the email briefly said that mt gox has reopened my account and gave me a link to go to and test my new password.

it also said that the site will be back up tomorrow.

Fun fact: as the list of account holders is public, anyone can send out "Your account recovery request has been accepted!" e-mails, with links to wallet-stealing ninja trojans. So do your due diligence.

I've got the email too. I'm glad I gave them enough information.  Don't have many bitcoins there though  8)

Does your account have big enough balance?

By big I mean does it have couple Grand USD or couple hundreds of BTCs in it?

There's a theory going around MtGox is only aproving smaller accounts so they don't (can't) stir things up at the initial re-opening.

Anyone with access will have one hour to add BTC, if they are looking to sell.

they just don't want anyone with big balance to withdraw all.
and approve the smaller accounts which it doesn't matter whatever they do.

Well we will know for certain when enough big accounts start to scream.
I thought that extra delay (over $100 (?)) was just for security.

Mine got approved, but guess what, it's empty, since it got hacked a few days before the big hack as you can read in other topics...

Got no reply. Balance is (was?) ~1 BTC and 70 US-$.

It's possible Mt.Gox is going in order of who's got the least there, and if that's actually true, I could think of two reasons.

1, they are trying to avoid a run on the bank scenario.
2, they're trying to avoid getting sued over the larger accounts that people with the leaked DB are trying harder to fraudulently claim.

Of course, it's also possible that the people with larger accounts just have more money because they have jobs, and don't get to stay up as late as I do because they have to go to work in the morning. :)

Just got my accepted email, and I'm a smaller account with almost 23 BTC and no cash in it, but I'm putting cash in first thing tomorrow, I want a chance to buy if it bottoms out. Not sure about the big account little accounts thing, but I did offer two verifications for my account and a long complex password. Glad I'm going to get a shot to get to work when it goes live tomorrow.

you can't expect them to process your deposit the same days especially now.

That's what I'm hoping for, the money has been sitting in my account waiting for transfer to one of the exchanges and I'm definitely putting some in Mt. Gox. Maybe it's best if it doesn't instantly transfer so the big players can get in and potentially sell a few coins at lower prices. If I'm able to sell off at $17 I'll definitely do it now that I know my account is live, but I guess we'll see because I'd actually be taking a small hit at $17 after I made my last buy at $18 shortly before the disaster struck. Interesting tomorrow indeed....

going to be an interesting weekend and I predict this whole thing is going to end up being a net positive thing for BTC.

- gox should be more secure
- it has some competition now
- we're all a lot more sensitive to our part in managing security
- the trolls ought to be a bit tired out for a little while

whichever way the market slides,  we either get...
- continued support at prices that have frankly skyrocketed in the last months
or
- a fresh entry point for the newcomers or those who sat sidelines on the last rally

with this behind us, perhaps more attention can be given to more BTC fueled commerce to balance the speculation?

Stii not for me. I have submitted pretty accurate details though like last order ID, ip addresses etc.

Mine got rejected despite providing 100% accurate password, bank account, address and real name information of my original prehack withdrawals. I can back these up with scans of my real life ID, bank statements.

I feel like I am being scammed.

I've got mine a few minutes ago. New tight security password + a little banking info did the trick. My account was empty though as I managed to withdraw my funds on time. Still waiting the $ to show up in my bank though  >:(

Doubt it. My account had zero coins and zero money and I have not gotten an email yet. I do want to sell some so went through the process to reactivate my account. So I'm one of the least and no email yet.

Mine got rejected, despite the previous 20+ character pwd and the new close to 30+ char pwd...thats just plain stupid!

Now I can sit back and wait some more days waiting for re-check of the additional material I've posted to them, I don't like this.

EDIT: surprisingly, 2~3hrs after supplemental info had been submitted I've got a "green light" from mt. Gox :) nice one!

Approved...  thank God.  Now we'll see how the debacle of reopening the site one hour prior to trading goes...  Of course, they could just change things...  AGAIN.   Fingers crossed that things are finally getting settled ;-)

I have more than 4000 BTC and more than 4000 USD in MT Gox. Got an E-mail this morning saying my was claim was rejected. I have friends in Japan MT Gox.

my claim was accepted about an hour ago
only used a 9char password for the time being plan to change it to a much better one once the site is up
only have a small amount of usd tied up there atm
included my deposit and withdrawal history along with my ip address and my wallet address and i didnt even have an email address associated
with my original  account.
 dont know why some people are having problems with much longer passwords
maybe they aren't complex enough  ???

got my recovery mail too. But no passord test-link. The mail is just saying:

I hope it will work in this way. Only thing i provided to proof i am the owner of this account was my old password. It was an 11 char pw containing low and capital letters + numbers + special characters in random order.

I got the notification about 7 hours ago.

And I was one of those who forgot their pw and had to provide a lot of account history information. Just goes to show things are moving a log just fine.

Ouch that must hurt. I admit I got nervous when clicking on the link, for no more than $650 total. But 4000 BTC is serious stuff...

My claim was rejected, which is strange to me.  I had a 20+ character pw, and I gave them my dwolla account number to be safe. I had changed my password about a day or so before the big crash bc of the rumors of hacking, so perhaps my old pw was rolled back to or something. I did not think i would have a problem reclaiming my account.

The system auto-rejects if you have >$100 in your account and you don't supply a balance estimate.

That's weird. I just got confirmation . . . but no link to test my password. Anybody else get this password test link? Sounds suspicious.

Just got acceptance for one of my two accounts (after the initial rejection) and rejection to the other one.  Problem is I have no idea which one it was.  Both use the same email address - so it's not very logical that one is accepted and the other no - but maybe they did not notice that.

Yea, it sounds like someone is trying to 'phish' a password.  It's important to look at the top of the browser page to make sure that the link in your email actually took you where it said.  Email links are much like hypertext links -- you can give them a link that says http://www.yahoo.com, but actually sends you to http://www.google.com.  In my client, if I hover over the link, it will show me the target destination.

My email didn't say that the account recovery had been successful; it just gave me a URL to go to on the recovery site.  *That* said that the account recovery had been successful.  But apparently Mt. Gox recognizes that I am me. ;)

I got in this morning. I had to send my approx. balance in USD/BTC.

Apparently if you have "money that folds" in your account, you'll get auto-rejected if you fail to provide your approx. balance as part of your Proof.

Looks like I'l be trading again tomorrow  8).

Second attempt with additional info with balance was a success.  :)

Accepted without needing to provide proof.

Had a decent password and there was nothing in the account, so that probably helped.

So Gox got back to me with the new information I added, great success now.

Now to get my new bank account (for online stuff) linked to Dwolla, and get started. :-)

Finally nice to see this train moving for people, I was lucky enough to be verified on the first attempt, but I did use two forms of verification to get it done. any countdown on when the market is going back up?
