Ive been watching bitcoin since 2010, Im a network engineer specializing in video transport and amateur programmer, I'm pursueing post graduate studies in Computer science with an emphasis on "cyber security" and have a personal affinity for cryptography. I prefer thinking about Bitcoin as a value transfer protocol suite instead of a "currency". I've been lurking the forums for the last few months, mostly in the speculation forum. I bought my first coins about a month ago and have been trying my hand at trading. At this point I am trading with very low volumes, not necessarily to make money but mostly to learn and gain experience/confidence. One of the biggest things I've already learned is the importance of setting rules and creating a defined trading system rather than trying to implicitly follow the trends. It's much less stressful to follow specific guidelines and it prevents emotionally driven decision making.
