Hello Crypto World,

I currently have 16 coins (low amt) and looking to invest $1k into my portfolio.  I'm a long-term investor.

My question - what are your thoughts on spreading across 5 coins: LSK, NEO, STRAT, QTUM, OMG, or topping off XRP?

I don't own any of the 5 coins, however I do own a small amt of XRP.

Ripple is totally a company and centralized, know this before putting money in Ripple. Omg, neo and strat are promising ones, yet I'm not sure if it's a good time to buy them. Neo made a huge pump as you all know. I don't like to buy them after pumps. If you can risk your $1000, you can try, why not.

Right! only reason why I say 200 in each is if you go all into one and the rest start popping off you'll regret your decision. Split it up among those choices and you will probably at least have one that is going up on any given day. Always winning!

Well good for you that you are a long term investor. I suggest that you should invest some in bitcoin, consider investing in bitcoin and surely you will profit a lot. Buy at $4930 if there would be a dip. And I suggest to put many at OMG. And try to give some of your money at XEM(best long term investment for me.)

Of the five in your list I would rather replace NEO with Ripple. Yes, XRP is a wise investment. There is still a large growth waiting to happen for the coin. The use of XRP is not yet maximized and the updates regarding the banks using Ripple have not yet affected the value of the coin totally so there is still an upward movement for XRP in the coming months.

Invest on the cheapest one of the five ;D

Great advice.  Actually own all the above except OMG.  I'm thinking about spreading but XRP is really inexpensive (XEM as well).  The above are more expensive and I'm worried about pump (overpriced) however, I'm long-term so it's less critical.

If you are aiming for long hold stratis might also be consider place it inside your wallet and allow it to stake so why you are waiting you are also earning some extra from the stake rewards and with those good reviews regarding to the project itself for sure its still undervalued and by the way if you are also looking for some ICO the one that I use for my soggy is also considerable for long goal,

Your five listed coins is very strong and effective.But my portfolio list so lengthy such as some few coins are Waves,ETH,NXT,ETB,LTC and Byteball.I think this coins is perfect.

I think you 1k$ is invest for waves it's my personal opinion.Waves future is so strong of my looking.Because this coin growth is very high.I hold 100 Waves for long time.

Unless you are risk loving person, I don't think you should put all your money into one coin.
It's always better to diversify and accumulate over time.
Also, it is alway a good idea to keep an extra 20% BTC in your portfolio.
To me,  LSK, NEO, QTUM, OMG are risky assets because I feel like they were over hyped and overbought last month.
If your thinking long term, definitely you should get some LTC.
I personally like low cap anon coins.
But who knows what's gonna happen this month,,,

Must admit, Crypto sure is exciting and it has me dreaming again.  Stocks and Forex were getting a bit old.  :)

One thousand dollars isn't that much to spread over 5 different coins.  You should just pick one and invest the full amount on it.  If it was up to me, I'd put the $1000 on Stratis, the team is working on a lot of interesting releases. 

STRAT is quite good a bet. But let him diverge his investment. The amount might not be much for you, but it could be a lot for him. I think the choice of 5 coins is good. Investing in large cap coins is always preferable as they won't just doom and never recover. These coins are good for long term bet. You can go for it.

Please only invest it in 1-2 coins you like, with only $1k if you try to split it up into 5 coins you will never gain any ground. Believe me, with too many holdings it's hard to make mad gains, because there will always be ones holding you back.

That said, pick only 1 or 2 of these - OMG, LTC, ZRX, ETH, NEO

Strat and OMG still become a good choice right now, The price already decreased a lot since the price correction yesterday, but the chart confirm that the all of the crypto already bounce back again.
But OMG and strat still to be a good choice for you if you are watching the latest news about them.

put everything into Neo now and you will probably get the best return in a short time of a 3,4 months. the price is very good right now

With $1000 you can start to do real portfolio management. The industry has had a tremendous run in 2017 so be aware that now may not be teh best time to allocate, its best to buy on selloffs if possible.

1. Need an overweight to the crypto reserve asset, you wiil need this to buy the smaller names -30% in BTC.

2. 25% to 40% in franchise coins with competitive advantages, this should give you exposure to smart contract platforms and Asia - ETH, XMR, LTC, NEO, STRAT, LSK, NEM, FCT.

3. The last bucket needs to be highly diversified since these names may drop heavily when the crypto industry suffers a big selloff. This is where you invest in the best tech, Names in this bucket might include any of ARK, SHIFT, LBC, RADS, XBY, CRW, FTC, GBYTE, BLOCK, DGB, GAME, ONION, XSPEC, BAY.

In this bucket you are exposed to gaming, privacy, decentralized exchanges.

4. Be very wary of ICOs, there is a bubble in this space and many investors will be hurt.

Some forum members have advised you to bet it all on one name and I am here to tell you the road from hero to zero can be a fast short one. Diversification is necessary for large and small portfolios to grow with controlled risk.

Find few number of good crypto projects and split your capital among them, don't do the mistake of puting all your eggs in one basket. In crypto, greed may wreck you and fear may save you, learn to live in order to fight another day...very important.

I like NEO, OMG, XRP. Choose a penny to invest long term, I choose XRP

This is how I would do it if I had $1,000 in investing money. Look around this forum and you'll notice that people are on the Waves train and the amount of people that are actually in Waves exceeds the number of people that are in the newer coins that had millions of dollars in their ICO sales. It doesn't really make sense that it's that high though the numbers aren't​ wrong. Waves is getting stronger and stronger everyday so if you want to make some money without worrying about your investment so much then invest in Waves.

What is the "bull case" for Waves in your opinion?

In my opinion Waves suffers from the same problems as
similar platforms like Ethereum or Stratis. By that I want to express my concern that the use of the
Waves platform for projects like Burger King´s Whoppercoin may make for a good headline, but doesn´t
really effect the price of Waves. Even if other projects would emerge that utilize the Waves platform
this wouldn´t really affect the exchange rate of Waves.

How to find good altcoin project while he does not know the way to use his money for investing? Even basic knowledge when become to investor is hold his Bitcoin he does not know too.

XRP and XEM seem pretty solid, both are almost always in the topics of discussion,for something it must be.

You invest to many risk coin. Those coin what i know is already 100-800x initial investment. Maybe you better buy soe waves. Status or boscoin or exscudo..

with those 5 coins ill definitely go with NEO or QTUM
but you may look at MCO and XVG if you thiink you need more to choose from..
look at their trend and theeir strong market... this is just an advice at the end its all up to you ..
and you can count on BTC too..

I would choose stratis as a coin to put the $1k in. As it shows health growth. $1k isn't a lot so splitting it up is not a good idea. Choose one coin and hold onto it for a few weeks

The current time is very good for you to invest.

I am also investing long term in NEO and XRP. This 2 coin is very potential for long term investment

I'm thinking about adding the below ($2k):
1. ARK ($500)
2. STRAT ($500)
3. NEO ($500)
4. QTUM ($500)

Or should I add more BTC? XRP, LTC, ETH, and BTC account for 80% of my portfolio. I will add the $2k tomorrow but I'm also thinking about adding additional $20k soon.

 The $20k will be long term as well with 80% consistent with the above 4 coins.  Right now I want to add an additional $2k immediately across the aforementioned alts....

you should sell xrp and focus on bat token more. xrp is hard to back top 2 now. (under 20%). BAT token maybe double soon

You may choose into top5 altcoins which offer a good profit. Stratis and qtum are good for investment and Im confident it will give you a profit.

You have good choices of coins for your $1,000 investment plan on altcoins. If you are planning to invest on 5 altcoins all in all, I would replace NEO with Ripple (XRP). NEO is china-connected and the market is generally dependent on china. Ripple is much better for me.

All in NEO. $50 by december.

ZenCash is good opportunity because it can go at 50$ after node integration, price is still low around 7$. As you can see on Bittrex price is solid and stable miners doesn't damping. as we used to see with many POW coins.
Bankor never been pumped so I it is just a matter of time, so better include it in your portfolio while it is still under price..
CloakCoin slowly becoming one of the best anon coins out there.
GeoCoin almost passing under radar, but has unique technology and use..
Good old Nav Coin, because still standing after all those years.

 For long-term trading it is worth looking at heavy coins, such as BTC, ETH, LTC, XRP, NEM. But also I think that STRAT, LMC will be good choice.

SHIFT, MYST, FEEDINVEST, ESP, ONION, ARK these coins in my opinion can do a lot of x's. But it is still risky projects. But who does not risk?...

If you have 1k to invest I suggest you to look for low cap coins. 1ST could be good enough to invest for middle term and get big gains. If you can wait more (1-2 years) I suggest you to buy ZRX.

If i had 1k i would buy waves with 500$ of it. Then 400$ worth of bitcoin as safety investment and i would buy ark with the rest of my money.

In your list I Havr only qtum coin . 1k dollars is goo amount and for sure if you choose good coin you will earn a lot of profit. More coin is good because they have chances to earn big and preventing loses because if the coin decrease you have other coin. Choose wisely bro and for sure you will earn a lot of profit in the future. You can make a research so you can know what coin is best for your 1k dollars.

I should probably start a new thread or update subject and first post. I invested the $1k+ across a few coins (hence the coin growth in above post versus initial post) and now I'm going to add an additional $2k today on the aforementioned coins (ARK, NEO, STRAT, QTUM).

Try and reinvest the profits you make from your original investments into the next coins you are interested in taking a position in. That way if a crash happens, you only lose what you didn't have before you started :) Good luck!

Lol I will not do that, first I will not use all my money for it because it will be very risky by invest everything. maybe use 400 $ to buy XRP and $400 to buy other altcoin. and $200 to be saved as a backup plan when the risk happens to your investment

If I had $1000 I would make basket of btc, bch, eth, ark, stratis and waves as my bigger portion would go into this.
second basket would be like snt, golem, iota, decred for risky business.

i usually do that when I get a profit from altcoin trading, then that profit 80% I'll use to look and buy for other altcoins that have the possibility and potential to have prices go up in the next few days and it keeps on going until the assets I've got are big, you can pull everything when you feel is enough and you can enjoy the results

If you want to gamble, look for low-cap coins.
If you are long term, I'd suggest 20% BTC, 70% ETH (I believe it's got more potential to fill World's needs than bitcoin) and 10% into something you believe will shot.
No one can tell you which coin is going to grow...

Me too, omg could give him more than others, but remember could, not everything what we expect will be real in future.
