whoopercoin is a royalty program running on waves platform. its just a start for royalty programs for big gamers.

Great utilisation of the blockchain services to run a royalty program within a fast food giant. Wouldn't be surprised if more companies follow suite as it would improve their overall customer satisfaction. There would be no issues on the technical front either as it's like a local blockchain.

You are right - it is genius. According to the following article:

http://fortune.com/2017/08/25/burger-king-russia-cryptocurrency-whoppercoin/

Quote
The Whoppercoin launched in tandem with a new loyalty program. For each Whopper burger customers purchase, they'll receive one Whoppercoin in a special cryptocurrency wallet. While the coins’ wider use is unclear, some reports suggest that the Whoppercoin will be accepted as payment at Burger Kings across Russia.

That's a genius idea for distributing coins. I bet it starts getting used for all sorts of things - it just needs local merchants to agree to accept it, and away it goes.

What...????? In Russia?

Why did not Burger King start their crypto business where they started their restaurant with too many familier face?

I highly suspect this could be just like a HYIP site. Russian owner with UK business certificate.

Don't know what the immediate result be but in the long run block-chain technology is coming to everyone home.

it seems to me a false story about Burger King with New Coin and under Wave ..
Why Burger King did not create a New Code for their coin ?
Like in Eth you can create new Tokens (coins) same as like Wave..
If it is true then Burger King should have his own Fresh Coin Like Fresh Burger

This is just another great application of the technology, basically they are issuing their own coin instead of giving "points.

It's a great thing that a big business is adopting This, not surprising at all they see it as "play money"

it sounds interesting but it is far from practical. it is too limited. you see a real cryptocurrency should be easily used everywhere, they might as well have given everyone coupons on a paper because both of them are going to do the same and a piece of paper is much easier to use than a cryptocurrency. and everyone can use it too.
in other words they have just complicated things for no reason!

when a shop or franchise starts accepting bitcoin, it is bitcoin, you can use it everywhere, you can get your change back in the same way. it is not limited only to that shop. so the hardness of using it is justifiable at least.

not to mention that with your own internal altcoin, you will have to explain to every single customer how it is going to work!

I don't see anything wrong in this because its just a way to still spread the word of crypto currency but the limitation I see  here is on its usefulness to the general population of crypto because this will be limited to the Russians as other have said to be of a loyalty reward program for their client which is something that is not open to everybody.

A modern variation on stamps, stickers, loyalty cards and discount coupons.

Is this true, I mean, does Burger King actually own Whoopercoin? Or is it just an Hoax?
If true, it can reach people who never used cryptocurrency in their lives. Most people do anything to get a discount.

The token thing is being so popular that every enterprise are jumping to it. Even Facebook is rumored to be issuing it's own currency.
Don't know what the immediate result be but in the long run block-chain technology is coming to everyone home.
Facebook has to comply with regulation. Anyone anonymous can create some token with 2 mouse clicks. Facebook is a large company that uses official recognition of the currency.

Will it be called Proof Of Woppers ?

I am not sure if this is hoax or a move just to make some hype but I have encountered this news several times including from twitter and facebook feed. This is also twitted by waves themselves. If this is true, I do not see any particular problem with it. Restaurants and fastfood chain should adapt to the client's comfort and convenience. This is even a great promotion for the entire crypto.

Yeah it's not practical to use on people that doesn't have any relation or information about cryptocurrencies but I don't think it will be the same as a paper coupon. If it's a altcoin , when this project gets international people will be able to send these whoppercoins to everywhere and it will gain value. You can get it and sell it for bitcoin. For now it's definitly doesn't make any sense.

It's just a cheap advertisement trick. They saw the crpyptocurrencies are very popular anf pitched that idea. That brings no innovation or new things to the community. I simply neglect this news about burger king company.

If they want to do something, they can come up with a real project on blockchain.

Thats really a good idea. I think a similar concept was once introduced for buying pizzas where one would pay in bitcoins to get a pizza delivered to his place.
whoppercoin might be actually be a success because Burger king is a huge platform and it is one of my favorite place to eat burgers. It would really be awesome if Burger king would accept crypto currency as mode of payment all around the world. May be they could develop an app where the order amount will generate a QR code and we should just scan and send the required amount . Cant wait if this happens.

I think it's just a big scam so they can market that whoppercoin. because if the owner of whoppercoin is burgerking all branches of burger king receives whoppercoin as of payment why in russia .. or maybe from russia the owner of whoppercoin that just uses the burgerking background. Most of the wavesplatform are shitcoin. but watch out for that whoppercoin that maybe there is a future.

Yeah, that's funny. I think it is actually not very good that more coins are created. I mean, I understand when Estonia plans to launch national cryptocurrency and there are talks about such things for Ukraine as well. And yet I think that in case of private business it would be easier and better to accept one of the established and famous coins. There are so many of them already! I'm sure these new ones don't offer anything new!

I think that is not impossible for burger king to offer bitcoin as a payment of their produce because it a very big company already so no wonder if they can buy bitcoin in whatever the price it may be. Unlike other companies don't recognize how great is to use bitcoin in making money of it or in earning coins. It's really good when bitcoin came out in the economy. Only then government must agree everything in bitcoin's benefit in everyone's country. Hope this will be more profitable.

Well if one talks about it being a marketing strategy then it's a good one.. But it's not an ideal investment destination because of a few facts. First being that the market value of this coin doesn't depend on any economical factors but on pure personal judgement.. Today we have burger king.. Who knows what we might end up with 5 years down the lane.. Second thing these coins can be abruptly ended if the burger king decides to close up rendering all the coins worthless..

Yes i think that this will make other stores start using cryptocurrencies as a payment gateway in their shops. This would be nice, imagine going to adidas or nike and just pay with their tokens... If that happen then we are one step before the real "future" that we all imagine.
But it need more develop, we need more assets in we can exchange bitcoin for those tokens quickly.
It is a very nice idea, i am impressed about all of this.

Burger King has a name already so I think this would not matter too much really. But cryptocurrencies are really a trend in Russia. Thats a good idea and suggestion to Burger King Management. They have influence in fast food business and having several branches in whole world is a sure way to make bitcoin popular ad hoping other fast food chains or stores will follow.

I wish they would use it in every burger king chains and not only in Russia. But it is a nice idea and it might start the wide use of cryptos in food chains.

Thats a good idea and suggestion to Burger King Management. They have influence in fast food business and having several branches in whole world is a sure way to make bitcoin popular ad hoping other fast food chains or stores will follow.
I agree if burger king is done in crytpocurrency, of course this is positive for bitcoin implementation in the real world next, hopefully there are many who will use bitcoin.

Seems like just a pr stunt. Do people really like burger king so much that they'd be willing to get whoppercoins? I like a flame broiled burger every now and then, but pass on a whoppercoin

Why they just not started accepting Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency? For what purpose do they need their own crypto?

The purpose is, other crypto's might turn up to a scam. And bitcoin transaction is way too slowwwww.
If you are a costumer, the time consuming transaction might pissed you off. The food chain's idea is way too smart. They are genius.  :D. If this project booms, they might hit two birds in one stone.

Oh man! this whoppercoin is for keeps. I have 5 whoppercoins in my wallet bought by my waves. Honestly, I do not care about its potential but all I care about is the free burgers.  ::)
Lol I may get some whoppercoin just for the lolz, my friends know that I’m into bitcoin wait until I tell them that I have a coin specialized to order burgers in Russia, they are going to have a big laugh with it, and then I am thinking about telling them how much I have won on the last months so I make them cry for not investing in bitcoin.

The sad thing is that even if I will be credited with some whoppercoin in my waveswallet.io account and want for some free burgers, I am sure the Burger King branches here in my city are not accepting this whoppercoin for sure.  ;D If bitcoin is not even accepted by leading hotels and restaurants because BTC is almost unknown to the majority, how much more to whoppercoin.  :(

Whopper for burger lovers <3 I will get some of these soon. I don't care if it's only available at Russia but there's a future on this thing, it's like some sort of promo/gift cards from department stores. The technical / marketing team of Burger King Russia loves to get into crypto currency and that's possible, I don't know if there's some agenda's on this or just for company's purposes.

I didn't look at this news in this way. May be you are right. But do you really think that a lot of people would invest in whoppercoin?

Yes, please, let us all just have a bit of fun. We are allowed to, right? So WAVES created all these whoppercoins,,, and if you buy them to buy a burger in Russia, will it be cheaper than buying it OTC at whopper for fiat? Does anyone know? I smell a business proposal here if it is somehow cheaper hehe. Maybe whales can dump Whoppercoin and buy back cheap if they want cheap meals.

This is a new path in the marketing world that involves cryptocurrency. The possibilities are quite large. I see many are interested about this.

This behaviour is already used by others companies at others business model, some gas station give you points wich will bring you some discounts without having to pay anything extra for those. Sure its a good step and took by a big corporation as Burger King that is present worlwide, hope others companies do something similiar, but well maybe current royalty programs can improve and became a crypto coin as well.

It's not even a real coin but a shitcoin on an ICO scam "platform"  :D

I lost all respect for BK.
If they looked at this shit and thought hmm yeah lets make a coin.. then they are fucked in the head big time.

But i bet the Russian franchise holder didn't get permission though.

Arbitrage opportunities with whoppercoin? This is getting hilarious, if buying with the whoppercoin is cheaper then you can resell them for a small profit to all of those that want to order burgers in Russia, I’m sure someone is going to try to make some cash that way.
