Title: What PSU to choose
Post by: forkbomb on September 17, 2017, 06:24:42 PM
Hi,
I'm configuring my rig and the thing that I can't find (or has extremely high price) is the PSU.

I'm about to buy 3x1070 with the idea to fill the MB with 6 of them in the future (with risers). So I was planning to but a 1000W EVGA (I can't find any 1200W EVGA), but prices are too high (230€ for the 1000W, 1300W is out of my budget).

I've read somewhere that server PSU could be an option; and prices are also good.

My question is: what would you suggest to buy for a rig of max 6x1070?

Thanks

You could go with 1 evga 1600g2.  But it's abit overkill.
 IF you get a 2psu adapter go with 2x750 w G3 supernova or 2x 850 G3 supernova i would recommend.

Many miners will buy 2 or more ATX power supplies to spread the load.  Buying two 750W ATX power supplies can be cheaper than a higher wattage single ATX power supply.  Also, many miners are switching to server power supplies with breakout boards, as they are designed to run in challenging environments.  But if you run a server PSU near it's maximum loads the tiny fans can be loud, so make sure your rigs will be away from your living areas if you use these.
