Title: Suggestion: limit when users can access this subforum
Post by: jenia1 on October 10, 2017, 07:54:29 PM
other forums have a limitation on post count and time since registered before users can access the marketplace. any reason no such thing here?

There is probably a bunch of threads about that in the other sections of the forum.

then they are wrong. imo of course. theres nothing wrong with newbs in other sections. just here. some forums do that and the scam attempts go down quite sharply.

I think in past there was so called newbie jail restricting them to beginner & help section only. Not sure why it was removed.
But as long as newbie (both seller or buyer) will accept the escrow, provide proofs etc. there is no need for such thing IMO.

accepting the escrow is only half of the solution. some of them try to use fraudulent escrows... what then?

Well. I think it's obvious. No deal.

Its been a problem for as long as I've been here, brand new accounts posting non existent stuff for sale and trying to scam.

Funny thing is scammers are lazy now and don't go to any effort, I seem to remember years ago they tried much harder and some were very convincing.

Luckily I dont think many people are naive enough to fall for these recent lame scam attempts so they're just wasting their time.

obvious to you to me and to all the people that responded to this thread thus far it seems. problem is its still not 100%
besides all these scam posts are simply tiring to the eye.. and harm the reputation of this forum

People should know to use escrow. It's posted everywhere and is a very simple process to follow. Other than that I would prefer the current  generation of users who are lazy, than ones that have restrictions on them and plan more accordingly. But it really is common sense to not trust new members and to use escrow regardless of rank.

This forum and the good name of bitcoin will survive all the scams that go on here.  What
is more concerning is the absolutely vacuous content that gets shat out here. And we all know
why that is, and we all know what it looks like.

Nuking the spam threads is a great first step, and hopefully people here have started reporting the
crap posts.  That at least brings them to the attention of the mods, who can actually do something
about them.  Even if you don't get a 100% report rate, just keep reporting them, and hopefully
some of these chronic shit posters will get the bans they so richly deserve.
