Yesterday I red article regarding digital currency. The article aim to discourage us in using digital currency as these currency is not recognize by our country monetary institution. What do you think is the reason why  other governments are discouraging its citizen to use digital currency? Any thoughts.....

I think it is pretty obvious. Would Microsoft recommend you buy Apple? Would Amazon recommend you to buy on eBay? Would authorities and central banks recommend you to use Bitcoin?

It's in the best interest of governments you don't use Bitcoin for obvious reasons - they can't control you if you use it.

To support to digital currency there is need of infrastructure to support such digital virtual payments. Along with infrastructure there is issue of exchange rate against particular countries fiat currency. And last one important thing that interest of government in blockchain technology.

If government think that they are capable to offer such infrastructure then such countries are accepting Bitcoins, but poor and undeveloped countries don't have such support in technical matter.

I think it is because bitcoin is decentralized that the government cannot control it and i think they are afraid so they are not supporting it.

It' not that they're against digital currencies per se. They're against cryptocurrencies in general because they cannot control it. Historically, these same cryptocurrencies have been used as tools for money laundering, tax avoidance, and crybercrime, so they actually have reasons to justify not recommending them.

I'm fairly sure they're fine with digital currencies for as long as they're managed by central banks. There are a few countries which have already floated around this idea. It sucks, but such is life.

Most people know of it here, but there's no great reason to adopt this one coin in particular for most of those that aren't already in it.

Besides, can it really handle the load as it is now?

Government is nothing other than just group of people controlling government. Government with such crappy and uneducated people will never support to bitcoin, But developed countries are testing blockchain technology and its possibilities. Blockchain is a great technology offering ultimate solution for better future of human being.

World is already entered into new era of economics and finance with Bitcoin invention. If governments accept and adopt such changes then it will bring revolution and transparency in system.

They can't control it, it is open to scammers or people who simply do not have your best interests remotely in their mind and are seeking to profit off of your greed or whatever else they can think of, something a lot of people will willing subject themselves to on a regular basis. But the big point is that they simply cannot control the volume and value of the currency, meaning that they government now has to be more frugal with their spending, which means that governments are going to have a harder time trying to fulfill socialist promises they made, as well as being less able to stimulate the economy due to not having the ability to inject a bunch of fiat into the system.

They cannot use a currency they have zero control over because it simply cannot work with the current dogma that is modern governments.

Such as IF Government  want to transfer money to other country to purchase goods and They will buy at 5700$ , Next day they going to transfer and see value was decreased by 500$ and Don't think so they will send Few $$$ , they will invest million of usd $$ , even Single $ price up down they need to face issue , Bitcoin price going up down upto 500$ in a single day.

On the other side,
Government can save money and time when they use Bitcoin , or they can create their own virtual currency which can transfer in other countries
many countries are plaining of this thing already.

in upcoming 25 years 99% of people will know about bitcoins at that time we dont know supply of bitcoin may be ended... as their are limited amount of bitcoins left.

It depends on what government are you talking to. Japan and Australia are open about using it and allowed bitcoin to coexist with their national currencies. China and the US, however tend to still pose some major concerns about cryptocurrencies in general. I understand where China and the US is coming from about their negative stance on bitcoin, but again every currency can be used in illegal ways or manners and not only bitcoin, so I think somehow these countries need to be educated more about cryptos in general.

i have always thought the big reason was that it lacks consumer protection being irreversable .
People are dumb, a government could never recommend a digital currency like BTC, people would get scammed like they do their credit cards and paypals, and expect the company or gov to just reverse it and make it go away :D ya , not with BTC haha

the government doesn't want cryptocurrencies because they can't control it or manipulate it or even regulate it. it is not backed by the country's economy, the government can't print more of it. the user or citizen has full power, can you see why government who is supposed to "govern" doesn't like that idea very much ??

yes it is true, because every government has its own regulation, let alone it concerns the life of its people. And it may be that some governments fear that using a digital currency such as bitcoin will reduce the exchange rate of the country's own currency.

Its just because the government cant control the bitcoin transactions and also a decentralized that they afraid that it might be used in illegal activities such as money laundering, smuggling, drugs or explosives and scam. All of these are the main reasons of why they dont like the bitcoin currency because they are just protecting the welfare of their people but all of these can be avoided if they will just regulate the bitcoin before they legalize it so sometimes i think they have other reasons behind.

Because digital currency has no monetary policies and decentralize currency. As digital currency is non traceable and govt does not have control on it.

Mainly, it can be used to money laundering. So it's difficult for monero etc to keep raising in a long run, I think.  And if the currency is weak, nobody will be using the fiat.

Interests, politics, stability. There are too many reasons. I don't think any country really likes to use a virtual currency that exists only on the Internet, because it doesn't even know where bitcoin's founders are. And virtual currencies would compete directly against the country's benchmark currency, and each government would not be a fool. Of course, the emergence of bitcoin and blockchain is undoubtedly great, and it's always been!

Because your government worries too much about your safety and life quality, so they don't want to see you in danger making profit with shady currencies online. They want to encourage you to use your currency to boost the local economy and help them to rise your country.  ;D

I think the main reason why government of a cretain country do not support bitcoins is basically because they cannot control it, that's why they disencourage the people to use it.

For example, let's say that the use of cryptocurrency is legal in a particular country what do you think will happen? I'm sure that laborers in different industries will prefer bitcoin as their salary instead of fiat money because it has no income tax. Everyone will also prefer to use digital wallets instead of storing their money in banks because it's faster and more practical. If all these happens, where the government will get their funds for their projects? None!

digital currencies are available in all country. But bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, It is fully digital. They don't have any physical currency in bitcoin. Developed countries currency value are high range. Poor and developing countries value are low range. So government will not support to bitcoin. Main reason is most of the people are not aware in bitcoin.

They don't recommend using digital currencies specially cryptocurrencies because they don't control it.

The answer is obvious its because i think that digital currency that they're calling a fraud and critizing with destructive comments is actually beating their fiat currency because people prefer it more than the centralized fiat currency that this corrupted banker and governments owned. Yes government doesnt have the power to control the bitcoin. Thats why many of the government doesnt accept bitcoin.

The economy of a country is totally handled by the central bank of that country and only the central bank have permission to print or generate money. Now what will happen when you will start generating money and which is completely decentralised? Gov will have a fear of losing the control over the economic structure. They also fear of money laundering without any track.

I don't know why they should ban the use of cryptocurrency, this is what we have all been debating all along, the government has the power to ban cryptocurrency at all times. But for the exact reason I don't quite understand what they say, they tend to be unclear.

I think they are not recommending it because of the price volatility of bitcoin and that is why they are just trying to regulate it since a lot of people doesn't understand the concept of bitcoin so if they will use it and lose money in holding bitcoin then they will complain about it and they will think that bitcoin is a scam even it is not.

I think whether the government will benefit if he recommends using a digital currency such as bitcoin, of course it will be difficult to manage and control it, so far I think the government is more concerned with something that can be arranged, for the benefit of the government, and every government is sure have their own currency, and advise all its citizens to use its currency, so that they can control it , with all the rules they create about finance

Because bitcoin is decentralized they can't controlled it. Another thing government can't impose taxes for bitcoin users. Not like on local fiat when you deposit on bank and have interest, government can impose tax on it.

Yes you are right , with fiat money they can exactly see what you have when you had it and where you got it from.
With crypto's  it is so easy to hide money and transactions that they are scared , because how are they gonna tax you.

This is something an open sourced decentralized functional system. Here none acts as control authority. Each and every user involved into it contribute to the growth. This will not let the governments have the control, which is important while making calculations regarding the economic growth of the country. Also this has lots of access to illegal needs, even if regulated can't eradicate the illegal usage completely. This is the reason for government not getting into bitcoin usage.

It is obvious if Bitcoin is used widely, how can the government control it because of its decentralize.besides,if a new currrwas accepted,it must cause a new currency reform entirely,which may damage many people's benifit.

Well the main reason that government is not recommending to use digital currency is that digital currency is non traceable so government will lose control over black money.

if you read a proper article written by a decent journalist not an idiot or if you read the official warning that the bank/government released about cryptocurrencies, i am sure you will get your answer.

the reason is pretty simple and it is the same reason why "I" warn others about digital currencies such as bitcoin. it is things like
- the highly volatile nature of bitcoin. the fact that price of it can swing up and down a lot and if you invest you may lose or gain a lot of money in a short time. that is considered a big risk.
- the fact that it is a new technology, you need to learn it properly to use it correctly. not using it right can lead to losses. for example holding 1000BTC in your online computer with an unencrypted wallet your desktop!
- the fact that there are a lot of scammers out there that are using the bitcoin's no charge back to rip you off.
- don't get me started on altcoins, how shitty they are, how majority are pump and dumps (which is illegal by the way). and how there is a lot of market manipulation (which is illegal again).

The digital currency shows privacy even the government cannot control this main reason why they don't want to adopt the use of bitcoin they are afraid that this can be use in illegal activities which they cannot prevent or detect.

Digital such a Bitcoin can not be controlled by the government because they are afraid of prices that often fluctuate. Also Government safraid that this currency is lacks of regulation. So that can be used negative things.

Because the government can't fuck with you some % of any transaction made in bitcoin.And they certainly don't like the fact that this currency can be used as any other currency,but we can't track her,and it is very sad.

It's because the government officially supports the central bank where they gain interest and partially may income from it. Also why I think why the government wouldn't support this is because they don't have control over it, they don't have the means of force to tax and gain something from. Besides why would you support something you can't gain on.

I think, its because of the decentralization, that the government has no control of it. Also, the possibilities that it will be use to crimes, where the government officials will not be able to trace things and/or information needed to solve the case. I heard that bitcoin is being use to crime, buying drugs or other illegal things, I was so disappointed. If this will be the case, if I'm in the government too, I will definitely not recommend the use of bitcoin.

Because its not regulated by them and its difficult to regulate because of the nature of bitcoin transactions.

It gives most of the reason but one important reason is missing.

Profits/Loans ~ the government and the central banks the same goal and they’re working side by side to archived it. Banks need investors and depositors and if bitcoin will pull most of it banks profits will be affected and taxes for the government be cut/lessen so the taxation target of the agency will not meet.

This is the only reason why they keep on depending this bankers and why we really hate them. Can we blame them? Maybe, but I can’t.

Why not governemtn put taxes on bitcoin. I think it they will recognize bitcoin as legal currency, then it will become easy for them to put tax on bitcoin. And even if govenment will turn bitcoin as legal currency, they the banks will also start deposition bitcoin, they will create online wallets for it, and i think through this way they can get more clients and will  definantly get more profit from bitcoin users.

There is one important point where bitcoin is able to threaten the economic sovereignty of a nation around the world, the Government must immediately conduct full intervention to control the finances or people will do whatever they like and cheat taxes. The power offered by bitcoin to users to date still lacks the proper legal regulatory format.

The government also does not want inflation so all must be carefully calculated about bitcoin.

Of course the government dont recommend it, because there are no advantage if the citizen used the digital currencies, the government cant taxed the person and then the government cant trace the transaction, and it can disrupt the economic balance, so the government never recommend it and try to regulate it

It's hard to govern when you couldn't see where money is going, you see back in my place there is a law where cashing out a big sum of fiat money personally (around $5000) would require a formal checkup from banks staffs for anti laundering purposes, digital currency simply doesn't allow such governance if you use personal wallets.

Cybercrime and theft happens so often in cryptoworld and there is hardly any lawful actions against them. KYC is a good measure but was not good enough to counter malicious activities.

I think by nature cryptocurrencies wouldn't fit into any government currency policies lawfully, but rather as an investment tool.

to realize the government using bitcoin is indeed it takes a long time and also every country already has a legitimate currency.

there are many reason from the government not recommending us to use digital currency.

1. they can not control digital currency because its available in internet and decentralized.
2. they afraid that digital currency will become bigger and many people right now is not trust their government because there is many problem that could not be solved until now by government.
3. they don't want their citizen to get rich without paying tax to them because they think that taxes can help their economy.
4. they actually know that digital currency can solve the poverty problem for their citizen but they don't want to let it happen because if their citizen have money, they are difficult to be control especially for the taxes.
5. they are trying to cover the truth of digital currency that could be their solution to solve their economy financial.

Bitcoin offers an alternative to the conventional,state sanctioned banking system.This maybe why Governments are not recommending the use of digital currency  as bitcoin,and because they can,t stand the idea of a currency that can,t be debased to political order.

You forgot the number one reason governments do not allow Bitcoin - because you cannot tax Bitcoin. The government needs too much resources to track every individual user of cryptocurrency.

there are two scenario's for this. First u dont have money in physical form instead in digital form. So anybody can hack u and get all ur money in no time making u poor. As still there is no infrastructure for digital currency theft control and rules. So this is to save citizens from big risks.
Other thing is that govt cannot control its movement across the globe while having no clue of transfer of money. So they cannot stop money laundering, taxation and some such economics crimes.
To adopt digital currency, there is a need of digital infrastructure and dev as well as law enforcement agencies for which govts are not prepared thats why they are reluctant to adopt.

Bitcoin itself is anonymous. Lot of peoples work and earn more money because of it, but since government can't tract it down, they can't collect taxes, must be one of the reasons.

Ya buddy, it's a one of the reasons for government say not use bitcoin. But the main thing is, bitcoin can not be centralized by any firm. Many country government tried to get a control of bitcoin. But it's not at all possible. So only,government try to reduce bitcoin inversement and growth of bitcoin.Bitcoin is can't control by any government

In my opinion the major reason for bitcoins not being recommend by the government's are :-
+ The anonymous nature of bitcoins :- the government fees that Bitcoins could be used for funding illegal activities like buying drugs or funding terrorism plus the identity would also be unknown, all they would know will be a wallet address.
+ They won't be able to put taxes :- the government won't be able to look how much a person would be earning and so they cannot put taxes on them.

The only reason is that the banking area would completely vanish and they wont have the amount of currency flow in the country which will lead to corruption.

What would happen if the taxes the government receive starts to drop dramatically due to the widespread adoption of bitcoin? Can you imagine the chaos it would cause!

Simply because they cannot control digital currencies, that's why. You can't blame your country though because it's known that btc is widely used in illegal activities such as money laundering and drugs trading. And of course for the monetary institution their main concern is not the laundering though maybe a little. Obviously if digital currencies like btc become rampant in your country they will lose huge amount from taxes.

Yes, banks dont want bitcoin to flourish because if people started using the bitcoin, it will be the end of banks.  Even i have few friends who are employee in banks and they always talk bad about bitcoins and when i ask them why they hate bitcoin, they say that if bitcoins become popular and banks become less usage , their jobs will be in trouble.

It could be of several reasons, one of which is the fact that it cannot be controlled by them. It could also be for the fact that bitcoin as a digital currency hasn't been recognized globally.

Why would they recommend a financial system that keeps that is not regulated in any way? I would make no sense for them.

Governments and centeal banks feel obliged to warn people about new risky investment like cryptocurrencies and thus they actualy want to protect themselves. On the other hand significant amount of anonimity related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies prevent the possibility to monitor the transactions and prevent possible money laundering or some criminal activities. And people are still very naive, some of them enter into suspicious fraudulent scheems and then say that the government hasn't warned them although government actualy doesn't have anything to do with that.

Because they cant control bitcoin that is one of several reasons why some government in other countries are not recommending bitcoin, but It only depends in the country's government. If the government of a particular country knows the advantages of bitcoin and how usable its is they will certainly recommend bitcoin, by the way other countries such as japan and australia, i guess, are already recommending bitcoin.

Since there are many National banks operated by the government and since there are many enterpeuners who runs the government , maybe the main cause ... Also you know sometimes bitcoins and other things tend to give rise to illegal activities thus governments want to take steps to stop what they aren't able to stop already.
I have heard about people doing drug dealing through bitcoins and much more. Government wants to stabilize everything nothing else :)
Well now slowly the government is accepting bitcoins and the tension is a little bit eased.

First, which government? The most hostile governments are the ones that seem to be the most hostile toward their people. That should tell you something about their advice.

The government of most countries see digital currency as a treat to their economy and a way for fraud act in the country that cannot be tracked, and many other reasons.

The reason is simple: because they have practically have no control over it. And they won't try to deal with or try to use bitcoin because they think it is too risky for them. They virtually cannot track the transactions through bitcoins so they got paranoid over it. So they did what they can do best, run a propaganda against to something that they cannot control or make money with.

Governments and by extension financial institutions lose control over people's money if crypto comes into play.

This is an issue that has been discussed over and  over again. Government don't need any reason to want to shut down anything or discourage its use. Its basically whatever they wanted that would play out every reason they gave is just because they want it to look acceptable and nothing else. With all the policies put in place can they say crime or money laundering have increase the more or reduced after the advent of bitcoin, I guess the issue still remain the same.

Obviously not the first time such a thing has happened, governments are very much concerned about the welfare of their citizens and I believe they didn't know much about it until the mid 2017, the period when bitcoin started to boom and it came into people's minds and they started their study and they understood that it's legit and they also came to one of the conclusion that they will be using the block chain tech soon in possible aspects.

Precisely. I think there has been an overreaction sometimes whenever a government issues even the most innocuous statements that simply distances itself from Bitcoin and advises citizens of that.

Given that so many people fall prey to scams and the inability of the state to protect them as laws are inadequte and always lagging behind technology, these measures are simply preventative, not restrictive.

Its country has its own law with regards into the listed currency that is allowed to used. that is the one reason why they discourage their people to use it as public currency.

Governments will try and discourage peoples use of bitcoin and other crypto currencies as it directly affects their taxation also other problems arise when people lose money through crypto currency and it is pretty much untraceable.

Bitcoin can't be lost that easily. It's much less vulnerable than cash! You can't burn it or hack it, you can't lose it if you're smart with backups and no bank or any other agency can seize it without your consent.

Government will always back their fiat and will want people to transact in fiat because it gives them VAT and excise profits. Bitcoin doesn't do that, the only tax you can impose on its users is income tax.

they dont have institution, so bitcoin can be everybody with no rule. when you loss your coin it your vault, you cant come to institution to do something. and maybe they wont get problem from bitcoin

It's simple. They can't control it. It means that they can print more if they need more money for goverment's expenses. That's something really good but unfortunately politicians won't change national currency to cryptocurrency probably because of that. Why people are looking for money so desperately? There should be limit.

There are lots of reasons why the government will not recommend to use digital currency because they think it is hard to control and manipulate. Such many illegal tools was uprising like scammers, money laundiring, tax avoidance, cybercrime. This are all affect by the funds of the government.

I think there are certain countries whose government forbids bitcoin, there may be several reasons, one of which may be considered bitcoin as a field of work for people who want to do cyber crime. but that's still my opinion only. the rest I do not know.

I think why other government not encouraging to use hitcoin because they dont have a power to handle this . They want a business who handle so they can esrn money. Not all government are corrupt but most of the governement are corrupt.

IN MY COUNTRY PHILIPPINES LAST FEW MONTHS AGO THE AGENCIE OF THE GOVERMENT OR THE BANK CENTRALO OF THE PHILIPPINES RELEASE NEWS ABOUT BITCOIN AS PAYMENT AND THATS GOOD FOR US BECAUSE THEY PROMOTE BITCOIN.

They discourage us in using bitcoin because they cannot control the digital currency. They can't control the in/out or the daily transactions.

Probably one of the reasons why the government does not support bitcoin users is because of its fluctuating nature that can change over time and the government can not manage its price.

first as you say. because most of the virutal currencies have an anonymous nature. difficult to set, and have very unstable vulnerabilities. that's why so many countries are hard to legalize crypto in their country

the government think that it would be hindrance on their actual money, and to think that they can control it specially the people who use it they will usw bank for it because of the low security and high payment when you widraw on it and sometimes money in the bank lost without any reason so it is not recommend to store huge amount of money on it.

I look at it from a different angle, it's rather because the governments and central banks see Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as rivals to their respective local fiats and should they promote its usage within their domain they'd stand a chance of loosing revenue as the citizenry would prefer the cryptos due to their anonymity and ability to skip taxes.

Bitcoin's volatile nature doesn't bother governments at all, its decentralized nature does. Governments use the volatility as excuse in the hope to discourage Bitcoin usage. The same basically goes up for AML and KYC, which is an attempt to localize who and what is involved in crypto, etc. Regulations are the only way for the government to remotely control something that in reality can't be controlled at all. This market needs time to mature and eventually become more stable than what we have seen in the last years, everyone with a basic form of understanding should know that.

There are limiting factors why government don't legalize them.. and also the hardware or whatever machine they need to support the virtual money to locate and to add taxes.

I think the main reason is that we all know that most government have corrupt officials. if bitcoin will be legalize then corrupt officials can use bitcoin for transaction and if they do that the transaction will be anonymous. If bitcoin will be legalize there will be a lot of cyber crime that may happen.

First of all,  Bitcoin is decentralized,  anonymous and no bank fees.  That is why the government and banks are afarid of Cryptocurrency.  What they need to is create laws to mandate Cryptocurrency especiall those ICOs who are just showing up without clear function,  which may be scam and not legit

Governments are the central agencies for controlling all financial institutions, keeping this in mind bitcoin is decentralized hence not controlled by anybody.Till the banks decide to take the bitcoin/cryptocurrencies under them such will be the impact of not using it legally. Still i see many countries trying to float this agenda across & bring these coins on board as many countries having infrastructure will be able to support the system but on the other side there are poor and under developed countries who cant afford the cost , such is the case why bitcoin is not used in most of the countries yet, still i see ray of hope in the coming years as we are going to live in the digital arena and we can overcome these difficulties.

I think in time, they will recommend the use of digital currencies, just take a look what Japan is doing, it is revolutionazing the way they use digital currencies. As of now, governments do not recommend it yet, probably, it is still new to them, and they have to make new laws in order to look over cryptocurrencies this is what Russia is doing, and what Japan and already did, they must first find a way on how they can regulate it, to protect their people, second, bitcoin's enemy is still the banks, for it will ruin them, if banks recommend the use bitcoins probably, the central bank will be open to it. I think in time, all countries will be more like Japan in terms of using digital money, since it is the future, and we cannot stop it from happening, hopefully by that time, no more negativity will circulate around Bitcoin.

Government doesn't recommend to use digital currency such as bitcoins because bitcoins are anonymous in nature which hides the identity of the person during its transactions which can increase crime rates and also that the bitcoins are decentralised in nature that means governments has no power over bitcoins which of course government won't like.Government also think as an dangerous invest due to its volatile nature and discouraging us not to use bitcoins.

I think it's because government cannot control those who use bitcoin. You can do almost everything using bitcoin without them knowing your identity. This is only my opinion though.

Exactly! This above is one of the main reasons.
It will be tricky to tax Bitcoin and to track millions of blockchain transactions.

If gov. try to tax centralized exchanges (mean users) people gonna move to decentralized exchanges.

Yes. What some governments are doing is to create cryptocurrencies or at least planning to create them. At first, they ignored cryptos because they weren’t really important but as market cap is growing they have realized that they cannot ignore them any more so, as they cannot control bitcoin and other cryptos, the solution they have come up with is to create their own one. How this will affect bitcoin is another matter, as some people will only use the government backed ones.

You are right government wants control over everything. Bitcoin being decentralized gives the government no power over it. If they can't control it they can't tax it, if they can't tax it they can't profit from it. The government always looks where there is profit for them, unfortunately for them they can't profit from it.

Of course there is no possibility of regulation and taxation. This is the biggest problem.

No sensible government will support or recommend the use of virtual currency because they believed it is counterproductive against their monetary policies, the central bank of such a government cannot control it because it is decentralized and probably untaxable which is a disadvantage to their economy.

For me because of the tax. Government can't get much tax if we are using bitcoin or any other crypto currency. That's why some countries banned bitcoin.

Because they don't want to disturb there own monetary system and get collapsed on there own decision to give permission to use crypto currencies. That's the simple reason for that. No one would recommend alternate system to be used because the user base will get distributed completely leading to distributed profits as well. The profits? Obviously the price will fall to zero but bitcoin will not fail. Because if the prices of bitcoin falls to zero then people will rebuy at dust prices and the things will restart again. I think one possible reason is that they can't fully monitored the flow of bitcoins. This is one way for those money launderers or those who are engaging in illegal transaction to mask their deals and money without the authority noticing it which gives them a great problem. I think the government just want the transactions or deals to be transparent to them or maybe they want to tax it(which is possible).

Simple answer . The cryptocurrencies are all descentralized and the goverment hasn't control over on them . Also most of them are implemented with Proof of work technology on their blockchain and need a lot of energy to stay alive the blockchain .

In my country too, the government does not allow its citizens to invest in bitcoin, so far I just feel if the government still can not take firm decisions with the use of crypto. The ex-finance minister of my country said that his government is working in order to eliminate the use of cryptocurrencies. My country's government also said the same thing. They don't want us to use cryptocurrency as payment method since they think it's illegal and not safe. We can't really track the transaction using cryptocurrency, which may lead to many scams. And thus, they don't want to be responsible to all the scams so they prefer us not to use crypto currency rather than having problems in the future.
What's even more sad, they even make regulation to ban transaction using cryptocurrency. Maybe they think that crypto is a threat as well for our own currency and also for the bank in the future or long term.

I think the reason is because they can not manipulate the bitcoin that's why they warn people to use it. All governments are like that around the world because they know how risky investing in bitcoin and they want to protect their people to scammers who use bitcoin to deceive others
