Since your in the Bitcoin section and not the altcoin section, you can't mine Bitcoin with a computer.  You'll need to buy an ASIC mining device which is purpose built for mining Bitcoin.  Two companies manufacture them, Avalon and Bitmain.  The consume allot of power and create allot of heat and noise.

If that works for you, then, good luck.

It's not about CPU, it is GPU about. You need very good graphic card(s). One or more (on one CPU). There are also motherboards that supports multi-graphic cards designed for mining. You should read more before you ask questions like this.

before this i think you need to understand better some concept like ROI.
then you need to understand how to calculate this date.
then i think you can start to buy hardware to try to reach it.

I gpu mining is better than asic mining because gpus   have better resale value  and  when you order an asic miner from bitmain you need to wait 3 months until miner arrives.

ASIC mining if you ask me. It is designed for that job so it gives its max on it.

sure but it is really expensive in terms of power consumption and cost!

Many common 6-card GPU mining rigs eat as much power as current generation ASIC miners do.

My *3* card GPU rigs eat almost as much power as an Avalon 741.

However, you're not going to make ANYTHING trying to mine Bitcoin on a GPU - if you want to mine on a GPU rig, you need to be reading in the altcoin section.

So what? Name one single business where you can make money without first investing money.
As long as you have money left over after paying the power bill then you are doing good.

:D
It is from Robert Heinlein's book 'The moon is a harsh mistress' and was used for the same reasons as here... Folks keep whining how difficult or expensive a way of making a living is or can be so they need to be reminded about the reality of life.

And Bob stated in at least one interview that it was a paraphrase of a long-running "economist" comment to the same effect.

TANSTAAFL is the actual quote - "There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch" - it's been a long-running Science Fiction meme.

You can invest in old GPUs, ASICs or buy new ones (faster but more expensive). Just make your own calculation, compare between options and make your own decision.
