Appears to be a display bug.  All those rows are pointing to the same block on block explorer.  The stats web page is just displaying it multiple times for some reason.

AND we seem to have a 2 hour round (which itself could be just variance) but it removed a bunch of my submitted shares, plus it keeps claiming to be "calculating reward..."

Any ideas?

This has since been fixed.  It was an error in toggling the switch identifying that the block calculation script was running, it got hung up in communicating with one of the servers.  Script ran multiple times on the same block, and ended up multiplying the rewards for Block 997 by 25 (if you went to the details it would show 25 sets of rewards per user ID, each being a full block worth of rewards).

The missing blocks were allocated and the bogus rewards from the 24 copies of 997 were removed.

As in, fixed fixed?  I'm also missing about 20-25 blocks worth of awards, showing as 'None.'  Is that a display bug or a consequence of negative payout not yet paid back in?  My missing awards start with block 989, same as the OP.

If the second, how long would we be mining for "free" until the pool breaks even?

If you're seeing blocks showing as None, you weren't mining.  This entire situation did not have a single share submission lost.  Nobody is mining for free.  If you were donating 2.5%+ when the 24 NOT REAL BLOCKS were showing up in the list, and requested a payout, your confirmed rewards on My Account are negative, but you will still see normal block rewards in the list which show that you're paying back the amounts that you should have never received in the first place.

No, I was definitely mining that entire time.  Like the OP I stopped getting payouts completely as of a block several before the problem block, and got 0 shares credited from then on out.
