buy and sell at the right time.

Personally i would go with Waves, they have had numerous partnerships over the last few months, and in essence are the Russian version of Ethereum/NEO.

The leasing feature is also very easy to use, you can buy 200+ Waves with 1000 dollars, lease them out and come back in a year so see a nice price rise, and also all the interest/ free tokens that come with the leasing.

If I had $1000 to invest in altcoins for long term, I will choose ETH because ETH is the most promising altcoin for me. Also, ETH is a fast growing altcoin. It has a value nearer to BTC. If I will ETH for a long time, I think my $1000 will be hundred of dollars.

Considering Litecoin, NEO, Ethereum and BCH.

Consider ETC as well. If ETH has the huge potential, the statement is true for ETC as well. That coin has an active dev team as well and a lot of room to grow. The price of ETC should be at least half/one-third of ETH.

If I have up-to a thousand dollars for altcoins investment the best coin i will invest in among your list is neo. I have studied people comment and reaction on this coin and I think the coin is doing very well. Neo  has the same technology like that of wave and in no time we may see a very serious pump that will push the price high up to $100.

1-DeepOnion
2-Waves
I think these coins have great potential and can surely give very good return within even 1 year.So i would hold them for atleast 1 year.

I would choose Primalbase or Wagerr for long term. Because first these coins are undervalued now. They use WAVES platform. Second WAVES is the most promising platform and the best tokens in there are these 2 tokens. Third 1k USD is a small amount, I can play for bigger margin. Conclusion: PBT and WGR for the win.

If i have 1k to invest on altcoins, id go for eth, about 50% and then litecoin for about 35% and the rest i would invest on ripple. Eth is good for investment since it is by far the most stable and competitive altcoin i've encountered and a lot of icos are based on it. Litecoin, on the other hand, may seem so unprogressive but it is still good for long term investment since its projects are a bit promising and developments are on their way. Ripple is also good though it is somewhat similar with eth but it is unique in its own way, and because of its certain technology that makes it different from eth,  this coin has hope and a promising future.

A basic philosophy is that never put all your money in one coin just like never put all your eggs in one basket. Invest wisely between the coins that you think have potential to provide a good appreciation in future. Select 3-4 minimum and purchase accordingly. The coins selection will differ from person to person as every one have their own think like Ripples, Monero, Dimcoin, ETH, Zcash are few of them.

It definitely depends on how much risk you are willing to take. Safe returns? I would go ethereum, litecoin and OMG.  Very risky so you might 100x? I would go to coins that have a good roadmap, have a 6+ month product development timeline where the price of the coin is priced in on no product for a while (OAX, Funfair, BitDice).

1) NEO obviously, because it generates GAS (dividend), and because it can reach ETH levels within 6 to 9 months.
2) LTC is also a very smart investment, mostly because it will not fluctuate as much. I'm guessing it can reach triple digits within 2018, but I'd invest mostly because it's a stable coin.
3) Change, because it's an absolute game changer, it will allow you to pay anywhere in the world with your cryptos. Their ICO is planned for mid september.

I'd like to add Binance and Minereum to this list. Binance because it's the exchange coin used on one of the fastest growing crypto platforms in the world, minereum because a ton of it will be burned with the ART ICO this september, meaning supply drops dramatically, resulting in a boom to 20 maybe even 30$.

Zencash – Secure Nodes later this month or early Oct. Secure and encrypted transactions and communications from that point.

New exchange listings, wallets, and website during September. New Operations just starting in Australia, New Zealand, and Portugal.

Though the price may appreciate between now and when the Secure Nodes go live, I think the really big announcements may come later when there may be agreements with business/group/organizations who want to start using Zencash.

Next the next 4 months should be very exciting.

Ethereum or an ethereum token. Big things are developing on the Ethereum Network because it has attracted a substantial network of motivated, innovative, and brilliant coders who's philosophy is as decentralized and distributed as the platform they're developing. There is so much room for growth on the Ethereum Network, I cannot see how it could fail.

alternatively, any of the low market cap coins with large trading volume (at least 500k daily). Those in the 100 to 250 rank at coinmarketcap. This is where you get 4x in 2 weeks, never in the top 100. The top 50 is if safety and stability is what you are looking for.

I would go with an ICO. These have potential for a very high ROI.

alternatively, any of the low market cap coins with large trading volume (at least 500k daily). Those in the 100 to 250 rank at coinmarketcap. This is where you get 4x in 2 weeks, never in the top 100. The top 50 is if safety and stability is what you are looking for.
4x not ez like you said. but top 50 is safer than the rest

I think litecoin can go up. Many people are now investing in it also many asians are using it, and they don't like that it is going down.

For me i have already invested and Im now waiting for the right moment to sell it.

For a long-term perspective, I would now choose Ethereum and Waves. These coins, based on which custom tokens are created, are conducted by ICO. These coins will always be requested in the future. In addition, the ethereum is an old proven stabile coin that is valued and maintained very well.

Buy some NAV Coin. It is very undervalued and is on the market since 2014. The future roadmap looks promising. And you can also get 5% a year with staking it.

If you havent done anything yet I would say put it all in Blackmoon crypto ICO as mentioned earlier.
If you don't want to do an ICO, what about waiting just a little while longer and se if there will be a downswing in the marked and then buy alot of ARK.

ETH and LTC have been sleeping for too long and now falling after the huge pump of btc while BitcoinCash is just an imitation of BTC so it's not a good option for me. NEO is a fresh coin on the market so the opportunity is very positive for me if I invest my $1k in a long term.

I'd go for Dash, Eth, and Ltc as this are the most promising coins in terms of a long-term investment. Dash price already surpassed Eth price so better get your hands on some. For ICO I can't give any speculation.

I would choose Lisk! Lisk has a great team and around 50 million dollars available for development, Software development kit is out in a 2-3 months, rebranding is on the way. 2018 will be huge for lisk, 100 dollars per lisk within a year-year and a half  8)

For shortterm, i will fully hold on to BCH. And ETH for longterm investment, because i haven't understood about BCH which in fact is a fractional altcoin from btc, which would be less popular than eth, i think.

Sonm, all day. 1000$ will buy you 7500 Sonm, give or take. In less than 4 months sonm will be at 1$. You can then invest your 7.5K into other smaller coins, growing your profits every month until you no longer have to work

As far as I'm aware, mining is only worth it if you have an ASIC nowadays, so your fourth point doesn't really hold for the vast majority of people.

On another note, SONM finally starting to climb, just as expected. Still has room up to $1.20 if it does a similar movement as Golem did. Since Golem has so far been inferior to SONM, it's not extremely unlikely to see a slightly higher price than $1.20 by late December or January/February of 2018.
The real pump should occur somewhere around August 2018 though, which is when they intend to go live.
In the next days or weeks the price could retract a bit, which would create a good buying opportunity for anyone who hasn't piled up during the 3-4 cent FUD phase.

Top choice for long term investment:
 - Btc
 - Eth
 - Ltc
 - Waves
 - Xrp
 - Sc

You should keep many types of coin, so it will be safer.
You can not invest all your money and keep waiting for the right time to buy.

The coins you listed are safe picks that have already amassed a lot of growth.
The coins that I invest in are in hopes of it becoming the next bitcoin with x10 returns at least.
Thats why im picking NEBL, atm it has low marketcap value because it is still in development, however it seems like a promising future project with an excellent proof of stake system that allows you to earn coins as you have NEBL in your wallet.

I would choose Ethereum, Waves and some other promising tokens. However 1000$ is not really a big amount to make good earning from trading, it's a bit less than 3 Eth almost, with its actual price. You can start with it but you need to diversify your investmernts, because the prices are volatiles and you can't making all your eggs in one basket, in addition this will minimize the risk of losing.

If you only give me those option i will put on Neo base on its circullation coin. Eth is already goes too far and need consolidation for year or two years. Neo is new big thing and probably will become bigger then ethereum. Neo hard to grow only because chinese regulation about ico. If that regulation lifted Neo will explode. And also if you hold neo you can get gas per day for holsing it.

NEO marketcap is very high at the moment. I would look into similar projects (new blockchains) that try to solve some problems this tech has, like AION/Cosmos.

It seems to me that you can try to invest in coins, which are at the bottom or just about to release. It can bring you huge profit in a long term. Check out the Universa project. It will be listed soon. The ICO price was $0.01.
