I've come across a number of places that will exchange BTC into fiat currency, but all have a shockingly bad exchange rate.

What methods offer the best exchange rate these days?

you can use bitfinex, bitstamp or coinbase for best rate. other small exchanges can't give you best rate because of volatility.

actually if you want to encash/convert your Bitcoin to Fiat or vice versa,
the best place to do it is in your local exchanger,it should be there.
it is not really good to encash/convert your Bitcoin to Fiat in international exchanger like Bitstamp,Bitfinex and others.
they will charge you quite many unlike your local exchanger.
i always encash it using my local exchanger and they did not charge me a lot unlike those international exchanger.
other than that try to sell it off the market aka sell it to another Bitcoin Users,
that is the easiest way to do that,low fees but high risk because they can scam you.

If there is a little gap in the rate of bitcoin in exchange and if they will try to exchange their bitcoin into the fiat and the rate will not become a problem as long as the gap is not too long with another exchange site, But every exchange site has the different valuation. But just try to use like luno or others.

I think the best place to change bitcoin into fiat is to get a plastic debit card from xapo app and use it to withdraw cash from your local ATMs.
This card completely works as a smooth exchanger worldwide.
If in future,exchanges get banned,this card gets no obstacles.It remains consistently good in performance than other exchanges.

Where are you located?

If you are American and want to withdraw dollars, then Coinbase is your best bet.

If you are European, then use Kraken (they can even do a SEPA with euros into a British bank account and you will receive pounds).

If you are Korean, there are a bunch of korean exchanges that allow you to withdraw won. Ditto with the ruppee, rupiah etc - there are local exchanges pretty much all over the world that will allow you to withdraw in your local currency.

Don't bother much about the prices on different exchangers because they will keep fluctuating like forever. Every exchanger has different price tag because of the traded volume on there platform which is different for each of them.


So what you can do instead is to look for the best one based in your country and trade over there. You will never get right one but just try to get one which is best in exchanger rate as well as your convenience of transferring the funds to your bank. This might be achieved with wallet that supports the exchanger platform.

coinbase, xapo, localbitcoin. These are my top three. I have not used any other exchange. You can also sell it to your friend or co-worker for fiat but at this price you would need to use exchange or localbitcoin if you want to sell anything above 2 btc in one go.

If coinbase allows you to buy/sell than they are best in the industry right now or you can use exchange platforms like kraken and bitstamp to convert your bitcoin into fiat and make withdrawal request.

Alternatively you can use localbitcoins like p2p trading platfrom from where you can search for bitcoin buyers near you to sell bitcoin for your local fiat via bank transfer or cash deposits.

You can also use changer.com like sites to exchange bitcoin into other payment gateways like perfectmoney to hedge against bitcoin volatility or convert your bitcoin into USDT and hold them in your usual bitcoin addresses.

GDAX has no maker fee so it's a good option.

Friend don't bother much about the differences because exchanges are not usually stable even in paper money more-or-less cryptos that are volatile. What you need to do it to put your eyes down in your country, research and ask you would find or you have guys who are also in bitcoin business who would exchange for you in your country with escrow . Is about your country. I just converted the very little I had in my local currency straight to my bank account, is real and sweet.

I change my bitcoins to fiat in localbitcoin.com site as their are so many users who are from my country and i can get directly in my bank account. more over this site give high security and all transaction are under escrow system.

some exchange can help you withdraw to your bank. like wex(btc-e) you can easy withdraw to perfect money

localbitcoin is the best you can use beside the other because in that site you can find people from your country, at least you know where that person live so if something happen, you can visit to that address. if there is any of local website that giving service for the people from your country then its good and you can use their service.

localbitcoins is good rate, but you must wait until buyer buy youre coin

i use localbitcoin for change, simple and pretty reliable. But not for large sum, cause of in my country you may have problem with tax inspection.

Try to search for your local exchange first since it's more way accessible than dealing with international exchanges.

Now that you care for exchange rates, it's a mandatory thing to do that you will listall available exchanges that supported your country then compare the rates from it. Not just the rates, also include the withdrawal fees when you want to cashout it out as fiat since withdrawals fees may vary depends on the method used.

I think that there is local specific in every country. I think somewhere there is even a tax when you withdraw a profit. So far, in Russia we don't have any taxes for crypto and I use exmo. USD transfer out from there is the cheapest (comparing with RUB)

I should try xapo maybe, as coinbase charges a very high fee, even sending and receiving cryptos costs much more than normal wallet. Local bitcoin sometimes don't have best price

If you are from America you should use coinbase but if you are from other part of the world localbitcoin is the most advisable. You should also try to always enable escrow in all your transaction so that fraudster will not scam you your hard earned bitcoin or others coins. Localbitcoin is the most use bitcoin exchange trading platforms and to me most trustable for now maybe in future we may have some things related to localbitcoin.

Lol, exchanges are the places where people exchange their currency. There are a few types and styles, but that is the answer. It is easy and filled with fees and limits and likely will eat your money before the day is over, leaving you $20 less in the pocket and disappointed. Obviously, the only earning from the exchange will be to charge high fee when you order an exchange of currencies.

Don't use Coinbase, they have a 1.5% fee. Their exchange, GDAX, has a 0.25% fee for BTC. No fee for limit orders.

All those mentioned exchanges above by many users here are good, but I'd recommend you to go to your local exchange, it's the most convenient way to exchange your bitcoin especially if they were regulated company which exist under the government's rules. keep safety ahead.

Here it will depend upon the country where you live Because country to country there are Many private sites are available who are giving such types of the services to make buy sell directly .
Here in my country India unocoin , zebpay are better to make buy sell for the fiat In INR .
If you are from a country where such types of services are not better then you can use localbitcoins.com , at thie site you will be able to trade ( buy/sell) directly to the users with the small fee of escrow service of the localbitcoins.com , As this site you can offer and also can accept of the offers like coupon code of any shopping sites and also can accept any payment mode that is available for you and the from front people.

the only way is to wait for the price as you expect. because almost all exchanges must have a competative exchange rate. I think you buy bitcoin at a high price and now if you sell it then you will only incur losses. be patient until bitcoin prices increase and you will not lose. this is an opportunity to make an important decision in your life.

You are very much right. There are so many exchanges available. The only thing you need to take care of is this whether the exchange which you are opting for is whether trustworthy or not. For me, Bittrex is the best exchange and is most widely used all over the globe. You should at least give it a try.

I always trust bitstamp, they are the first and widely used by many around the globe for fiat to altcoin transactions and vise versa

I have always used remitano and luno anyway but I have always preferred remitano mostly with their rates. It is an organised P2P system using escrow method which has been very organised and effective as far as I am concerned. I haven't tried any other means but at least from my research and experience, this still seems to be good for me until I find another better alternative.

I'd say MOST use Coinbase, but a BitPay debit card is the BEST way. And it's not even close...

If you have a Coinbase account use GDAX, the fees are 0.25% for BTC, and 0% if you use limit orders. BitPay has a 1% fee.

Localbitcoin is better in converting bitcoins to fiat. All the matters are quite easily handled. Moreover majority is using so they have better services. What I think main service should be security in such transactions, so yeah, they are much popular in safe and sound security services.

Bitcoin is very easy for us to travel outside the country, we don't need a lot of money ordering, there are enough bitcoin only. This new style to the world. This is one of the new world order.

What do you mean by shockingly bad? If they are low, how much lower from the Coinbase / Bitstamp rates? But to understand a bit more, could you please tell me which country are you residing currently. Localbitcoins are available in most of the countries, and the rates are pretty good as well.

There are lot of platforms where you can exchange the bitcoin in to fiat currency. I personally prefer localbitcoins website. IT is not an exchange, instead it provides a platform to the traders to connect and execute a trade. The rates are competitive and usually at the higher side. I Have used their platform for many times and never faced any issue till date. Just try to trade with a reputed person. You can see trader's reputation point before you can open any trade.

If you want the best rates where you will be happy and the charges you will pay will only be to the miners in form of transaction fees, the best is to sell to individuals who are also looking to buy bitcoin and want to avoid the high transaction fees as you are also doing by going through the exchange sites. The most common one is the localbitcoin but one needs to be extra careful on that platform. Another way to go is to visit if possible a national forum and identify trustworthy individuals to transact with and you are sure to get the best deal.

I agree with h0lybyte that a debit card is the best option for exchanging bitcoin to fiat. They immediately exchange crypto to fiat at upon request at a rate very close to the average going rate across the exchanges and you also get benefits for using the card.

Two places I know of are the most common, right on the exchange and sites like paxful. The drawback to the exchange is KYC regulations and those hoops. The other sites do not require much, but depending on the exit FIAT form, the rates can be highly tipped against you. Best to make the FIAT exchanges as rarely as possible.

Localbitcoins would be the other alternative if you do really like to exchange your btc to fiat if you dont like exchange rates but mostly rates wont really much differ into those people who are on localbitcoin and into common exchanges.

When trading coins, getting back to Bitcoin should be considered a safe place for you. Bitcoin might dip here and there, but a week or two will always show a higher rate. I only use localbitcoins to encash my coins as this is the only option available in my country and i think it is the best option. You can even interact with the buyer seller physically and this makes the process more trust-able and transparent.

There are many ways to exchange your BTC into Fiats :
- You could sell Bitcoin for some others currency like Perfect money, paypal , webmoney,....
- You could sell Bitcoin for your nation fiats at your local.
- You could sell Bitcoin in coinbase to get a debit card.

In my country there is a forum where buyers advertise there rate as a seller, you will chat up with the buyer and once an agreement has been reached then a reputable escrow will be involved, thereafter transaction is triggered the seller will exchanged his BTC for fiat and will receive an instant alert from his or her bank.
Also localbitcoin is another place were BTC van be exchanged to fiat.

Good thing here in the philippines we have an official wallet app for bitcoin because i read some posts here regarding of exchanging of bitcoin into fiat are prohibited on their countries. I hope someday we can cash out our bitcoins or better all of cryptos across all over the countries.

Correct, the Philippines have a good local exchanges that can easily convert your bitcoin to fiat. And there are options for you to pay some of your bills. However, for most country that do not have that support, localbitcoins should be the best choice for you. So just have to look for a buyer that is really trusted and you can even do face to face if you want. There are really a lot of options like Xapo and Coinbase or even a BitPay card. So I think it really depends where you are located, but I pretty much give you a lot of options if you are in the US or Europe.

Previoisly i was recommending localbitcoins and xapo debit card for an easy exchange process from bitcoin to fiat.
Now i came up with an update of more similar services where you can comvert bitcoin to fiat currency.
Bonpay.com and Loadoo.com, you can buy physical debit card from any of those websites and use at ATMs to cashout fiat.
Not only this but you can even deposit paypal money and convert to bitcoin using loadoo.

I believe it is best if you exchange it to an exchange base on your country so that it would be easier for you to have access to it. As for me, whenever I received some of my earnings, I would change some to fiat in our local exchanger and then send it directly to my bank account so that there would be no hassle whenever I wanted to withdraw money. There is still other options too to cash out like sending it to a money exchange also but it has fee so I prefer to send it to my bank account because it has no fees involved.

I think it depends on you on where you want to change your bitcoin with low fees. but for me its not a big deal if the exchanges fee Is huge or not, because you cant change your bitcoin without service fee. I do change my bitcoin on my local bitcoin wallet provider to exchanges it on to our fiat money, so its more easy to me to change it on to our fiat even its have a service fee, one thing, don't change your bitcoin in a low fees site, because I think they are not trusted. just an suggestions.

I really don't exchange Bitcoins I use it to recharge my carrier, Use it to buy something online, Use it to buy some games So, actually I am exchanging my Bitcoins by buying stuff online.

What most peoples do,

- Finds a Buyer and sells Bitcoin
- Finds someone locally and sells Bitcoin
- Sell Bitcoin on some exchange
- Buy product with Bitcoin and sell that product.

There are ao many ways but before proceeding any check the legitimacy of the service:
1. Local Bitcoins : Really good concept to sell your btc easily and get the money in your own local currency with a fees of only 1%. All you have to do is send btc post a trade when someone is interested in buying your coins he will send you first and then you release it.

Most of the people are using coinbase but since they are becoming strict everyone that wants to convert their bitcoin into fiat currency are into local exchanges.


We can't have that method to offer that you are talking about because  these days the price of bitcoin isn't stable and keeps on moving. The whole market depends on the supply and demand of bitcoin and everyone doesn't have a method for that.

There are a lot that you can actually use on the internet. But be careful with the urls. Make sure that the site is secured and that all the characters or spelling of the website address is right. You can use coinbase for example. But really depends on where you are. If you have local exchanges in your place, then better you do it with them. Or with a trusted person so you can save a lot with fees.

It feels like you are recommending to avoid the use of fiat exchanges but it is impossible mate. Crypto and fiat have a co-relation and it is all due to these exchanges, we can’t ignore any of them when we step into cryptocurrency.
According to my knowledge almost every country where cryptocurrency exists there are local exchanges, who provide the services to the locals to buy and sell bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency with the local currency. Apart from the local exchanges we have several services like OK pay, PayPal and pay easy where we can exchange bitcoin to fiat.
I personally prefer local bitcoin exchanges because they are convenient and their service is much better and quicker than any other instrument used for this purpose.

I've used Coinbase in the past to convert and they do charge a fee to convert but I don't recall how much. It didn't seem outrageous at the time. You may want to consider asking friends that want to buy Bitcoins if they want to buy some of yours. This would be a win for both because neither of you would need to pay a fee other than the miners fee. This could also be a safer method of cashing out and you could avoid government taxes.

actually i am using local exchange to withdraw my btc into fiat and so far, i think its works like a charm and i don't have any problem with them. the local exchange is also my friend with the same country with me but different city and we've meet so i am believe with thim. i don't know with the other exchange and how much fee they want because every exchange make their own fees. you can try to use localbitcoin and find people which is the same city with you so you can feel easy to exchange your btc to fiat.

Yes localbitcoins are more likely to use for converting your bitcoin in fiat. They provide you better resources and services than all other local exchanges. If you can afford so better is to make exchanges at international exchangers like Bittrex or Poleniox but they cut much fees. From local exchanges localbitcoins are somehow better.
