Bitcoin in 5 years in terms of price? Most likely definitely a lot higher than where we are right now. Sure, there will be rise and dips, skyrockets and crashes, there definitely will be more FUD(and a lot of it), but at the end of the day the price will always most likely stabilize at some point one way or another after a lot of positive and negative news that may hugely affect the price.

I think bitcoin is currency that is strongest development in the world . And bitcoin will be used popular

I've heard a lot of 'experts' recommend holding Bitcoin as possibly the most important part of a cryptocurrency portfolio. Many people expect Bitcoin to continue to increase in value because it's the most established cryptocurrency and it is designed to be deflationary.

We don't know how much the value will increase every year but we have a historical record that shows very good gains over those 9 years even with all of the volatility.

After 5 year it may happen that bitcoin's value increase to 30-40% anxd also become the currencies in most of the countries like Japan Taiwan USA India. Which helps in easy trading

I think other coins will steal some of the thunder away form Bitcoin in the future as some like Ethereum can do more. But I can still see a 25k - 35k Bitcoin in 5 years time.

In the next five years, there will be a lot of Bitcoin forks, a soft forks, a hard forks, a networks splits ans a chain split but because of this the Bitcoin's value is still high it could reach as high as 50k USD, but it will take a lot of struggles, up and downs. There will be more banning, bashing, take-downs,regulation and any other anti-bitcoin activities but if we are still optimistic bitcoin will still stay strong and keep standing still through  the test of times Bitcoin is the king after all.

Of course the next 5 years bitcoin prices will be higher than current prices and certainly with a population of its users who may have reached 50% of the population in the world, and may already be used as legal financial transactions.

Recently I have become more skeptical about Bitcoin. Not the technology of the blockchain, obviously, but the actual currency itself. See, it is so easy to create a new coin/token these days that almost anyone can do it. Will Bitcoin persevere despite others making better coins already? I mean there are countless coins with better technology than Bitcoin, and it is only getting more so like this by the day. I just don't see how Bitcoin would be able to continue dominating all other coins when it lags behind in practical use.

Bitcoin after 5 years will become very famous all around the world ,why? Because were already in the world of digital ,every form of transaction will go digital in the next years, everyone will accept bitcoin from small to big establishment. If you look at the current price of Bitcoins its seems that It will gain very high price in coming 5 years, I am expecting that Bitcoin will 6000 dollar by the end of 2017 year. China banned bitcoins but I have not seen any impact on Bitcoin. Who knows what happen with Bitcoin in 5 years it is un-predictable.

In my opinion the next 5 years are going to be a rocky ride for Bitcoin. We already have 1000+ Alt coins with some pretty good features, competing with Bitcoin. Bitcoin are getting strong opposition from government backed "Private" Blockchains too, so the adoption will be hampered, if these governments decide to ban or block Bitcoin in favour of these technologies.

Bitcoin opened the Pandora's box for Crypto currencies, but it will not be the strongest coin forever. ^sad^

In next 5 years Bitcoin will keep increasing of course because the total amount of Bitcoin can't be mined out in next few years or maybe 20 years so I think it's the main reason for this increasing. Beside when the unmined amount of Bitcoin decrease of course it also make Bitcoin price rising quickly. I have read in somewhere that the total supply amount of Bitcoin will totally mined out in 2100 so I think we no need to worry till we die :))

Miners had mined the most of the coins and there is only a small part of an available coins in an active circulation. That's why the rate depends on the passive coins keepers appetits much more, than on the mainers possibilities. System itself is build in a such way that miners will mine less and less until zero, cz the value of emission is limited. And the system vitality in the whole will depends on how much it is needed by no-miners. Mining will became unprofitable sooner or later and it'll be unprofitable for market to raise the rate endlessly only for miners holding. So, the bigger and bigger part of facilities will keep those, who are interested in bitcoin like in instrument but not for ditect reward.

I am postive bitcoin will not reach $100k  in the next 5 years, though I believe it will hit around $15k since it is more realistic and very feasible.  With the upcoming update where transaction confirmation will aimed to be instant, Bitcoin will be in mainstream payment system where it will be used to pay goods in almost all countries in the whole world.  With that demand increases and supply such as block reward decreases resulting in demand build up and supply exhaustion making it more valuable and rare.

It will be exciting to watch but I predict tremendous growth of Bitcoin along with other technologies, we're just getting started with better cellphones and maybe in 5 years 5G celluar network will come out and think about how many more internet users will be here in the year 2023 even.

If it will not come across some serious threats like super computer being able to crack the private key of bitcoin address or most of the government being completely against the use of bitcoin and its trading than bitcoin price might rise to above $100k per bitcoin in next 5 years.

Ha ha ha. Yes, I agree with you man... if you would look at it's chart you will notice that the yearly trend is going upwards, always. This year is big for all of us who has been supporting bitcoins for a while, from less than a grand it went up to as high as $5,800. The five year period is a short period of time and I believe Bitcoin will continue to grow. However, as it has gone through, it is certain that at times its price will rise and fall sharply, which is indispensable for any currency. There will still be a lot of bad news about bitcoins or government and banking obstacles but it will still grow because it meets the human needs.

Bitcoin was 4000 last month trying to hit 5000, and when it did it crashed immediately. Now it has finally broken 5000, and its only been a month later. Its rising at astonishing rates. In 5 years, it will be much much more. But the crashes will be just as scary.

Let us even bask and savour this glorious moment of the bitcoin first for now occasioned by the impending fork before looking ahead to five years. In crypto world, three months is donkey years. there are a lot of predictions that Bitcoin will reach to 10k$ in next 6 or 10 months and I'm also agree with it. But for 5 years I'm not sure but I think that Bitcoin can reach to 20 - 30k$ IMO. Although Bitcoin need 9 years from the begin to reach to 5k6$ at this time but only in this year Bitcoin increased from under 800$ to 5k6$ in few months so I think in the next 5 years Bitcoin price will be at least 20 - 30k$, I hope so :D

If what you'r asking is Bitcoin in 5 years how much will it be, then my guess is that Bitcoin will be more profitable by that time and hopefully still keeps on progressing and would reach around $20,000 per Bitcoin. But I think that's just too much to ask.  :D

5 years in the future in my opinion, the price will increase so now has reached 70 million,
the growing need for rising and growing cities we eat will be more expensive bitcoin prices.

I think bitcoin will continue to be a big hit as technology evolves, however having said that, it all depends on how the banks play out and also movements from countries like China.

Five years is a very long time in crypto.
We will see the next halving during that period. The last halving brought us a nice increase of the bitcoin price.
I suppose that the ETFs in the US will be approved as well, and that will lead as well to an increase of the bitcoin price.
In November there will be the first larger fork. Before the BCH fork, the bitcoin price increased. I think we are seeing the same thing right now.

5 years is a lot of time, but by then i hope bitcoin is atleast at 500billion market cap, which would mean 30k dollars or so per bitcoin (and still only 5% of dollars market cap = much room to grow, not even comparing to other fiat currencies).

it's really difficult to predict before 5 years, but I believe that Bitcoin will add more price value that will touch at least 10 times from now. if the current growth will continue then it will be massive price value so that it can be predicted that Bitcoin will be the most valuable tool in the world.

The next five years is going to be a great one for bitcoin and I want to look back at this post and see some of my predictions coming true if not all. Several things  I envisaged happening and would be

1. Bitcoin is nit going anywhere and for the fact that it has survived this long is an indication for that.

2. Regulation is going to be strong in other to sanitize the system but 5 years after they wont still get it right because its bitcoin.

Very long time to go, five years in digital world is like a century.
The price seems to go up very fast but we all know how that can change fast and easily so predictions are not easy to make even for a month, not for a five years.
But I can say that I wish and hope in this time Bitcoin will be fully accepted and the price around 10000$.

So far Bitcoin has risen so much, and that show us that Bitcoin is supported by people all around the world. From that we can say that Bitcoin is here to stay. I think that Bitcoin value will increase a lot in the next 5 years. I would say that 5 times is a bare minimum. I hope that Bitcoin community will solve some problems regarding scalability. Next five years will be very important for bitcoin. When we looked back, bitcoin has made a lots of progress/growth in the last five year. Continuing with the trend, it is hard to imagine where bitcoin will be at five years later if it keeps the leader role in the cryptocurrency/blockchain space. I don't know what will happen to bitcoin in the next 5 years. I'm sure nobody knows. Probably the price will rise because each year will increase the number of users. We are only at the beginning. But I don't want to price him grow so fast. This can have bad consequences in the future. On the next five years, I am seeing the success of bitcoin. Yes it is now already successful because of its very amazing price and very fast climb. But I think it grow more up high. If now it double or triple its user still not all people knows it. Five years from now, almost all people are using it and there will be less or no more people that will hesitate and against digital currency plus the government that will also use and promote it. If to take in view that Bitcoin's price are raising so fast Bitcoin is going to cost 50000$ as minimum in next few years. The demand for crypto-currencies is growing and banning of ICOs and exchangers doesn't stops Bitcoin. I think in next five years Bitcoin and crypto-currencies will become more usual things and more people will know it and will be in that world. I expect to see crypto-currencies regulation by countries, everything is going to be managed so to crypto wouldn't use for criminal activity.

                 If we look at it, honestly we can actually witness the future and its potential. In short it will be increasing, in demand, and future for all of us and considered as a future currency, but there is no guarantee for all of that, we can dream for it in advance or for the future but there is no assurance to it, and better if we do not assume for it so much, but we just keep on going on.

In the span of 5 years, I believe bitcoin to more stronger and powerful than ever before. The prices would be touching the sky establishing new ATHs making it more sustainable. Also, it would be legalized in many of the nations and undergo many transformations for its betterment since its demand and popularity among people will be kept on increasing...The time will be a boon for the traders and render them a huge amount of profit.

For me aside from the obvious rise of the value I could surely say that more countries will accept and not accept the bitcoin, the first one would be for the reason that they would not want their country to left behind the ride, the latter one's are very frightful that this technology will eventually control their economical status especially the value of their fiat currency.

Five years from now, Bitcoin will be the king of digital currency (right now I consider the bitcoins as the crowned prince). It's demand will definitely increase and its market value will grow. On 09 Jul 2017 Bitcoin traded at low of $1883 , as on date it is trading at (14 Oct 2017), The least priced as per my opinion is $25000 to $30,000 .

Yes I agree 5 years is a very long duration for predicting about anything. We never know what's going to be happen in the next moment but predictions are always done with keeping in mind the present situation and the upcoming events. I find it very hard to believe that Bitcoin will be the main currency of the world, especially when you take into consideration that people mainly use it as an investment and store of value tool.

I see Bitcoin more as something that shares a lot similarities with gold, and for that reason think it will be an asset that fits in that category rather than a proper currency tool being used in the way fiat is being used.

Bitcoin is superior to gold in basically every aspect, expect for the fact that gold in physical form can be used/spent even in offline situations ~ this is the only thing making gold at least somewhat different.

I agree to his explanation. Based on the historical graph especially in the 5 years run, Bitcoin has proved that it can really spike up and become the number one cryptocurrency. Aside from the price value increase it made, there are also external factors that could really bring it down but it still remained. Example is the banning of Chinese government, which really proves that with that big news, Bitcoin can survive and Bitcoin will recover. It did not even have that much of an effect.

For the next 5 years of the bitcoin, I consider that bitcoin will be legalized in some country and bitcoin users’ growing. The value of the bitcoin is higher and I think that all business or any store sounding will accept the bitcoin as a payment. No one can stop the bitcoin as a new currency.

Well, that definitely explains it. I mean, before bitcoin's price used to be only around less than $100 but due to its exposure to the world, it skyrocketed its price until today reaching the $6000 mark. It might be very difficult to predict its price 5 years from now because of its volatile nature, but judging from the historical price charts, I would say that it might reach the $10,000 mark soon ASSUMING that there will be no hard forks, or ICO prohibitions happening (which I think is impossible and inevitable). With all that said, just hold on to your coins if you aim for investing it for long term.

Upcoming five years will be very big historical years for bitcoin. The reason is that the world as well the bitcoin network is looking upon 2020 as a milestone which is gonna make a big change as a whole. Possibly everything takes place in a better way supporting the digital growth.

Bitcoin price is hard to predict because they have possible the price decrease or increase. But i think the price of bitcoin after 5 years is 10k dollars upt 20k dollars thats only my prediction. And I hope it will happen so we can make a lot of profit. But for sure many business and many peoplw using bitcoin on that year. More investor to come witb bitcoin so the price will continue to increase.

Five years later, I think bitcoin will survive and it will be more popular in social medias and more countries will accept it as legal because it contains many advantages to mention.Though I am not good of guessing but I that could be possibly happened. By next five years, bitcoin might have more investors whose interested to invest and its price will rise more than of its current price and maybe I have my bitcoin on that time.

Bitcoin is not the first cryptocurrency in the cryptocurrency world, but it is the first project can succeed after released. You can research again the history of the cryptocurrency world, it can find easily through Google and I do not think you need to spend much time for that.

No doubt there will still be some pretty huge fights from some countries who still do not want to accept but once they see themselves, lagging behind, the whole story would change and we will see a lot of them coming back to their senses and learning from other countries.

15k seems low for 5 years from now. It should be around 100k by 2027~2030 if we compare the performance to other tech indices, so 20-50k seems doable in a 5 year span.

Just the Chinese government decided to banned the ICO market, most of the traders had worried and dumped the price of Bitcoin to below $3,000. I follow chandlerguo on twitter and he says that each person must have at least 1 BTC, and don't wait too long to buy, because the price tends to rise, consequently it will become more difficult to buy 1 unit. But as the number of bitcoin users are increasing from time to time therefore we can predict that bitcoin will continue growing even after 5 years. More countries will regulate exchanges and bitcoin, which will be good because that normalizes it with the masses.
At least several more countries will make a legal currency like Japan did this year.

Eg who will dev your chain....? will there be as many top devs interested in your chain as BTC? Will exchanges decide to implements it?

If the situation you described that I bolded were to happen, Bitcoin would be in the millions of dollars in 5 years, not $50k. Bitcoin can already gain $2000 in a month long bull run. Bull runs are only going to increase in raw dollar values as the price gets higher. A non-stop bull run with very little corrections for 5 years is not going to happen. This year hasn't even been a non-stop bull run, there's been 1 to 1.5 month long corrections, and the major bull runs didn't even start until basically beginning of May. So it's been 6 months from beginning of May and the price has increased by over 4.5x during that time! That's a doubling rate of less than 3 months!

Even if you describe your non-stop bull run as only having a doubling rate of 6 months for the next 5 years straight (which is a far cry from what you described), from today's price of $6400, that means Halloween 2022 Bitcoin would be $6.5 million! Doubling from here just 3 times will put bitcoin at $51k.

My point is all Bitcoin has to do to get into the 6 figures within 5 years (which I absolutely think it will) is have a solid bull run every few months, with deep corrections in between like we've had this year. As the price goes higher these bull runs will get smaller percentage-wise but larger dollar-wise.


Here's an extremely low ball estimate for Bitcoin for the next 5 years:

2 bull runs per 12 months, starting at 50% gains for each bull run for first 12 months, going down by 10% every year, so that the 5th year the two bull runs only get 10% gains each. Just these meager gains (by bitcoin standards) would put the price at $83k in five years!!

I wouldn't bet all my money on any specific price prediction on bitcoin or anything else in the world.

But I will say I feel 90% sure the price will be over $100k in 5 years (personally I think it will probably happen in 4 years around the end of 2021). And I do plan to hold most of my bitcoin until the price is $100k, at which point I'll slowly start selling in order to diversify my portfolio, and I expect to start doing this in less than 5 years.

I'm not comfortable with what I'm about to guess with the price of bitcoin but possibly everything can happen. We understand on what the market of bitcoin's status and it's dominating all the crypto's and even it's still young, many are amazed on it's growth and increase. Taking step by step for each year is way better, we are speculating too much price but do you even bother to think about those decrease and corrections, FUDs and other stuffs that will come along bitcoin's way up?

I like this way of thinking, and I think you're absolutely right.  Bitcoin's current story is only going to take us so far (I have no idea how far, but certainly it's limited).  In order to climb into the 5-digit price range and keep increasing, something fundamental is going to have to change.  Amazon adoption would be a good start.

Did you trade or did you hold though? I don't trade because it takes too much time, messes with tax reports, and is very risky. With long-term investing I've been doing quite well though, even if it took quite a bit of effort and research to stay safe.

Ah I see. That's why I dislike trading. If you want to do it manually you need years of experience to not lose money, and I don't feel like spending years to practice manual trading. I'm working on a bot for daytrading since I will be able to use the programming and Math skills that I learn from that for other projects as well, while trading would only be useful for trading. And I don't want to sit at my computer 24/7 for the rest of my life to trade some digital assets.

Just be careful not to buy any pumped coins. A lot of people buy in during hypes and then get surprised when they end up losing money when all the long term holders start cashing out some profits.

Honestly, after trading in many cycles of this year, I understand holder or speculator can not make more money than the smart traders can sell their coin for every cycle. They do not hold any coin for long term, they have many plans and will sell coin when the price of crypto reaches highest price or breakout their target. I think Bitcoin turned a corner this year in terms of worldwide acceptance as a viable investment and as a legitimate new technology. Even if the majority of people don’t understand Bitcoin, I believe they recognize that it’s here to stay and is going to shake up the banking system.

We’ve seen the price increase seven fold this year with no significant correction. Even though we know there will be volatility, I think the sentiment is very positive that Bitcoin will eventually reach $50,000 to $100,000 within the next 5 years.

It is impossible to know what it is going to happen with bitcoin since there are so many factors at play but at the same time the history of bitcoin show to us that no matter what happens to bitcoin, bitcoin always comes stronger than before, so I think that the most likely outcome is that bitcoin has an higher price in 5 years than the current price which is something incredible if we consider that the price of bitcoin is already high enough.

Not only 60% with it's price but mostly it's going to happen with the users, there's no exact and accurate stats for how many we are now in the bitcoin ecosystem. And 60% growth is possible on the next 5 years and the price can even go up to $50,000 by that time so it's a yes that holding bitcoin right now is the finest thing to do.

I don't agree with you mate, because the insight you have might not be good for an individual like us. There is nothing wrong with this technology because this is not a pyramid,  and in fact this is now a growing business worldwide. More people became long term holders with a compounding assets because of bitcoin, and if our vision for 5 years I think it would be much profit.

Yes, bitcoin has been spend its 9 years with a good running, but within 2 or 3 years bitcoin has gotten too much popularity and price wise bitcoin has break the record. The number of BTC is fixed and it is 21M. each transaction has to be verified by Miners in order for it to be a valid transaction. Mining is very costly process and in return Miners get a reward with BTC. The difficulty of mining is getting higher and higher. My doubt is when we reach the limit of 21M, the difficulty of mining might be very costly and what if miners are no more interested in mining. Who will be there to verify transactions. Let's say however we hit the limit of 21M and then there is nothing to mine and then who is going to verify the transaction.

If miners leave mining that is fine, then difficulty goes down and it becomes more profitable for those that still mine. That's not a problem. Also the 21M limit won't be hit for many decades.

Bitcoin will be 6 digits in less than 5 years. I think in five years Bitcoin will be accepted by most major retailers online. It will be a normal payment option. It will be a pretty typical thing to use as payment and also to invest in.

As far as I'm aware the difficulty takes a very long time to adjust downwards, unlike the very quick upward adjustments. So miners disappearing could cause a big problem. Don't quote me on this though, as I'm not 100% certain about this.

I personally think that we should also consider the other costs of mining, e.g., electricity, cost of hardware. When it becomes harder to mine, it may also become harder for stand alone miners to survive against those who rents aircraft hangers to mine. Because at some point, it may become unreasonable for small miners to mine if it will not bring any profit to them. That's my opinion :)

Mining is not an easy job as other thought, you have to spend much time to learning and research about the method can mining with cheap fee for electric bill. Beside that, the price of hardware for mining is also not cheap. Especially, in my country, there are a lot of miners can not buy hardware mining because domestic supply is not enough while demand is too high, which has led to continuous increase in product value.

Yeah, mining is quite difficult for non-tech nerds. And even tech nerds don't always understand business enough to optimize the economical aspect of mining. It can be a great hedge if you know what you're doing though, but you need a lot of capital for it to be worth your time.

I really think that bitcoin will continue to grow because more and more people are starting to invest on bitcoin. Bitcoin price depends on market demand, which means if more people are investing on it, it's price will grow too. I still think it is a low prediction bitcoin reached almost 19k some days ago and right now is trading above 14k, it is my opinion we could reach 50k and while I agree that bitcoin could be better off growing slow at the end we do not control that, if bitcoin grows faster than that then we need to accept it.

Actually, I think there's little to be said about it. Most analysts (and especially bitcoin enthusiasts) agree on the great growth that the bitcoin market will have in the next few years, and even some of its biggest detractors are beginning to join that consensus.

I do not know if this growth has sustainable basis according to the great problems and the limitations that begin to accumulate in the bitcoin ecosystem, but at least the speculators seem willing to prolong this growth in the medium term.
