Title: Bitcoin cash or Bitcoin gold?
Post by: pixie85 on October 04, 2017, 07:13:01 PM
Which of these two is going to fetch higher prices? What do you guys think?
BCC has failed to get high enough to be called a real contender. Will the new one beat it and get closer to dethroning the king?

No, "Bitcoin gold" does not have 1 MB block limit. It is same as Segwit2X.

Maybe 1 MB limit +  Equihash (POW) will be new Bitcoin.

do either have a future? the fact that gold is aiming at gpu mining maybe makes it a more attractive proposition, but it doesn't have daddy bitmain keeping it alive. hopefully all forks will dwindle to nothing and it'll be nothing more than a worthless phase that's best forgotten.

BCC was a total failure, thanks to the chinese market manipulators, it still have a value. Otherwise it would die instantly in 3-4 days. Bitcoin gold will be more stronger probably because it's an hard fork. This can bring another adventure to the market, but I don't think it will be threat for BTC!

Well, all I could say is that we can still welcome a new altcoin anyway so why not BitcoinGold? Seriously, however, I think we are starting to be that big joke with the introduction of yet another spin-off (if that is the correct term) from Bitcoin and I am hoping that this second one can be the last for at least 5 or 10 years.

I am not against BitcoinGold though because it mean I can have some free coins into my account. But am concerned about the long-term viability of both coins. Though am sure nothing can ever kill Bitcoin (that is for now). BitcoinGold will not be a big threat to Bitcoin and I believe it is even the other way around.

i think bitcoin gold first then bitcoin cash.
BTG first because it will be released soon and then because it is new and also it is going to be mineable a lot of people may go there to start mining it and with it start to hype and then pump it up.
but BCH next because of all the drama that may start for bitcoin and the cash people are known to be parasites using bitcoin FUD to their advantage to pump their altcoin.

I don`t see the difference between bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold, and i don`t want to compare them, because they are similar. They are both created by Segwit2x haters(BTG will be created in the near future).Their devs and miners will get some short term profits from pump and dump ,but the bad thing is that we will have to deal with a hard fork every 2-3 months. It`s starts to look like some sort of a blackhat business.

BCC practically failed in the eyes of many, including many of their backers. It's hard to see how Bitcoin gold will be much different. I think regardless of which one you're looking at, neither will be as useful as bitcoin in the new future. Bitcoin is blasting off for a reason; we'll see if any altcoins can even come close.

BCC will fail. BCC price driving force is in China. They did not anticipate that their government will pull the plug on them. Bitcoin gold might have a better future.

Both aren't promising and won't last very long in my opinion. Not good long term investment.
But since you asked what would be better, I would go with Bitcoin Cash, at least it is already something, not a promise that there is no way to know how will be fulfilled

Are you dumb bruh?  BITCOIN CASH has been way more successful than people thought it would be, hell people thought that if they keep on dumping the price will never cross 10$,well look at it's price. Well the credit goes to Bitmain and antminer, bitmain supported BCC and antminer helped miners to switch between BCC and BTC to get profits. If thats not successful for ya, then I don't know what is. Bitcoin gold, I don't know much about it but the name suggests that it will go to 300$ at least in like 6 months.

Both BCC and bitcoin gold will not hold good price, BCC price can be considered as quite significant even after the huge dump it have after a fork but I don't think there is enough support for bitcoin gold or whatever, it might struggle to even get $100 per coin after split.

Well A lot here sure is not accepting the new bitcoin Altcoins at all but I think bitcoin gold will be a helping hand to bitcoin it will surely exist as a friend and not a foe, a sure dividend to bitcoin but let's just wait on what will happen in the upcoming Hard Fork if were gonna see some equality or contender for Bitcoin because it is not easy to predict if this new coin will be the same as Bitcoin Cash or a new one to have an eyes on.

I think it would be the bitcoin cash which will gain more speed in price growth then bitcoin . Since the growth of the bitcoin is more better then for the bitcoin cash but here we can see bitcoin cash have something different concept that bitcoin Don't have .
Here bitcoin cash have the same no. Of the coins that bitcoin have but here the thing that is different is the double the size of the block then what the bitcoin have , so ofcourse here bitcoin cash is going to have handle condition for the bulk transaction than what the potential bitcoin have to handle , so due to this reason not only people in the future will attract toward bitcoin but the miners are also going toward the bitcoin cash mining .
Here both of the coins are from the same team , so we can expect that both of them are better but new one cash is more better .

lol bitcoin cash and bitcoin have different concept it's such an obvious thing because that's the main of reason why there's HF and why bitcoin cash created, plase take a look on the history of bitcoin's hardfork back then.
bitcoin cash exist for Bitcoin unlimited supporter, bitcoin continue with the implementation of segwit.

Between Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold the most promising to fetch higher prices in my opinion is the Bitcoin Gold. Give them three to five years in circulation before we can determine which of these two can compete the Bitcoin. But, Bitcoin Gold was developed to compete for the Bitcoin Cash rather than to Bitcoin.

You posted this thread in wrong section. It should be moved to 'altcoin speculation'.Now to your question none of these altcoins can be compared with bitcoin and they never will come close to bitcoin(in terms of price).I think Bcash will keep going as it is forever if not dead soon.Bgold has not support from major parties and doesn't have a future.I will dump that at any price i get as soon it hits the exchange.  ;D

As Bitcoin gets gold in exchange if you say that it is not supported? Who's gonna pay? I'm generally skeptical of coins that are handed out for free. A new project which begins with loss is not practical. I am sure that not only are these altcoins but all the rest will never be closer in price and popularity to bitcoin.

Well for me it will both of them will result same since they are just  fork and we already experience what happen in bitcoin cash expect that bitcoin gold also will  same movement people who received bitcoin gold will  sell after claim their bitcoin gold the same what happen from bitcoin cash..
Since the first fork is not  success i think bitcoin gold will be also not success but the value after release will much higher than bitcoin cash since its new  release and expect that bitcoin price will increase because other miners will transfer to mine bitcoin gold for beta test and if can be more profitable than bitcoin or bitcoin cash. .

To be honest I didn't read nothing about bitcoin gold, I saw it will be at the end of October and that's it. I opened this topic to see what people think about bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold and your comment is most interesting. Is it possible that we will be able to mine bitcoin gold with GPU? I think this is very interesting, maybe bitcoin gold doesn't have bitmain as daddy but many people missed that time when mining bitcoin was possible with GPUs, including me, and now we will have a chance with bitcoin gold.
I admit that this is interesting and in already thinking can I do it, there are many people who will try this. This move can make things interesting, I will search more about this I'm very curious now.

The hype created for Bitcoin Gold is just like Bitcoin Cash in the past, most probably Bitcoin Gold will also going to fail like BCC.
It seems that Bitcoin Gold will not even reach close to the Bitcoin Cash, so how it would be able to get closer to the pioneer of cryptocurrencies "Bitcoin".

When bitcoin cash only had to appear on the market, it is also predicted death. This did not happen. I don't see much success but the fact that this coin exists on the market so far is already a success. Perhaps the same fate awaits bitcoin gold. Only time will tell.

BCH managed to get to half a bitcoin when it started off and the price dumped because of those free coins as well as zero interest pf people in it except to make some money out of it while they could. But it's still holding a remarkable value currently and surviving too, so underestimating it for whatever reasons would be foolish. Bitcoin Gold's protocol will be different and they are not planning to give any free coins after the release, so whatever it will gain against btc will solely depend on the efforts of miners and the community's acceptance.

It's hard to predict. The regulator's eyes don't see the big picture. If they focus their attention on BTC and work hard enough they will be able to slow down its progress for a while. I'm not saying destroy it because it's not possible, but we could stay in the $4k range for a year or two. If that were to happen people might start seeing opportunities in alternative currencies like BTG. BCC/BCH will never get fat, but BTG might get to something like 50% of current BTC value. It depends on the political situation.

That's true in a way but one could argue that both of these coins could directly influence the value of Bitcoin. The holders of Bitcoin are getting it for free so if there's a lot of interest in these coins it could create an outflow of funds from Bitcoin. On the other hand if they fail and get sold quickly the investors could turn their profits into original Bitcoin pumping its price.
If we look at BCC, it was supposed to be dumped immediately after being added to exchanges but it wasn't. It lost only half of its starting value, which is good and bad depending on how you look at it.

yes. that's the whole point of it i believe.

you realise there's an existing gpu friendly bitcoin fork that's been around for a while? i dunno what the score is with how profitable mining it is but there's also an airdrop with coins waiting for every bitcoin holder.

They both are forked coins, and there is no future for both, as you can see, the same happened to bitcoin cash, a lot of people were speculating about that it was going to be more expensive than bitcoin, but it is below $400 each one right now, and there were a lot of people who dumped their btc in order to buy bch.
And with bitcoin gold it is going to happen the same, i am only going to dump them a few minutes after that i receive them.

Agree with that, so far never see HF coin that's more succesfull than the original coin itself, for example, Ethereum classic, bitcoin cash, and now bitcoin gold will be a failure too.
the price of HF coin will always below the original coin and that's why hardfork is such a waste of time.

The only way I will not dump BTG as fast as possible is if it become the copy of ORIGINAL Bitcoin with only simple change in POW. If they keep small block and replace POW from SHA-256 to Equihash then I will be happy to HOLD it.

I'm not sure about it, bitcoin cash has gained good popularity through the splitting from the main chain of the bitcoin. Also it has got an increased price making it popular. Right now bitcoin gold is all about an altcoin which seems to be pumping and this can be a fake pumping to attract the investors. So its good to go through the entire growth chart and decide the right pick.

Bitcoin should neither be converted as gold or cash it should be left as it is now which is digital currency that's why bitcoin is unique because once it is converted into gold or cash then government authority will have control over it unless digital currency so I feel bitcoin will lose it's value of converted into gold or cash.

It should be really but we have different cases that's why I can't even push to recommend to other people to hold still our btc since there are people who really not a holder since there mindset are just get btc and dump into cash since they where afraid for the flactuation unto it. And if the case that all people will hold until then we will not surely be surprise if the pump will go insane with the btc.

Bitcoin gold might have a better chance of having a greater value than bitcoin cash but it will never dethrone bitcoin. Bitcoin cash was really a failure and from its pricing I don't think in will rise up that much. It is only my speculation but hyping bitcoin gold like bitcoin cash will only leave the same impression to it.

This kinda difficult but I prefer bitcoin gold. I haven't experience about bitcoin gold but I'm trying to figure out and familiarizing things on this. If it really does a great job in investment, why not. As long as bitcoin always surrounds that would only mean that it will be still profitable in accordance with the economic rate that is developing for many years to come in a particular country. We all know that we have different system in our economy so let's help one another for a better future coming.

Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold will become the failure project soon, I do not think these clone coin from Bitcoin original will have good future. Only fork from Bitcoin original, Bitcoin Cash can has a value higher than other altcoin need to mining as Monero, Dash or Ethereum many much.

Bitcoin should neither be converted as gold or cash it should be left as it is now which is digital currency that's why bitcoin is unique because once it is converted into gold or cash then government authority will have control over it unless digital currency so I feel bitcoin will lose it's value of converted into gold or cash.
You haven't read the question, but you're trying to answer anyway. You got confused, it's not about converting bitcoin to gold or cash (physical items), but about comparing it to forked altcoins (bitcoin gold and bitcoin cash). Converting it to one of them would still cause it to remain a digital currency :D

Which of these two is going to fetch higher prices? What do you guys think?
BCC has failed to get high enough to be called a real contender. Will the new one beat it and get closer to dethroning the king?

Based on current happenings, I would still put my bets on bitcoin because going forward I see BCH receiving much more downward trend because the moment we see another fork, I see BCH being abandoned to take on the next fork and the reason for that is because they are riding on the popularity of bitcoin without creating their own niche or developing in their own pace. Bitcoin will still generate higher price than any of the forks.

Yes i agree with a lot of users in here, bitcoin cash was a fail.. And i think that the same is going to happen to bitcoin gold, because we all know that those coins who came from a fork are only created to be dumped by those who receive them for free.. This is what i am going to do of course, but 7 of 10 are probably going to do the same.. Just lets see what happens in the next weeks, we will notice some news about it and how it is going to work.

We already see bitcoin cash can't compete with bitcoin maybe bitcoin gold can be worse than that because they give bitcoin gold bigger than bitcoin cash give to us. that's just my opinion because i still not get information about them.

Well if I will have to think of those two currency being mentioned I had no intentions of seeking opportunity on investment for that. All I have to focus on is really with bitcoin same as yours buddy, all profitable means of hardwork is purely with btc as holding it will give us benefit in the future.

"Dethroned the king:bitcoin core" I think we can not really achieved that because when bitcoin cash was introduced in august and since then we have been seeing bitcoin pumping up and  bitcoin gold will not make any difference. Splitting is not the best way to bring bitcoin core down reither we get strength from split since it was not done in good objective. We should see bitcoin gold as another bitcoin unlimited or bitcoin cash as the same people are behind it.

It seems to me that this coin will not be popular. Bitcoin Cash was very loudly advertised. But he did not become a competitor to the bitcoin original. So we do not need to be afraid of the coming fork. We need to be confident in our investment in bitcoin

Bitcoin gold has not even forked, so it's would be too soon to talk about its price, the initial price after forking will matter a lot. On the other hand BCH is somewhat become a mildly popular altcoin, that what it is, nothing more. I'm not expecting BCH to reach some tremendous heights but yeah it might gradually increase if it maintains its popularity.

Bit early to say that bitcoin cash failed isn't it? Or do you mean failed to be number 1 crypto instantly? Number 4 on marketcap is pretty huge or at least respectable.

I don't know much about bitcoin gold but I think its value proposition is not as strong as bitcoin cash. Bitcoin gold is just another segwit coin with a new mining algo. Bitcoin cash is a different breed entirely, snubbing the offchain route in order to scale onchain. Long term I like bitcoin cash better.

The number king is bitcoin and still in the next few years.

if you were to choose among the two, bitcoin cash or bitcoin gold, i think you would rather have both, since both cryptocurrencies are promising, and also since they came out because of bitcoin, it only means that bitcoin still is the best cryptocurrency, i think the two are just a bonus, since we trusted bitcoin, in other words, it can be said that it is like dividends when it comes to the stock market, but it is more profitable since the two can still gain a lot, which will give more potential in achieving financial success. i think right now, we cannot still say which among the two is better, since bitcoin gold is not yet produced, however i can say that bitcoin cash is more likely being used when it comes to trading in games, since sokor had used bitcoin cash once it was release, for gaming purposes, however for bitcoin gold, we can still wait on how people are going to use bitcoin gold, still all of this will not happen if it wasn't for bitcoin itself.

I think backing bitcoin cash will make much more sense, but if you are in it for profit basis then backing bitcoin gold will make much more sense as bitcoin cash have already got attention for being more profitable than bitcoins quiet a few times die to which bitcoin price have also fallen too. But bitcoin gold is a new fork of bitcoin and right now it is quiet difficult to judge that whether it would be a good investment or just another shit coin, if the latter than I would be very disappointed as I have arranged a few sources from which I have made a deal for getting bitcoin gold.

It failed to achieve significant prices, so it's not popular among investors. Market cap doesn't mean a thing because it has been airdropped to the users of the most popular cryptocoin and not all of them even redeemed their coins. For instance unused addresses, like Satoshi's, got their equivalent in BCC that never reached exchanges and most likely never will. If every BCC owner were to redeem it the price would be much lower than it is.

I personally have no experience of bitcoin cash therefore I cannot say anything so sure about it, but still my own opinion is that bitcoin is the best and it will remain as on top for ever, no bitcoin cash or bitcoin gold or any other crypto currency can take its place, and hope that it will remain as number one for a long long time.

I'll still stick with the original bitcoin. The only good thing is that it can be mined with GPU computers as opposed to Bitcoin Cash which the Chinese still monopolize. So Bitcoin Gold  can keep the mining process more decentralized. However, the new network doesn't have protection for replay attack. So that's a lot of doubt around Bitcoin Gold is they will be successful in the future. So not to make things complicated on my end, I will just stick to bitcoin until I see either one of the two gain traction from the community(which I doubt). Let's see how will this evolved when everything settles after Oct. 25.

I got some BitcoinCash (BCH) after the August fork and now am expecting to get some also after the coming scheduled hard fork hitting us for another split making the birth of Bitcoin Gold possible. I love the name Bitcoin Gold but it never negated the fact that it would also just be another altcoin like BCH and there is a possibility that it can be suffering the same fate.

However, I always believe that in the sea of many coins and tokens we have, there is always a big space for a new altcoin but of course, nobody can guarantee of its success. At the end of the day, it will always be Bitcoin which is the first and the original to be bringing home the bacon for all of us.

Now am wondering: Is Bitcoin Gold worthy to hodl or should we just sell them immediately for Bitcoin?

Half a Bitcoin? When? Are we even talking about the same currency or maybe you have trouble reading the charts?
It's highest price ever was around 0.28BTC That's less than a third of a bitcoin! Now it's at its lows of 0.06. A coin that can't even reach 10% of Bitcoin in value with similar supply can't really be called significant when compared to it.

I do not really see it amounting to anything much and it is not even getting as much recognition as BCC had which probably will even make it much shitty. Our main concentration should even be more on core and segwit2x.

Bitcoin gold is relatively new in this race hence we cannot expect it to beat bitcoin cash for time being. But the trend does not need to be same all the times.

do either have a future? the fact that gold is aiming at gpu mining maybe makes it a more attractive proposition, but it doesn't have daddy bitmain keeping it alive. hopefully all forks will dwindle to nothing and it'll be nothing more than a worthless phase that's best forgotten.

That fact you stated is what will make BTG more successful than BCH right off the bat. With Bitcoin Cash, there really weren't too many people aware and there weren't a lot of backers. For Gold, however, miners are targeted and that's a major part of the Bitcoin market anyway. Besides both of the coins, Bitcoin will prevail.

BCC will fail. BCC price driving force is in China. They did not anticipate that their government will pull the plug on them. Bitcoin gold might have a better future.

That is what they want you to think, so you dump your BCH at fire-sale prices.

Chinese government and Bitmain are likely working closely together on increasing their share of The Real Bitcoin pie (http://archive.is/yPH9c). Perhaps China will open the floodgates again when they are ready after all the fools have sold.

Have any of you ever played poker.

SegWit is an insecure altcoin, which will be stolen and discarded.

Bitcoin gold is some nonsense about ASIC resistance, which can’t exist. Equihash has been analysed.

All the forks of The Real Bitcoin (aka BTCSatoshi not BTCSegWit) will probably die eventually. Immutability of Bitcoin is golden. Everything else rusts.

You can flush both down the crapper quite simply because they are 'Chinese' driven.

Sure, most altcoins/tokens don't have any real value. Most are little more than clones of Bitcoin or Ethereum, or outright securities with no value as "cryptocurrencies." I think there are only about a dozen or so coins that bring real innovation and may have long term value. But people on this forum are interested in speculative value, as in "how much higher can I dump this?" Altcoins have always been a game of greater fools.

The problem with ETH is that it already had a completely insane rally this year, which blew Bitcoin's gains out of the water. It's quite possible that distribution occurred and it's in for a long term bear market (at least the ETHBTC pair, which is all that matters).

Whether it's bitcoin cash or bitcoin gold or something else, bitcoin will always dominate the entire digital currency community. It's all about the long lasting and the capital market growth. Compared to any other altcoins, bitcoin holds the increased capital market. Same will continue as the price can't be compared with any other assets.

Title: Re: Bitcoin cash or Bitcoin gold?

I think both of them will don't have any value because they are just Bitcoin clones

Then SegWit has no value also because it is just a clone with some insecure scaling shit that will crash and burn. But are you holding SegWit lineage or real BTC protocol tokens? Do you even know? Just saying “BTC” is meaningless if you do not know the lineage of your tokens. SegWit lineage tokens can be hypothetically double-spent at any time in the future by miners.

But if you need to take profits on BTC at some nosebleed prices, what token will you buy? I would buy the one that is at ATL not one that is near an ATH.

Given all the uncertainty that could exist as to what BTC really is (is it SegWit, SegWit2x, or Satoshi protocol?), seems to me that a token which is entirely separated but essentially a Bitcoin clone with a scaling solution, may catch a bid as BTC moves to levels where some traders want to take some profits and buy something that is low so they can sell high.

Now imagine an attack on SegWit begins (by Bitmain?) to steal all the SegWit transactions and gains support because the booty will be shared with other miners. Wouldn’t there be a stampede to buy BCH? Why would they buy Bitcoin gold which is entirely unproven with a new PoW that has no mining cartel support. If you want Bitcoin gold, why not buy Monero instead then you get a GPU mined coin (for now) and some degree of anonymity as well. Also Monero has an algorithmically scaling block size and active ongoing development (albeit somewhat slow perhaps). So you just buying the name and hype of Bitcoin gold with Equihash.

Afaics, BCH is the only one that is unique. It has the support of the mining cartel who might end up being the one who capitalizes on the SegWit booty. And it is at an ATL. And BTC is moving towards a nosebleed phase transition ATH.

But maybe I am wrong and BCH will be scorned and has no utility as a trading vehicle. Then why does LTC catch a bid? Perhaps LTC has been around longer, more active development?

I had high hopes with bitcoin cash, the price did go to like some 600-700$

I sold at $800s. I expected it to decline. I bought more at $350. Probably premature. I should have waited for $240 - $290. But I was overworking, sleepless when I made that decision, so I was not as clear thinking as now.

I don’t have very high hopes for it. I’m not expecting it to take over and become the real Bitcoin. I am expecting another trade up to maybe $1000 to $1500, presuming the entire market does not collapse and traders take profits on BTC and want to trade into something undervalued.

I view BCH more as a safe haven away from attacks that could come on SegWit. And as a trading vehicle for profit taking on BTC. And as the only BTC clone airdrop with any legitimacy at all, given Bitmain’s support. And given that if anyone was going to attack SegWit with a mining attack, I would think Bitmain might be the one with such a scheme up their sleeve.

bch will continue to exist, we can not compare with Bitcoingold because it has not appeared, if more stable than bch then the bad possibilities are definitely there. I think bch will continue to innovate and increase value. We can see it with blockchain that began to welcome its existence.

Also it is one the few coins that can still trade on ShapeShift. ShapeShift has been purging many of the ICOs tokens ostensibly due to securities regulation concerns.

We are talking about bitcoin cash and gold which both of them are useless coin or just to be the dividend to the bitcoin hodlers. Bitcoin still dominate everything in this time.

I think bitcoin gold will be super cheap.
Many people now again want to receive money like from Bitcoin Cash. But second time freebie not possible.

As far as I know the bitcoin gold is just another way for the miner to gain more income. . . just like what happened to bitcoin cash.

The fact that miners didn't prioritize bitcoin cash like their not interested to it, maybe bitcoin cash had been dumping since then. But this bitcoin gold, I'll definitely await for it and I'm holding my btc now so I can have it when hard fork happens.

I'm sorry to said that: Bitcoin Gold is a joke.
Don't have support from: Wallets, Exchanges, Replay protection ....

Shhh. Don’t speak so loudly. The sheep might wake up.

The fact that miners didn't prioritize bitcoin cash like their not interested to it, maybe bitcoin cash had been dumping since then.

If you wanted to buy cheaper, wouldn’t you put your mining on BTC first let it peak then move it back to BCH after you have purchased BCH cheaply.

Do any of you guys play poker.

miners expect Bitcoingold to come so bitcoincash falls rapidly.
I think Bitcoincash can not survive for a long time

Bitmain will abandon it  ???  :o

What is your source for that news?

One of the things I learned about investor psychology is that the majority is always dead wrong. With so many comments about the imminent death of BCH, we must be very close to a bottom and new move up.

I think there is a 60-70%+ probability Bitcoin Cash will get a massive boost in November, because of this issue:

If the upcoming segwit2x has problems I think Bitcoin Cash will be interested investors.

Segwit2x and Bitcoin Cash target mostly the same public (big blockers). I believe that Segwit2x will have a hard time to win the fork battle in November. Only if the whole NYA "cartel" keeps supporting it and they can maintain >80% of the hashrate then Segwit2x has a chance against "Bitcoin Core" to become "the Bitcoin".

But if Segwit2x fails to become the "primary" Bitcoin chain, then it will very likely disappear relatively fast. Why? Because it is not really what most Big blockers want. It's a very moderate compromise for them, and if it isn't successful in becoming "the Bitcoin", then Big blockers will very likely support Bitcoin Cash massively.

I view Bitcoin Cash as an experiment and not as a serious Bitcoin competitor. But I still have my "airdrop coins" and will hold them until November because I think it's likely they will appreciate.

And you know this was Bitmain’s plan all along to feign support for SegWit, but kill it in multiple steps.

The first step is yes killing 2x. The NY agreement was always a farce that fails in November. That was part of the plan.

The second step is attacking SegWit (http://archive.is/yPH9c).

Going to be a lot of shocked people around here when BCH hits $1500, just like when someone said buy LTC at $6 and it hit $85.

I'd rather have BCH than BTG if I had to choose. BTG offers no major advantage. I expect $10-100 making the smart decision to just buy the alt coins while super cheap and forfeit the BTG.

Everyone who buys Bitcoin at such high price to get like an extra $10-100 coin will get burned.

Bitcoingold is nothing to do with Segwit2x. Instead it looks like a giant premine scam.

It is not even clear if it will get listed on any exchanges, which will disappoint a bunch of people.

I recommend reading the following thread about why bitcoingold is a scam:

From the point of view of modern economy, any cryptocurrency it is a Scam. Nobody knows what the future of new coins. What if some multi millionaire starts to invest in this coin? If the free coins will be then he will buy them and then trade on the stock exchange with their partners and raise the price. Bitcoin also started with the fact that the price was calculated in cents.

Following quotes are paraphrased to hide identity.

Quote
Possibly BCH could go to ~$1500 after the coinbase dump which may drive it lower.

A contentious HF to steal SegWit txns would be rejected by our community thus is not in long-term interest of the miners. If 51% of the miners can implement any change they want then miners can do anything they want which means community is irrelevant and immutability is non-existent.

When the community decides to support a HF, that is also destroying immutability. But the 51% attack to take already confirmed SegWit donations is not even possible if users do not use a brain dead SegWit wallet which issues “pay to anyone” transactions. It is the creation of SegWit wallets which has enabled a booty to pile up which enables a 51% attack. That is why I said SegWit wallets are a security attack on Bitcoin. Yet you somehow think the drunk-on-koolaid community is important.

Your delusions about community are hilarious. You drink your slave masters’ koolaid.

There is no consensus until the whales have voted. The whales have not voted yet, they’re waiting for the SegWit booty to pile up.

There’s no damn way the whales are going to allow that SegWit crap. Absolutely zero. Blockstream is a gimmick to take BTC from fools who are fooled by the concept of democracy applied to cryptocurrency.

You claim you are for immutability but then you talk out two sides of your mouth in a duplicitous manner.

Are you for immutability or not?

The whales are. Go against them at your peril.

Do you really think those whiny faggots at Blockstream are relevant? The devil at Trilema who loves porn is in control (well he and other whales who hate democracy and love immutability). And you hate it don’t you because he is so immoral? Cryptocurrency is not about any one person’s morals. It is about protocol and game theory. Please. Understand. This.

Quote
No functional difference exists between a contentious hardfork to reverse and steal SegWit and one to just give the miners extra BTC by increasing the limit on the eventual money supply.

There is no hardfork required for miners to take the SegWit donations ongoing. The hardfork is only to collect and double-spend the SegWit that was already confirmed in blocks. But even this “51% attack” is entirely legal in the protocol. A 51% attack is not an illegal outcome. The protocol is a competitive game theory and there is nothing illegal when adhering to the protocol. Not even immoral. Perfectly just.

You do not seem to understand that what ever is legal in the protocol is just and right and good. The law is the protocol, not your wishy-washy ambiguous idea of what the community decided.

The SegWit that is being issued is “pay to anyone”. Miners taking that while conforming to Satoshi’s protocol is not equivalent to mutating the protocol (in Satoshi’s protocol the SegWit transactions are “pay to anyone”). It is entirely within the protocol. Whereas increasing the money supply limit would change the protocol. So you’re incorrect to equate the two as functionally equivalent. One is protocol legal, the other is protocol illegal.

Quote
You view these as functionally distinct presumably because (of an either correct or misplaced) preference for the original BTC implementation but that implementation is no more it was altered via a consensus decision so for better or for worse SegWit is bitcoin now as it was activated with broad if imperfect consensus.

Incorrect. You can’t equate any fork to Satoshi’s protocol because no fork is ever final. This is why only Satoshi’s protocol can ever be the winner. Nothing else has any certain lasting stability. If the community idiotically approves a new protocol which creates a booty to fund a 51% attack, why are they surprised when their consensus is not stable? Lol. Really you’re smarter than this aren’t you.

You fundamentally do not understand that proof-of-work is never final. It is probabilistic. There is never any final community consensus.

You have some basic holes in your understanding of Byzantine systems. There are systems such as Byzantine Agreement which do reach finality but they have a liveness threshold and can stall. Proof-of-work is probabilistic and can never stall (unless there are no miners at all so we can say the liveness threshold is asymptotically ~0), but it is never final. My new decentralized ledger algorithm is also probabilistic but it is not proof-of-work and it is not proof-of-stake. It is something totally new which scales better, can’t be subverted by the whales, and which does not consume electricity.

Quote
If SegWit is critically flawed then BCH will win by simply out competing BTC and BTC will die a slow death gradually with time.

No you fail to understand. The SegWit is going to be removed from BTC by miners taking it as donations, because flies go to honey and miners go to profitability of booties.

BCH is only going to benefit in that while BTC is being attacked, it will be a safe haven. And also for big blockers who do not want to return to 1MB as the SegWit scaling lie is totally obliterated.

Quote
But I have not been convinced that that is going to happen the majority of the talent seems to be backing BTC but I will of course continue to follow this closely.

Lol. Look at the Rube Goldberg machine they’ve created which is all for making donations to the miners and they’ve sold you the users on the idea that it is technological astute.  :D  :D  :D

Quote
You have been more accurate then not with your predictions on price fluctuations so I have learned not to ignore them.

I also told everyone in my private group that BTC would go back up to $5100+ before the alts started moving back up. Which is precisely what happened.

Follow-up discussion excerpted only for the most important parts and also again paraphased to conceal writing style:

Quote
You imply that all non-initial conditions are invalid, despite protocol changes achieved via consensus HFs. What criteria do you apply which allows for past Bitcoin changes that were made and presumably accepted by all of us?

Well in the case of SegWit is very simple. The reality is that SegWit creates a booty that incentivizes (funds!) a 51% attack. The Bitcoin whitepaper states the security assumption that miners will not have the private keys to most transactions otherwise the security is destroyed. So SegWit is a direct attack on Bitcoin’s original security model.

Other bug fixes to Bitcoin which were apparently accepted by The Real Bitcoin, apparently improved security not weakened it.

My stance is that any other changes are altcoins and should not be marketed as Bitcoin. If we want to improve a cryptocurrency then airdrop it and fork it. But name it something else. Do not cheat like Blockstream did and force a contentious fight which to some extent arguably stalled the entire sector for 2 years.

Cryptocurrencies that have ongoing developers (and able to be exchanged for other currencies not just spent on goods & services so thus having an expectation of capital appreciation) are securities and have to be regulated. See the new SAFT whitepaper which I recently analysed for more on that.

Quote
A 51% attack on either the initial protocol or a subsequent protocol achieved by HF are functionally equivalent.

If the initial protocol has not been designed to be secure against 51% attacks, then its not viable. And this is why I explained recently at the inception of this discussion about SegWit, that long-term proof-of-work is not viable.

My point is that the ability of the community to HF is design flaw of proof-of-work. And it will get worse as transaction fees rise relative to block rewards, for the game theory research reasons I recently shared.

Quote
Your distinction seems to be an arbitrary value judgement.

SegWit was a HF. Any fork which continues where SegWit forked off, is Satoshi’s protocol. So the former is an altcoin and the latter is Bitcoin.

Actually afaik the “pay to anyone” aspect of SegWit is compatible with Satoshi’s protocol (and allows the miners to take them as donations) and thus really any fork containing SegWit transactions is not a HF, except that SegWit also included other changes which required a HF. In any case, a fork which accepts SegWit transactions as donations is not a fork of Satoshi. Thus no HF ever occurred. SegWit is the only HF here in this case.

Any HF which funds and basically forces economically returning to the former protocol is self-defeating and responsible for its own demise.

So the objectivity here is that the possibility of HFs remove all objectivity. Thus the ability of 51% attacks creates subjectivity and thus the only objective solution is that all HFs should be considered altcoins. No anointing by politics. All dispute is solved economically in free markets when all HFs compete against each other as altcoins.

Any one who wants to create new functionality can airdrop to an altcoin or create an altcoin with an entirely new distribution.

Otherwise all we have is discord. Creating altcoins enables the market to vote with its money. Nobody should be anointed except by the market. Blockstream employed deception and other tactics to try to subvert the free market process, but they are going to have their heads handed to them on a silver platter as they deserve for their inept and corrupt malfeasance.

The free market works.

Quote
Regarding immutability my current thinking is that the protocol will gradually move to immutability over time as consensus for change becomes harder to achieve.

True only because Rube Goldberg machines self-destruct.

In software adding complexity can never be slowed down (it is like a snowball that requires more and more fixes and changes) except by extricating the cancer. So your assumption was misplaced on the face of it, but you’re rescued by the fact that complexity bloat is complete failure in software engineering and will thus cause immutability by self-destruction.

Told you so:

Block segregation will increase the price like last time but mostly everyone dump in that chart.

Bitcoin will still stay the stronger contender above anything else after a Fork and future Forks because a copy cat will always be see as a duplicate no matter what and with that being said investors will also hesitate in supporting the other Bitcoin's altcoin because it is just a product of a split and some of them are only getting the airdrop or free dollars with that Bitcoin Gold.

Dethroning the king requires a massive power and if Bitcoin's Gold offers a much more competitive and strong characteristics that attracts people to invest then there is a possibility and if not then it is just like an another Bitcoin Cash.

No need to flush them! They are cows and all we need do is to go ahead and milk them all we can and feed Bitcoin fat, as simple as that! that is because there are different kinds of fork.
- some that threaten bitcoin and can cause issues for the whole network. like the bitcoin cash fork which took some part of the bitcoin hashrate temporarily and caused some delays in finding the blocks. if they could keep the price up, hashrate may have came and gone and caused a lot of issues. there was 2 days that BCH miners were finding thousands of blocks per day instead of normal 144! LOL
- some forks are obviously useless. like bitcoin gold, or other forks that do airdrops like bitcore. nobody cares bout these, they can not harm bitcoin and people are excited because they get free money!

No, bitcoin cash has more support not only from the miners but from some members of the community, this bitcoin gold fork does not bring anything new to the table, it is just the same old bitcoin with a different mining algorithm, at least the direction that bitcoin cash took was different, bigger blocks and no segwit with all scaling on the blockchain.

Sure, there is a real mining monopoly already going on but 2x will only give them more chance to centralize the whole system for their benefit. Core still remains and all these forked thugs will only end up in the gutter.

Although bitcoin gold have a more sensible idea but we still can not say they will succeed, do you remember the moments after the launch of bitcoincash. are not they look very promising even bitcoincash prices continue to increase. I would rather advise you to invest in bitcoin than the above two options even though there is news after the price fork will drop the possibility only for a while because the bitcoin market is now very big.

And it's way more convenient if we just put money on bitcoin because after all, the quantity of bitcoin will be just the same of how much quantity of bitcoingold will be distributed for every user. Don't treat this coin as long term. Look at BitcoinCash, it was being profitable because of hype and now having a silent volume everyday. Bitcoingold will suffer the same experience.

People adding more quantity of bitcoingold today just to take advantage of the hype and that was I see the only purpose.

Which of these two is going to fetch higher prices? What do you guys think?
BCC has failed to get high enough to be called a real contender. Will the new one beat it and get closer to dethroning the king?
No, bitcoin gold is also not enough convincing to dethroning the king, I am eagerly waiting for it just because I will be getting free bitcoins out of it by selling the bit gold on the first exchange it gets listed. But surely a lot of people are excited about it and also support the project.

The fact is that if you start the process of creating Bitcoin in cash, then the entire meaning and advantages of the coin as a crypto currency will be lost. To date, it is the Bitcoin digital coin that has a Huge potential and a great advantage among all currencies. But what will happen to the gold Bitcoin we'll see.
I predict the price of Bitcoin Gold will be below $100 after listed on any exchange, even its value can worse than my prediction. I do not think we will see a Bitcoin Cash version 2.0 in today. Most of the traders are affected by the FOMO of this coin and made the price of Bitcoin increased to high value as now.

For me I think bitcoin gold is better than the bitcoin cash. In my own opinion I see the people here in this forum they are toy agree with the bitcoin gold. I hope bitcoin gold willl increase more in the future so you can make a lot of profit in the future.. More bitcoin gold that you have more chances to earn big in the future. I DONT KNOW IF THE BITCOINCASH WILL INCREASE OR NOT but I hope will increase to earn more profit.

Never heard of bitcoin gold so i choose bitcoin cash and i think bitcoin cash is not fail, it just the price is really low if you compare it into bitcoin. I'm not sure bitcoin gold can follow bitcoin cash path. The thing is no one can beat the bitcoin price right now, even bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold or any bitcoin bla bla.
That's right, I also did not hear any information about Bitcoin Cash on October 25th until this week from this forum. It is not like Bitcoin Cash we can know through many exchanges annouce about this event. I do not know this coin can succeed as Bitcoin Cash or not, but if I can receive free coin from my Bitcoin, why do I not try once? ;D

The Bitcoin community use to have fear of forks, that we are now excited and seeing the fork as a continuation of our original investment into Bitcoin is a huge advance in our thinking. Bitcoin can quickly adapt to any threat !

Bitcoin Cash started off with a good rate and the main Bitcoin falling. But as it always turns out to be at last, Bitcoin rose and Bitcoin Cash crashed. For this Bitcoin Gold or whatever, I don’t know about it, it’s still yet to come, so till then.

It seems to me that the matter is not in the name of Bitcoin duplicates, but in how much they will be popular and how they will be used. There are still a lot of proteins in the future, and therefore only a valuable double will bring profit to the user.

I don't know which will be worth more over time, but I don't think either will be worth much (assuming they don't cease to exist, which they might), and they certainly don't look set to challenge BTC.  The older bitcoiners generally seem to be against both of them.  Without that support, I don't think they're going to go anywhere.  Also consider that if either tried to pose a serious challenge to BTC, those that control thousands of bitcoins and thus thousands of bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold could easily crash those markets.

I think bitcoin gold will experience the same thing happen with bitcoin cash since the acceptance for crypto currencies of the market at this point focus on bitcoin I don't think other coin will have a good value today. As for my answer to your question I think it's more likely that Bitcoin Gold will edge the Bitcoin cash because unlike before the number of people who knew about cryptos almost doubled in the last few months so this means there are more opportunity that people will look in bitcoin gold unlike bitcoin cash.

I think both will have similar price rates. we all know that bticoincash and bitcoinhgold are created because of the bitcoin fork. so the rational price may be the same as it is today and I am very confident that bitcoin will persist and also impossible beyond bitcoingold or bitcoincash in the future. whatever happens then Bitcoin will still have its charisma and also its increasing interest in the world of the digital currency. Anyone who knows the digital currency will definitely have a BTC, but those who know the digital currency will not necessarily use bitcoincash or bitcoingold.

I have seen several comments in many site that say Bitcoin gold is scam (https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/757jf4/here_is_why_bitcoingold_is_shady_and_a_scam_you)

Price  btg near 100 usd I expect  dump in the coming days ; for sure  the price of btg  will be lower than bcc

Neither. Bitcoin Cash is still overvalued and Bitcoin Gold started from way below.
In the long run they both will die.

I think your right, both bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold are create due to bitcoin fork, but I think it is not enough reasons to break even the price of both coins. Maybe prices of both coins are closed to each other also, we can't says the real value of this both coins because we can't know how they fluctuates in the market. I suggest to observed first their movement of each coin before invest, to lessen the risk you've been get in these coin.

If someone would told me that I need to choose between bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold I would choose bitcoin cash. Why?
Because bitcoin cash is already stable coin and it is pumped by koreans, it has very strong support, while bitcoin gold has nothing it is not even live, you cannot send any bitcoingold. So if you are lucky enough to have some bitcoin gold on the exchange just sell it and exchange it into bitcoin cash.

Bitcoin gold sounds much more like a sh** coin created by people who want to sell their new hardware made especially for it.

I don't think none of these coins can dethrone the king. Both of these are an altcoin, so most likely these are just another pump and dump altcoin added to the list. But some say Bitcoin Gold would be much pricier than Bitcoin Cash but well see how this goes after a month.

Bitcoins are similar to bitcoin cash, they are money created for the purpose of a group of people, and I'm sure they can not compete with bitcoin, nor can they be compared to bitcoin. They are just the ones altcoin that copy from bitcoin.

Nah, bitcoin and bitcoin cash are not similar with each other and never be the same. Bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold are altcoins and just using the fame of bitcoin name to attract investors. However, I'm more confident to btg than bch, that btg will somehow make a name of its own. Actually, I'm waiting for my btg in my wallet and will hold and observe what will be its fate in crypto world.

Yes, Bitcoin Cash is usually on top 10 of coinmarketcap.com and I think it will last for a long period of time. Regarding Bitcoin Gold, well, it already looks like a failed project. It got no hype and many people are very skeptical about its utility. But let's see for further developments (like new exchanges, wallets, etc.). Maybe the price will go up and we will be able to make money with easiness

so if we compare it between one and another it would be better to choose Bitcoin Cash other than Bitcoin Gold in term of investment.
but if we compare it to Bitcoin itself, nobody can replace it.
so why would we think about Bitcoin Gold,Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin Whatever when we have a Bitcoin itself ?

Bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold both are shitcoin and if I am not wrong, bitcoin cash which was supposed to be the cause of bitcoin abandoning by people actually got itself abandoned after sometime because people realized that nothing is better than bitcoin in this world.

BCC and BCG both are two sides of the same coin and will bleed death in the long term. BCG will decrease BTC price in the beginning but after some time, it will rise up higher than before.

Bitcoin cash has various support from the various ways just like economic support, backer support, and mass adoption. The bitcoin gold is different with the bitcoin cash itself. Lack of support and as per the deve are putting the code about the get the pre-mined token and that makes the bitcoin gold as a shady coin right now. It is no different with another crap pre-mined token just like deeponion or torcoin in my opinion.
