There are news about accepting bitcoin as a payment at Amazon. Not really a surprise... Every business that will allow bitcoin, will have a better source of income, as we all understand that BTC is going to grow for the next years.
More than that, it's a sign of good health to use innovative and new ways of transaction for a company.

The only point that might stop them, is that if government doesn"t allow them to do that.

If this news is correct, the it is a big news for crypto-currency world as it gives more value to BTC if a online market leader like amazon accept it. It can take BTC to moon. If it happens, it is a great achievement for Bitcoin.

I think it is just a rumor that are spreading around by some bitcoin users, amazon top executive did not even made any official announcement about accepting bitcoins as a payment method on their platform yet. But if it truly happens in the future, it would be good for the values of bitcoin, as it will surely increases the total number of bitcoin users around the world.

This would be huge for Bitcoin. It would mean: marketing - every visitor of Amazon would see, hear or read about Bitcoin, regardless of knowing anything about it. And it would mean: trust. If Amazon accepts it, it must be good and trustworthy.

Till now, we didn't get any official news from the Amazon, only people are circulating the news and creating a lot of positivity in the market. I think the news may seem to be fake because if they want to accept means they can directly do the announcement in front of the media.

I don't believe it because it is impossible now, bitcoin can decrease 50% in just one day. It is just a speculation to pump the market. I wish it was true.

This would indeed be a great news for all bitcoin users, because it will surely make BTC value pump a bit! Now, Amazon might be studying it, am not sure that this will sort out and happen, beacuse BTC is still a risky market, that needs stability. I would prefer if amazon accepts other altcoins, bitcoin has become a little slow and expensive for tiny transactions, but if you can do other coins like digibyte, stellar lumens or ripple it would be much more convenient.

it will be just bitcoin and it will be a short rally in short term because of news. the altcoins may even drop as the bitcoin market rallies and takes all the money like a big magnet from the rest of them.

That is a great news and if that really happens then it will take the price of bitcoins to the moon and even more users will become aware about bitcoins who prefers to do online shopping and it will take adoption to higher level.

They will probably do it so you can load btc into your account and they will adjust the value as it moves up and down for you in real time probably quite a bit below exchange value so they can cash it out immediately.

I think this is another fake. We regularly hear this kind of news, but they never come true. Until bitcoin will not be regulated by legislation Amazon would not venture to provide a platform for trading bitcoins. It is a pity of course. It would be a very big step towards the bitcoin community.

If it came from a credible source such as coin telegraph the chance of that news being true is above 60%. If that were to happen it with cause not just pump to whole cryptocurrency market. It would also cause a great deal of exposure to bitcoin and other crypto making adoption of people get so fast, we might even need to find solution to slower transactions again by that time.

I don't think they would do this just because the lacks of blockchain technology (not reversable transactions, dirty money and so on). There should exist some convenient way to adopt blockchain for this kind of matters.

Of course like all of you, I harshly hope that it's true, but we don't have to think like investor in this case.

Remember there is a scenario where Bitcoin crash and has $0 value. I don't think Amazon will risk on it at the moment. Bitcoin needs to grow up a little more, China's position has to be cleared, and all others gov's in fact.

I believe in Crypto, but I'm sure that Banks (and govs in fact) will not let Bitcoin grow.

There are lots of rumors going on about big companies accepting bitcoin or other crypto currencies but I dont think its that easy to start this process. I have even heard of Uber is thinking of accepting but only official statements can make something solid.

In as much as I know this is going to be a great breakthrough which is needed at this time, I am still not going to alter my position because of that and waiting for few more days is not something that will kill anybody. October is here already, let me see the implementation and I will know its time to believe it but until then, I will want to sit on the side line pending when things will become clearer.

The issue is always going to be the price volatility. However, if they were able to convert to USD through an automated system and exchange it could work.

i dont know whether there is such thing like amazon will accept bitcoins from next month because so far i did not come across such news from the web or from them as i am also a regular customer of amazon and so far i havent got any such updates

Everything I have read says that this definitely isn't happening. However, to be fair, we will never know definitively one way or the other until Amazon says something about it.

It would come as no surprise because more and more companies are accepting bitcoin for payments, and Amazon is no exception. Also, it will create the additional demand of bitcoins to use at the market.
However, Amazon doesn't confirm or reject any statements about that, so it's hard to tell for sure.

First let us compare WallMart vs Amazon as the US retail magnate.
-WallMart focuses only on chains of retail stores and concessionaires they are less diversified not adapting to new marketing technology.
-Amazon is well diversified from selling books , ebook reader, AI, digital personal assistant "alexa", online retail stores , logistics, cloud computing
in short Amazon is well adapted to new technology and it well develop more technology for the next 20 years which WallMArt are not,

So there is no doubt even if it is unconfirmed rumor that they may accept Bitcoin for the next couple of months, Bitcoin is technology and Amazon is adaptable. One more thing there is another rumor that the Amazon's R&D team are developing their own virtual currency to rival Bitcoin, they have already a billions of patronizing customers as their users, so it is easy for them to launch that project and it will incorporate to their AWS cloud service and their AI.

I have heard of this news too. That amazon would be announcing their new update on october. Which may include making bitcoins as part of their payment methods. Sounds good right? Well, too bad it’s just too good to be true. But still, I hope that someday this really happens because this happening would be a big step not for just bitcoin but also for all the other alternative coins in the crypto world. Which means more exposure that can lead to bigger demand which then means higher market prices.

We can only hope for the best and speculate on what may be the future of bitcoin. But one thing is for sure. I ain’t goin nowhere. I’m gonna stay on this ride for as long as I can.

Just view it from Amazon perspective, they have a lot of upsizes but only a few downsizes. Amazon is not a company to ignore innovation. If this is a way how payment will change in the future, they will have to have a slice of the pie. And yes, this will bring Bitcoin closer to mainstream as more e-commerce will follow Amazon lead. It is a very good news for bitcoins.

I doubt that it is true. Jeff Bezos is one of those world leaders who are really into using cutting edge technologies, including blockchain, of course. However, Amazon is an USA based company, which makes it completely depend upon the policy makers of the states. So until it won't be globally accepted by US authorities we won't see any BTC or other cryptocurrencies on Amazon... But we shall see what happens

I few days ago I posted that I belive it's unlikely that Amazon will add Bitcoin as payment method anytime soon. But maybe I should reconsider my opinion since I read like 3 articles which refer to the rumor. I wasn't even looking for any information about this. So this rumor seems to be a hot topic.

If it is true then it will be very good for the future and will be very good for cryptocurrency market. hopefully there will be an increase in October on the market.

If Amazon accepts bitcoins then surely the price will increase. This site is run in all countries, and it has many customers all over the globe so 100% it will affect on bitcoin price. But now this news is legit or just a rumour nobody knows. to enter October just 1 week left let's wait and see.

Yes, it would be great for Bitcoin and the crypto-world in general if it was true, but now it's just the rumor, so let's not have high hopes of that.

Where is this news coming from. Amazon is not likely to use bitcoin, but they may accept it through third parties! Bitcoin need no platform. It is in any platform interest to accept bitcoin because it is way superior to any form of payment at this millenium.

Rumor or not, accepting Bitcoin as a digital form of currency should be a normal thing by now, no matter what the price is, when you are converting to fiat on the spot you are just losing a potential extra profit if price increases you could have your extra profit but if you want to play safe you are earning the expected profit once you complete the exchanging process. for Amazon they could even become a major exchanging and payment processor to not only do the converting for their own deals but process for millions of people in the future.

I really don't see why Amazon would want to implement Bitcoin in its current state, with the following flaws:

-Expensive transactions
-Slow transaction time
-Unnecessary complications
-Would be confusing to regular users

While I'd like to think it would happen, I don't see how this multi-billion $ company would profit much from including bitcoin, as the headache wouldn't even increase sales that much. I don't see them adding ANY crypto coins because of these reasons, especially because they can just use something like Paypal which is based on a fiat currency (much more stable) and has much less risks, and is practically instantaneous.

I think, that would be a great idea, considering that not all people have bank accounts/cards (actually, only few people are owning such). Bitcoin is easier to use and can be access by anyone as long as you have valid ID. Another thing is that, bitcoin is tax free (you don't need to pay any tax when sending bitcoin from wallet to wallet).

Not that high anymore. There are transactions being confirmed with very low fees. No Spam + SegWit are making it possible.

It does not make sense for Amazon to adopt BTC at the moment for the following reasons:
- Failure in implementation has high (negative) impact on customer satisfaction
- Adoption rate of BTC is to small to create any reasonable additional revenue for Amazon
- Resources spent on implementation can be spent to improve the business model somewhere else where a higher ROI is possible

I have a developer account on amazon and ask my personal manager about the Bitcoin story but she don´t know nothing about this... She might not be in the right positions, but still I think if its serious employees with a certain level would know...

It is a good news indeed that bitcoin is being trusted more now, but the effect on its value might not show immediately. It will take some time since not all knows how to use it even a big business like amazon will accept it as payment, only those currently using it will benefit but the later on it will attract mo people and they will be furious what is this bitcoin, by that time there will be more incoming investor.

If amazon uses bitcoin for payments through bitpay that is one thing, because bitpay converts the BTC into USd right away and charges amazon a small fee.

BUTif amazon accepts bitcoin as payment and holds on to it in their own bitocin wallets, THENthat is very big news because they see bitcoin as something that will continue to do well.

It's about time they do. In fact, in my opinion they're quite late in implenting this and I really do hope they will. If this will push through I think we might be welcoming more investors since Amazon have also a wide platform. And I believe that in every part of the world there are people who opt to transact with them. Though I haven't transact with them, I have friends who do but they aren't into btc but with this news I might be able to introduce btc to them.

I've been hearing this story for a long time, Actually it is not possible cause Amazon is a Giant selling site and the worth of bitcoin is Incredible Volatile.

It is just a rumor, and most likely a false one. The story was originally posted by a well known crypto-currency enthusiast in Steem or Reddit. And he posted a few screenshots as evidence, and the word "Bitcoin" was not found in any of these documents. I still believe that there is zero chance that Amazon may accept Bitcoin in the next 5 years.

I believe that they are only rumors with no solid basis. Anyway for amazon to accept payments in Btc, minimum must had past at least 5 years, but above all Btc should be legally accepted in large part of the world thus demonstrating its solidity as coin.

It's just a rumor so I won't believe it until there is official word. I'm not expecting it to happen this soon anyways. But Amazon accepting bitcoin would probably be THE BIGGEST positive to happen to bitcoin. If Amazon were to accept it that would shut up all the people that say bitcoin isn't money, because through Amazon you could buy anything with bitcoin, therefore Bitcoin would be an accepted form of money if everyone's eyes.

My friend got scammed through a link being sent to him and I don't know what exactly happened because his not online for past few days.. I don't know if it is phishing or any other kind of malware.. Thanks for bringing this up. I offered to make a bet that Amazon would accept BTC within 18 months. I still think they will. One of the reasons for volatility, imo, is it's investment status, rather then exchange medium. Amazon could greatly enhance the exchange side of the cryptocurrency.

Everything will depend on the success of Bitcoin. Right now, only around 10 million people are using Bitcoins, and most of them are passive users. The exchange rates are far too volatile. May be in the next five years, the user base will expand to 100 to 200 million users. If that happens, then Amazon, Ebay.etc will be forced to accept Bitcoin.

That's been in there companies meeting agendas for more than a year. So no this isn't a surprised and of course we believe it. All you have to do is the proper amount of research to know what's going on with companies like this. It is public information and it is not hard to get. Big company like Amazon is bound to support Bitcoin for their sales or else they will lose the customers with bitcoins .

there's no reason for these companies not to, at the time, there's no law forbidding the use of bitcoin, and it only serves to profit them. more payment options just means more people able to pay, and they know bitcoin fanatics will just buy something for the sake of buying something off amazon or wherever with bitcoin. it's a move that only makes sense and furthers their own interests (money).

i'd disagree, bitcoin or not, i dont think amazon would stand to lose customers if the proposition was denied; they're a well established company serving the interests of millions of people, and if the bitcoin integration proposition is denied, nothing changes. it's not as if theyve taken anything away. however, implementing it does have the potential to attract a larger audience, and that would translate into more income for the company and its stockholders, it's a win - win and they've only to gain from doing so.

That would be great! I would be able to spend my Bitcoin without intermediary. There is one company in my country which accepts payments with Bitcoin and after that they make a wire transfer whenever I want. Unfortunately, they only send money in my local currency. I believe it. Cause Bitcoin is coming very popular all around the world and there are some countries that legalized Bitcoin and accepted it for payment. Well, other websites are doing this, for example, overstock.com and look at the stock growth for it. Amazon may accept Bitcoin but by October I don't think so maybe we will have to wait longer.

People in this market are too easy of believe and thus take everything for granted without doing any logical thinking or research themselves. If Amazon was even considering to accept Bitcoin as payment option, it would be them to announce their interest in doing so, or that they are investigating the possibilities of adding a Bitcoin payment option to their platform.

Why would you even care about that? Fiat too is used for money laundering, drug sales, weapon sales, etc -> do you hear anyone about that? Nope. In the same way, people shouldn't mind it with Bitcoin. Whether it's a car, a piece of art, Gold, Bitcoin, etc, everything with value can be used for whatever shady purposes - never blame the tool.

yes, this surprises me ,, and i believe amazon will accept bitcoin ,, because i said that this bitcoin is ours joint ,, everyone every individual ,, all have the right to receive bitcoin and make it as a legitimate transaction tool ,,

no, you'll always see those threads. either by fudsters who keep at their attempts to drive the price down for their own gains, or by those who are actually clueless and panic every time the price of bitcoin drops a few dollars. it's a never ending cycle; you'll get used to it after a while. that aside, i dont see how amazon starting to accept bitcoin is that big of a leap, newegg started accepting bitcoin a long time ago, nothing changed. i dont see anything significant happening off of this either, were it to happen.

like i said above, i dont see how just amazon starting to accept bitcoin would launch it towards becoming mainstream. sure, its a big step, and a sizeable landmark towards it becoming mainstream, but it's not as if amazon is the defining factor.

If this is real, then the price can go up by a lot of money, everybody would want to get bitcoins in order to purchase stuff on amazon, or maybe those who needs to use exchanges to withdraw their bitcoin's earnings to banks accounts or to debit cards would be able to purchase more easy. But obviously this is probably a fake new, but it would be amazing if this happens for real, because that will mean that bitcoin is being very succesfull.

It's just a rumor and nothing more than that at the moment but yes of course if Amazon ever starts accepting bitcoins that would really be a good decision by the company which would benefit both the bitcoin users and the company itself.

I don't find it like a super new because all progressive people will invest in future - bitcoin this is future and block chain - future. All successful people take some risk and invest not in things is relevant right now they invest in new technology and etc. Amazon on right way if this is not a fake news. If someday I will have such  opportunity then I will invest  in all related with  precious metals, mineral, health, real estate etc in direction  of China and Russia.

This month Amazon just bought domains thats has Bitcoin on its name like www.Amazonbitcoin.com, AmazonCryopto.com etc. but october has passed but I think they're not yet ready for integrate their online market to accept Bitcoin as payment. Maybe later this year or next but not only Amazon are planning to implement this kind of transaction or payment mode to accept payment from their customers for their products. But would likely a good strategy for every online markets.

I think it can be in the near future :)). Bitcoin is accepted in some schools and universities all over the world although Bitcoin is not well known and legalized in these countries so I think Amazon and all other online market will going to accept Bitcoin for payment cause the number of customer want to pay via Bitcoin is really huge it'll help their business become better. Beside it'll be a big move and it'll help Bitcoin become more popular all over the world.
