I am auctioning two jalapenos in two separate auctions in this thread. Each auction is for 1 jalapeno with power brick, USB cable, and shipping included. When bidding, say "2x 25BTC" if you want to bid 25BTC for each Jalapeno for a total of 50BTC. Say "1x 25BTC" if you only want to obligate yourself to buying one jalapeno, should you win.

• They are currently mining at ca. 5.5GH/s each.

Is this longer than normal? I figured people in EU / USA didn't want to be up all night or might be busy with work, etc.

Some people do 2 minute extensions, sometimes 1 hour, but on an item like this a 24-hour extension might just be appropriate.  The .5 BTC minimum bump makes it work.  It's not like it's going to get bumped up by a penny each time so it should be an interesting couple of days. 

You say the auction ends 24 hours after the last bid.. but when does the "normal" time end?  >24 hours from 1st bid?

Sorry, I can't take any reversible forms of payment including PayPal. You can quickly convert your USD to BTC using a wire to Gox, Dwolla to CampBX, etc. Good luck bidding.

I'm not sure what you mean by normal time, but I think this will clear it up: the auction ends 24 hours after alwind's post unless someone else bids higher. Does that clear things up?

how do you get 3.85with the blades??? i thought they were 50BTC for 10GH=5?

You click a button and they're 13+. You email him and he replies within a day or 2, plenty of people in the sales thread have ordered and received from the thread.

Can these units be pushed/overclocked safely to 6 Gh?  Also, are you in the Bay Area, or LA region.

The starting price was high to save time. Obviously it wasn't too as, as people are bidding! They may prefer BFL chips because they are the best performers per watt (GH/J) which some people (myself included) deem a long-term advantage. Moving onward, let's use this thread is for the auction, not for discussing ASIC comparisons. Please read here (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison) for an ASIC chip comparison.

Closer to LA. I cannot comment on overclocking -- I have no idea. In my personal experience with FPGA singles and now 5GH/s ASICs, BFL has excellent customer service and I wouldn't be surprised if they entertain an overclocking community. On the other hand, this may void your warranty, so please check with BFL before doing anything like overclocking.

a statement like that sounds very fishy.. BFL hasn't even proven the EXISTENCE of customer service yet.

what so good about this, if u can just buy 1 asicminer blade and it will be almost same speed?

I'm not well informed on asicminer blades. This BFL 5GH/s miner comes with a power supply and enclosure. Foremost of all, in the long run, this unit may outperform the blade. Here's how: this unit is about 30% more efficient with power. As electricity costs rise relative to bitcoin revenues, profit margins go down. At some point in the future, the blade will be using more value on electricity than it is generating. The 5GH/s miner will still be profitable.

Any way to tell what temperature these are running at?

Yes, they report the temperature to cgminer. They're at 46C and the closet they're in is about 29C (85F). The fans seem to be dynamically modulated to keep the temp around 46C. Despite the hot room, the miners' fans are low-flow and rather quiet. Cheers

In my experience, BFL does have excellent customer service; your and others' experience may differ. Read more about the lifetime transferable warranty on BFL ASICs (https://forums.butterflylabs.com/content/121-asic-products-will-carry-lifetime-warranty.html#comments). I don't believe any other ASICs have this level of support. The warranty and best performance-per-watt offered by BFL is what makes this an excellent purchase, in my mind. Cheers!

Thanks. The ROI on these will take some time. Hopefully, the miner keeps working for the next year or more. Also, it will be interesting to see how BFL and other ASICs are deployed or sold in the next 4-6 months.

It arrived! I must get to work but will test tonight and then in morning send message to release escrow if everything is working. I have it running on Bitminter beta and it appears to be working. Don't want to run while at work so will test more later with update to come. Packaging was awesome with sturdy box, double or triple bubble wrap around each component/cable/miner, and no shake or rattle space in box. It arrived in perfect condition as far as I can tell. Great job streblo! Highest temp I have seen is temporarily 54C but short time average is 50C in a room at 77F. Will move to cooler room at 68-70F in basement in the coming days. Thanks again!

Auction completed. Request to release escrow sent. On a side note, I am getting 4.5%-5% miscalculations compared to proofs of work accepted by server in bitminter beta. Is this normal? My gpu miners almost never get miscalculations(it would only be 0.1% or less on my GPU miners). Hashing at 5.4-5.5 GH/s.

SilentSonicBoom and John K were great to trade and escrow with. dxtwo and I met up in-person and he was also great to trade with. Enjoy the miners, gentlemen!
