Title: Unsure the best route to start with GPU quantity
Post by: flip4flop on October 06, 2017, 03:58:08 PM
I have been playing around with the profit calculators and reading a ton and I feel I am ready to put a build together.  My question at this point is what would be a better route to start initially. 3x 1060s or 1x 1070 and 1x 1060.   I thought the second option would be better but whattomine is showing me that the 3x 1060 actually earn more per day. It also seems like I can get 3x 1060s for less than I could get a 1070 and 1 1060 for.

Looks like I should be able to put something together for around 1k total and am looking at around .12 kWh for electricity. This would take a little over a year to break even.  This concerns me a little with the volatile market but I think over the long term as long as there are GPU coins out there to mine it should be ok.  Unfortunately, I have no friends who mine or really know much about altcoins at all so any help is much appreciated.

Hello!
Which algorithm did you choose?
For example, 2 x 280/280x give more than one 480/580 in zcash and fork, but of course they consume (Watt) more. But the used ones are the same - 2x280 = 1x480.
The situation with the ETH and forks is different.
The calculations are approximate and serve only as an example.

I had only selected CryptoNight and Equihash to look at the differences originally, they both are deducting electricity cost just found it interesting that the 3x 1060s would pay out more than 1 1060 and 1 1070.  Feel like I must be looking at something wrong.

Always going to be a 2 group of ppl who telling you it's ok go for it , or dont bc you just wasting ur money !
You have to make a decision for yourself !
Do your own research !
No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen with cryptocurrency !
No one can tell you it's going to be profitable for you or not !
No one can tell you how much profit you going to be able to make ! ( if you can make any at all )
No one can tell you the ROI ( return of investment) time !
None of those calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later !
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !

Well, look, judging by this link http://monerobenchmarks.info/, the difference between 1060 and 1070 (I'm considering adequate values) is 100-150 h/s. That is, there is no sense in overpaying for 1070 and you can a little tuned 1060. But the difference with the price is quite noticeable.
The main thing is to take a good PSU, with a margin.
