So you ran search+replace on BAMT then added a convenient backdoor?

Can any linux gurus, check this thing out for backdoors etc? Any automated way of doing this?

Most times netstat, tcptrack, and iftop commands will usually show any backdoor connections. As far as I can tell, it's clean.

Backdoors on a mining rig OS?

Just use a simple password for your rigs and pool, and don't log into any online accounts on your rigs. You should be fine if you do this even if there is a key logger or something.

PS: OP, I love you long time.

Its clean 100%.
If anyone other can check. Please check for other who don't believe.

But check this. If you have router, and you rig get ip address 192.168.1.132, just LAN user can access to your rig (ssh).  All ports from internet network are closed. So nobady can't access to your ring :).
So you rig is safe.

Any chance of putting up an .ISO, or is there an easy way in windows to go from .img to .iso?

Edit: I changed the file extension from .img to .iso and vmware is reporting no operating system found.

I thnik you can't convert direct to iso and install on VM. You need extract this on your USB. Then you can try to make ISO from your USB stick. And thet iso extract to your VM.
If you have USB, extract and try it to boot. It's works.

Please post it as an .ISO file, the .img file that you posted does not work.

I have tried:
renaming it to .iso -- no good
renaming it to .flp -- no good
downloaded, installed imgtoiso.exe -- Error, cannot create vdisk

I would like to use this and report back my findings to the community.

Edit: running this on Windows Vista SP2

Everything would work right out of the box, just have to change your pool logins and such. Good for putting on a bunch of old flash drives and putting on several devices without having to install anything on any of them.
I might try this out later.

So I can load this up on a machine with some 7950's and it will work out of the box? No driver install, cgminer compiled and ready to use, etc? Just ssh, screen and go?

That's the idea. I haven't set it up yet, but that's what it's designed for, yes.
It's based on BAMT, which did the same thing for SHA256 coins up to the 6xxx series, but stopped being developed. This focuses on Scrypt in the 7xxx series, so it should do what you say.

It's an IMG file, which means pre-installed, just get an image writer for windows like Win32 Disk Imager (http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/), write it to a hard drive (a flash drive for a cheaper method), run it.

i have BAMT running and i just use there own compiled cgminer --scrypt on console lol

i may upgrade this one to there! Thisone will have all statics working :)
need to see if there is any possibility to run on old hd instead USB was having lot issues when putting on hd, but got it working,  bamt killed all my usb-sticks so.... that is not a option.

is there any updates on programs, like cgminer ati drives etc or its just copy of bamt?

It really killed your usb sticks? or just changed partitioning and now shows ~500mb ?

If you unpuck 4GB img on 8GB USB, you can use just 4GB. So if you put 8GB img, you have more space.

Its booted. Now you need to conect via SSH. You have help on www.smos-linux.org/help , just look it.

@Mazakguy
why you can't overclock on linux, do you try smos ,its work perfect? you don't need any tool, just cgminer, and cgminer is alrady in (configured for scrypt).

@jasinlee
you need iso for what? To burn it on DVD?

Need a way to software undervolt in linux. I can save almost 150 watts per 3 card rig doing so

try this
PLoP Boot Manager v5.0
http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanagers.html

You need to edit USB sdX1 partition FAT32 to some other FAT32 who support your MB. Then mount img file on USB.

It will be supported for oldest mainboards on SMOS 2GB USB.

PloP did it. Altough it wasn't smooth. I had to make some random changes in PloP settings. Not sure if it would boot again. EDIT: It boots. I just need to enable USB 1.1 in PloP.
Now it's clearly some motherboard compatibility issue.
Hope SMOS 2GB would work when it's done.

BTW, big + for SMOS against orginal BAMT. I recently got a second gpu and couldnt make it to run on BAMT. And SMOS is able to run it. Altough it's loud and high temp (85). Probably because it's used.

2GB SMOS linux launched!

http://www.smos-linux.org/download

Changelog added!
http://www.smos-linux.org/changelog
Are there different packages between the two or just expanded to fit different sizes?

This is new on 2GB SMOS linux:

-cgminer upgraded to 3.2.1 version
-ADL_SDK upgraded to ADL_SDK_5.0
-mother upgraded to last version
-Fixed USB boot black screen and J_ (for old motherboards)
-Perl status fixed
-All GPU enabled by default
-Disabled fan speed 100% by default
-Default password for user changed to smosuser. Username:user Password:smosuser (change it)
-Added thanks list in /root/donate

4GB SMOS linux is very stable! And you can get just 1.5% rejection.
But on SMOS linux its ~0.4-0.8. Depends which pool you using.

If SMOS users decide 2GB it's better. We resize 2GB SMOS to 4GB with all of these changes. But for now we can't say which is better. We must wait for users to tell us :)

http://www.smos-linux.org/download

Changelog added!
http://www.smos-linux.org/changelog
Are there different packages between the two or just expanded to fit different sizes?

This is new on 2GB SMOS linux:

-cgminer upgraded to 3.2.1 version
-ADL_SDK upgraded to ADL_SDK_5.0
-mother upgraded to last version
-Fixed USB boot black screen and J_ (for old motherboards)
-Perl status fixed
-All GPU enabled by default
-Disabled fan speed 100% by default
-Default password for user changed to smosuser. Username:user Password:smosuser (change it)
-Added thanks list in /root/donate

4GB SMOS linux is very stable! And you can get just 1.5% rejection.
But on SMOS linux its ~0.4-0.8. Depends which pool you using.

If SMOS users decide 2GB it's better. We resize 2GB SMOS to 4GB with all of these changes. But for now we can't say which is better. We must wait for users to tell us :)
Ahh. Saw the changelog, didn't realize it was just for the 2 GB. Nice changes though, will have to try it out.

Okey, try it, and reply with impression.  :)

This isnt best of 7970. Its just very hot today (outside 34c, inside 40+) between cards is 0.5cm. And SMOS user puts down engine and memory.
Usually they going 750,760khs.

If you are using SMOS linux, send some of your screenshots to smoslinux@gmail.com, so we can put them to our website.

How does this handle multiple rigs? BAMT had a screen that showed the "farm" and allowed some management. Anythign like that? I am downloading it and will take a look.

Thanks!

I might check this out. I'm currently using a BAMT fork I've updated. Web based mgpumon is pretty important to me, are the original underlying bits for it from BAMT still there? I've created some farm management scripts that really help manage lots of rigs easily.

Please post it as an .ISO file, the .img file that you posted does not work.

I have tried:
renaming it to .iso -- no good
renaming it to .flp -- no good
downloaded, installed imgtoiso.exe -- Error, cannot create vdisk

I would like to use this and report back my findings to the community.

Edit: running this on Windows Vista SP2

Try: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

First, congrats for your smos project, bamt needed an update badly!

I wanted to know how to make a 16 gb image for a 16 gb usb drive...
Or if the the 8gb version posted on the thread is updated with latest changes...
Or if i can use something like GParted to resize the 2gb version which seems to be the latest according to http://www.smos-linux.org/installation/
http://www.smos-linux.org/smos-linux1.0-2GB.zip (last version)

Thanks in advance!

I must say that if what you are paying is hosting, you can use a free one, you are not using anything special other than a simple html hosting... Just saying so you can save some money...

I think the 200gb are for the actual image downloads, just use a file hosting like Mega (it downloads pretty fast with free account) or rely on the torrent, and then use any free tier on the top hostings for the website itself. This way, as i told you before, you can save real money.
Just wanting to help you out here.. :P

It isn't about money. Its about simle download and install. Users can't direct download from command line on dropbox or mega. This files uses torrent for faster download. I can't put them on dropbox or mega. Its need to be on server...
I will do something to improve donatios to survival. On this day BW is 135TB which is nice :) So continue to use :)

Don't hold your breath..  Lack of donations is what killed original BAMT.  It's just not worth the time to develop software for miners unless you only do it for fun.

Can someone help me.

when mining with one 5870 I can't get it hashing faster than ~300kh/s

When I was mining with Windows 7 I got ~400
I would run via this line: cgminer-3.4.3-windows\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://coinotron.com:3334 -u evlewlew.miner0 -p xxx --thread-concurrency 7168 -I 17 -g 1 -w 256

How can I incorporate these settings in the cgminer.conf file in SMOS.  I tried editing it to the best of my knowledge but i think some other arguments are causing the low performance.  When I tried to remove the arguments I thought were unnecessary then cgminer wouldn't even open.

Does anyone have a working config file for a 5870 with SMOS or can help me make one based on the settings above?

Great news on the 1.1 release.. Just hit the forums since I'm trying to figure out why with more than 3 cards in the system it starts throwing vmalloc errors. It looks like the 32-bit kernel isn't handling 4+ R9s properly with the current Catalyst driver.

Does SMOS 1.1 bump the kernel to 64-bit?

Thanks

Great work on your new update!

Do you know how can i change the size of the image to use a 16 gb pendrive and have the other 14 gb usable within smos?

This img 2GB can be used on any USB, so you can put on 16 32GB - no problems :)

Yes i know.. but once im in smos linux, i just have 2gb of space total. I want to have the full 16gb pendrive, can i change the size of the partition?

You can change it if you know. You dont need for mining full usb.
I know it is not necessary, but i need it for something else, i want to solo mine and i need to download the block chain and it wont fit in the free space left in your image.
Every time i change the size of the partition, it just stops working, wont boot. Can you help me ?

Use this.

Burn on CD and boot it. Then resize your USB.

Thanks

64-bit would be great. Lot of people are GPU&CPU mining and we need x64 support. Installing other linuxes are painful.

Thanks!

hi, i run 4x 270x in my rig and i have a strange issue - your donation mining is killing my own mining - this means that after your donation mining ends it does not start correctly my mining.
i hope you understand my point.
i need always to do hard reset in order to start regular mining.
let me know if ya need more details.
i have build 3 same rigs and maybe i have some faulty GPU - still testing but second day the same issue.

So you basically repackaged BAMT and then hardcoded it to mine LTCs for you with my hardware? What the hell, are you freaking kidding? And this is not mentioned anywhere.

Don't use this crap guys.

If you want to see for yourself, check the files:
- /home/.donate.conf
- /home/.update.sh
- /home/.script.sh

The script is ran from root crontab and mines to his wemineltc pool every night at 3 AM for 15 minutes.

One thing is donations, one thing is stealing from people and not telling them about it.

I checked the crontab of a default install for the latest image they're serving from their website. I can confirm that runs the owner's donation script for 15 minutes at 3 AM.

This is the script that runs:

#!/bin/sh
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
sleep 10s
mine stop
sleep 10s
screen -d -m -S cgminer /opt/miners/cgminer/cgminer -c /home/.donate.conf
sleep 15m
clear
sleep 10s
killall cgminer
sleep 10s
mine start
sleep 10

You can get rid of it by `sudo crontab -e`, remove update.sh and script.sh from there, also for safe measure remove all text from both those files and copy your cgminer.conf to /home/.part and /home.donate.conf.

But in reality, just use BAMT instead of this crap. It is obvious the person behind it is not an honest guy, he keeps complaining about how he is not getting any donations, while we all mine LTC for him. It's obvious he tried to even hide it (3AM at night, all the files involved are hidden), and it is mentioned nowhere. Honest people probably actually (manually) donated to him, not knowing that they are actually forced to donate every day anyway.
After all this distro is basically a total clone of BAMT with very little actual benefit (or none). I used BAMT and it is the same thing, worked just fine, and contains no scam scripts.

You are lying, when I downloaded the image this text was not there. And EVEN IF, this is WAY TOO HIDDEN. Information like this should be very clearly displayed next to the download link, not hidden away in some random section that nobody will ever read. And tell me, why are all the files involved hidden, why does it run at 3 AM in the morning when most people are sleeping? Can you explain that?

You are a ripoff. And you have the nerve to cry here that you are not getting any donations. Shame on you, I hope you rot, you are the cancer to the community.

I downloaded Smos on Nov. 20 (V1.0) and the 15 minutes donation was already in the image and properly advertised on the website update page if I remember well. It was introduced after being proposed by someone on this forum thread.

By the way I have no problem with this, I think this is legit if you consider the good support he provides, plus web hosting, server bandwidth...

Guys, if you want something without restriction, build it yourself and do the debug yourself... If you can't, just accept the rules.

Question to developer:

I do not want to cause any shade on your distro but it seems to be scanning ports of my local network. Screenshot is attached. What is your comment on this, am i reading it wrong? Btw even though only few lines of netstat are shown it seems to be doing it all the time.

Also what do all of you guys think?

Thanks!

I should also add that I was monitoring SMOS given that hasco.ws pool was showing hashrate of 460 kh/s while SMOS showed 1210 kh/s (correct rate)

That isnt scan, that is when you asking requests on the web. If you cgminer showing 1210Khs, that is okey, so its problem on the pool

It is possible to connect multiple networked rigs up together and have a central control base through the web portal? ie. See monitoring information for all rigs on the one web page, add/remove/change one cgminer config for them all and stop/start all miners?

I understand Bamt 0.5 had a feature similar to this.

- Shutdown RIG from status (red) - sleeps for 10 secound, then shutdown RIG
- Added logout in web status.  - When you logout, nobady cant access to your web status without password.
- Some color changed, and images.
- Mine restart (auto stop and start mining - blue)
- Refresh web status every 15 second (now you dont need to refresh it manuel and overload your status)
- Favicon blue added.

Upgrade SMOS manuel from your RIG
- In folder /root/smos/upgrades/ is placed two scripts (check.sh and install.sh)
- You need to run it ./check.sh and you will see is there a new upgrade for SMOS. If there is a new upgrade, you will get message, then if you want run it .install.sh

Copy folder/file over the FARM
If you want to copy file/folder (/etc/bamt/ or just /etc/bamt/cgminer.conf) over FARM. You can choose on which rigs you want to copy by IP address.
- Script is placed on /root/smos/mining/farm_copy_folder.sh
- Script is placed on /root/smos/mining/farm_copy_cgminer_config.sh
- Script is simple, when you run it, you enter number of rigs. Then just put IP of RIG, after ip, its ask password of RIG. If you enter 3 RIGs, script will ask you 3 times IP and password.

Mgpumon
- Fixed port to 8080 when you try to join on some of your RIGs. How to enable mgpumon look it on TIPS (SMOS web)

Gpumon
- Changed text under speed on gpumon Mhs to Khs, it wasnt correct.

Kernel flag
- It was on tips, but now its by default.
- Sloved problem with freez, boot.
- You can boot more than 5 cards (if your moatherboard support it)

Boot
- Faster boot
- Image on boot changed, all other bamt image leaved for base.

Cgminer-3.7.2-kalroth and sgminer 4.0.0
- Cgminer kalroth, and sgminer isnt installed by default.
- If  you want it, you need to install it manuel.
- Cgminer 3.7.2 is default version. This two version is for r9.
- Cgminer-3.7.2-kalroth - Its placed in /root/mining/cgminer-3.7.2-kalroth, and you just need to run script to change your cgminer with this.
- to change it just type /root/smos/mining/cgminer-3.7.2-kalroth/kal.sh
- Sgminer - Its placed in /root/mining/sgminer, and you just need to run scritp to change your cgminer with this.
- to change it just type /root/smos/mining/sgminer/sgminer.sh

Network
- Network manager installed
- Network manager gnome installed
- In folder /root/smos/network/ we added drivers for next cards. Now you dont need to transfer it on your RIG. Just to install it.

If you have one more usb, its better to put on it, and test it, is it working better. if you dont like it, you can back it. but i think its works perfect :)

Hello,
I have a rig that currently has 2 Saphire Reference R9 290 using SMOS.  Works super well!  If I add a third 290 from a different company like gigabyte or Asus will SMOS configure it automatically as well?  Or do I need to do something to get it working?

Here's a temporary fix.

Navigate to the SGMiner folder:
cg /opt/miners/sgminer

Edit the missing file:
nano ckolivas.cl

Copy and paste this clean configuration file into nano: http://pastebin.com/Gjr3JdEB#
(Note: This configuration file may not be optimal for your system. Read the comments in the SGMiner release thread for a potentially optimized version for your specific setup: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoinmining/comments/1va8g2/ann_sgminer_400_release/)

reboot

Went from 4.1mhash to 3.0 mhash when I got sgminer working.

If you want to go back to CGminer, do this:

Follow the kalroth instructions:

wget http://www.smos-linux.org/upgrade/kal.sh
chmod +x kal.sh
./kal.sh

Then,

Replace /opt/bamt/gpumon with this file: https://bitbucket.org/beebee/bamt/src/98b0feed3400124397ebd46685812000c94af9af/opt/bamt/gpumon?at=master
Replace /opt/bamt/common.pl with this file: https://bitbucket.org/beebee/bamt/src/98b0feed3400124397ebd46685812000c94af9af/opt/bamt/common.pl

Reboot.

Forward a port to 222 on your mining machine in your router settings.

I just use the *nix utility "screen" and run a split screen on one miner and ssh to my other miners from there, that way I have all my miners on one remote ssh session at the same time and only have to forward one port to one machine on my network.

It looks good on my Samsung S4, so I can keep tabs on it while I'm at work :)

Hi.
Has anyone 5870 or 5970 running under linux(SMOS, BAMT...) with same speed as win.
I having the problem that i can get it to work at the same speed.
At the moment i am trying around with Smos 1.3.(also try´d update SDK to 2.9.....)
With linux and standard clocks(g 1 TC 8000) iam getting 310KHs, win 400KHs.
With win and OC 930/1250 i get 440 KHs.
Linux the best i can get is 370 with 775/1250.(as soon as i raise the clockspeed khs goes down)
(all with I 19)

Question is this a known "Problem"(linux drivers are just bad for 5870) or need i to change conf.

MFG

i have a wireless pci network card - ASUS PCE-N15 . smos doesnt recognize it from the start, and the linux driver for the card gives out errors when you try to set it up. not dependency errors though - errors from within the scripts.

No, just turn off rig, and start it. Maybe you will need to put differents clocks, thats is only change.

The forced fee is masked under a "donation" link on the website. The forced fee is not mentioned anywhere in the first post of this thread or in the official SMOS thread on the litcoin board. Somewhat shady. Makes one wonder what other things might be hidden in the distro...

If it makes a difference I have been using this distro for a while and have had multiple questions answered by the dev quickly and efficiently. I have been super happy with SMOS, as well as the support both on the website, in this forum, and through email.

I was at first distressed by the auto donate portion as well.  I do feel that it could be made more public (on the front page) and have the instructions to remove it made readily available.  This might actually leave people feeling inclined to leave it intact for a few days.

As far as I can tell there is no other funny stuff going on.  This has done everything I need it to do and does it very well.

  My 2 cents

But when i removed my screen from my rig, i can't see any data.

Did you use gparted?  First erase what is on the partition space you wan to use, than new format to ext4. If you erased the windows partition by chance you might have problems too. Also you might try using UNetbootin for creating a bookable USB for linux.

what do I need to do to acces my rig from remote?
I can acces when I am on my own lan using a different pc and use http://"myip":8080
But how do i acces from another internet?

Do i need to forward "myip" port 222 ?
because my rooter only forwards ports between 1023 and 63089

Or is there an other way?
I would like to use this easy screen but from remote.

I upgraded to sgminer.  It crashes when it attempts to initilize the API port.  If I set APP-allow to false it works no problem.

Is there a fix for this?

Hi, I am running 5 7870s.

Does anyone have a good config for this?

Do I just use the config from hardware comparison wiki?  ???

I have 17 cards mining on various hardware old and new. With the h81 btc pro motherboard this boots almost instant and has few problems , on an older 965t motherboard it wont even boot. When it comes to video cards i have 2 r9 280x cards that have lost 200kh/s per card on version 1.3 , my 7850's don't seem to even care which version they are on.

I like smos linux 1.3 but will use 1.2 untill the next release since it's not supposed to be based off bamt .

Some time after minig starts something adds 50 pool records to cgminer.

another question :-)

is it possible to give commands to individual cards?
"gpu-engine" : "1000-1000,1060-1060,1060-1060,1090-1090,1060-1060,1000-1000",
should run a few of the cards on higher clocks then other, but in reality in the browser they all say 1060Mhz
(and my 2 cards who run a bit hotter start running at 100% fan so it's not only a display thing, the are running all on 1060 Mhz)

Tried SMOS for the first time with three brand new Sapphire 279x cards. I used the config that's on the SMOS site. Consistently for the last day or so I have one card failing on me after any where from an hour to a few hours into mining. It's hash rate slows then it dies. The other two cards are hashing well around 470-480kh/s with few problems. I thought it might be a power problem so I hooked up one card to a separate PSU (one card on a 650 and the other two on an 860). That didn't seem to help. I do a coldreboot and sometimes it reboots no issues other times it reboots and gpumon or cgminer just don't work. I've double, tripple, quadruple checked the connectors, the power cables, ect. Not sure what other problem solving steps with this I should take. The cards do seem to work when the systems finds them and mining actually starts.

My only other experience with mining is another rig I set up with BAMT running two 7950s. I think I got spoiled there because it was SOOO easy to setup and has given me almost no problems and I'm hashing about 650kh/s per card on average. These 270s on SMOS have been nothing but headaches. Anyone having similar issues with 270x's?

Specs:
Asus M5A99X EVO mobo
Samperon 145
4gb ram
3  x apphire DUAL-X AMD Radeon R9 270X OC 2GB GDDR5
650w evga & 860w seasonic
mobo has 5 pci-e slots (three 16s, two 1s) and i'm using slot 1 (16) with riser, slot 3 (1) with riser and slot 5 (16) no riser
interesting slot 2 which is a 1 slot is not recognized by the OS at all, tried plugging into this one and the card didn't show up at all when i logged in

Any ideas? Anyone... Beuler??

7950s go easy on SMOS too, but cant configure very stable for all cards. You need some time to configure good config for your card. When you do it, that will be nice.

So have the example configuration you posted on the SMOS site been tested? I just used those setting because I figured you or another user had tested for some time. If it's a GPU configure issue do you have any suggestions on where to start? Core?? Memory?? Intensity??? Thanks.

All configs on web is from other users. So i cant guarantee its 100% correct. So start with memory and core, tc too.

Hello,

I have some problems with SMOS 1.3 on my new rig. It contains 2 X R9 - 280X sapphire toxic GPU's. When i start cgminer the GPU s want start mining.

I boot SMOS on a flash device. I configured everything like explained on your website via ssh. When i start the mining proces the problem is there. Here is a picture of whats going on :  http://imgur.com/3xQ236x

When i do the command ./cgminer -n this is the output : http://imgur.com/bVxEwsT  . ERROR  ADL Initialisation Error! Error -21!

When i login to the GUI via the webbrowser, it says that there are problems with my 2 GPU' s : http://imgur.com/u8fncqb

Any advice on how to solve this problem is welcome. I tried recompiling cgminer but that doesn't change anything.

Thanks.

thx

some comments:
- wonder if there is a way to install wine
- when adding a new application, there seems to be no default launch configured, no application launcher'
- can we add support in cgminer for keccak?

thx

Hey guys,

I am having a weird issue.  CGminer will only start if I have the stock settings in my .conf file (947/1250 for my r9 290s).  I can overclock them from within cgminer no problem and they are stable.  But if I try to put anything other than stock in the conf file it crashes when cgminer opens.

  Thoughts?

Just install it, you need to run manuel, just need to run script. Its better way ( i think, and users suggested for that ).

If I install keccak from your link, the scrypt version of cgminer is still available ?

Or, once installed, I just have to change the "scrypt" argument in cgminer.conf by "keccak" ? and I can switch whenever I want ?

cgminer stay, you just have option to mine custom with keccak or mine with standard cgminer. Keccak you can run manuel.

2 Is there a chance to get remote access to machines vnc/teamviewer?

3 What about cpu mining?

I'm having a lot of problems with smos 1.3 (also with bamt 1.3) :(
After a few minutes (random) after start mining, 100% cpu and stop hashing.
The process that crashes is:
/ usr / bin / X: 0-audit 0-auth / var / lib / gdm /: 0.Xauth-nolisten tcp vt7

The only way to fix is a hard reboot.

My config:
2 x Sapphire dual x 280x (no overclocking)

I've tried dozens of configurations and different solutions without solving the problem.
Can anyone help me?

Look it in /var/log/
You have video how to setup teamviewer on smos web.
You can mine cpu too.

you can easily compile with SJ enabled
the harder part is separating s from sj later on

download patch
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=+cgminer-3.7.2-sj-0.02.patch&l=1

patch <cgminer-3.7.2-sj-0.02.patch

CFLAGS="-O2 -Wall -march=native -I/opt/AMDAPP/include" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib" ./configure --enable-opencl --enable-gpu --enable-scrypt-jane --enable-scrypt

make
make install

we really need a new config file that is read to pass additional command line arguments as cgminer does not understand sj commands if placed in its config file but understands them is passed via cmd line

currently to get sj working with SMOS I have done this

nano /opt/bamt/common.pl

change

my $cmd = "cd /opt/miners/cgminer;/usr/bin/screen -d -m -S cgminer /opt/miners/cgminer/cgminer $args";

to this

my $cmd = "cd /opt/miners/cgminer;/usr/bin/screen -d -m -S cgminer /opt/miners/cgminer/cgminer --scrypt-jane --sj-nfmin 4 --sj-nfmax 30 --sj-time 1388361600 $args";

in a future SMOS release I am hoping to see something like this

additional.conf

my $cmd = "cd /opt/miners/cgminer;/usr/bin/screen -d -m -S cgminer /opt/miners/cgminer/cgminer $additional $args";

Keccak you can run manuel.

how to run keccak?

keccak is not scrypt based algo.

Guys, congrats on your efforts, however, I am really strugglng to get this working.
OK, so I downloaded SMOS 1.3, and it recognised all of my 6 GPUs, however, only when booting into failsave mode.
This is OK me, even great.
However, whatever settings I do input into the cgminer, conf, all the rig is crashing, both mining, SSH access, hashrate on pool, and I can shut it down only from the mobo power button.
I have tried and copied literally few different configs from folks, using same cards as mine - R9 270 and getting average of 480 khs.
@santapedofil
Can I send you my config file and you help me get this working mate?
I will be happy to donate for the further development of the project a bounty of 1 LTC if I can get these running....

I wanted to change some settings but i get an error now.
When I push change the config opens but when I push the update config button it says error opening file is write mode...

What is the cause?

It used to work fine before

Try last step from tips.
Maybe you need to put one of card direct on moatherboard.

But since I upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 My Rigs restart every night @ 3 O'clock. Can I check anywhere any logs to solve it?
Thanks!

SMOS Linux 1.3 dont detect integrated LAN on my MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming MB (E2205).
But according to changelog SMOS-Linux from version 1.3 should support it. Any idea?

But since I upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 My Rigs restart every night @ 3 O'clock. Can I check anywhere any logs to solve it?
Thanks!

SMOS Linux 1.3 dont detect integrated LAN on my MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming MB (E2205).
But according to changelog SMOS-Linux from version 1.3 should support it. Any idea?

Yes, it support. Just need to start it.
Type:

Code:
cd /root/smos/network/backports-3.10-2
make defconfig-alx
make
make install
modprobe alx
coldreboot

Check out this link, it shows how to patch cgminer with a bunch of extra goodies, one of which is support for scrypt-jane. I followed these instructions and am mining s-j coins on my SMOS installations right now and it was pretty easy. It includes instructions specifically for SMOS.

https://sites.google.com/site/rmdavidson/cgminer-3-7-2-patch-build-guide

Once you complete the steps there, just add these items to the bottom of your cgminer.conf file:

"scrypt-jane" : true,
"sj-nfmin" : "4",
"sj-nfmax" : "30",
"sj-time" : "1388361600"

Hmm, I got SMOS working on mining MaxCoin (keccak) on two of my rigs running 4 x R9 270's each, but one of the rigs seems to be crashing / loosing connectivity after a certain time, probably couple hours or so. After the first time it happened  I restarted and the hashes for the rig were halved and as a result I had to increase intensity to get it back near normals (was still around 30 off). Today it crashed / lost connectivity again and now with the increased intensity from before it's halved again. When I go back to the original intensity it's even less than after the first crash. Very weird. The system seems to be a lot slower too. After I run the keccak cgminer, it takes a good minute to get it all loaded, whereas it was pretty much instant before.

Any ideas as to what's happening?

Also, if it helps, in the web smos interface, whatever I did I couldn't get it to properly show the GPU's with check marks and hashes displayed, they all have X's on them but they are in fact working

EDIT:

Happened a third time. Always happens when I go to bed. I've noticed I need to restart the rig two times to be able to log into it via SSH from Windows.

EDIT #2:

I also can't even control the fans. On the rig that doesn't crash all of the fans are stuck at 50%, and on the rig that shuts down they are all locked around 35%...

EDIT #3:

Now just happened to the rig that was on for over 24 hours straight. After reinstalling over the keccak miner the hashes seem to go back to normal. Weird.

strange

"scrypt-jane" : true,
"sj-nfmin" : "4",
"sj-nfmax" : "30",
"sj-time" : "1388361600"

when I first tried getting those to work cgminer kept picking them up as unknown commands hence why I added them into the common.pl file before $args instead

I'll try again now that cgminer is verified working

top of my head I think you are looking for

/opt/bamt/common.pl
which /etc/init.d/mine launches

the other nice one to edit is
/usr/lib/cgi-bin/status.pl

to get More system stats (munin)... BACK !!!

What are the differences between SMOS and Litecoin BAMT?  I'm leaning towards BAMT since it seems more transparent and no hidden mining scripts. Are there any advantages worth going with SMOS? I'll be running 6 tri-x 290s.

I guess we have different ideas of clean and transparent.  If you had a blatantly obvious message at first boot that said something like,

"hey, if you don't mind, I would like to add a script that will mine for 15 minutes every night.  This will help me support development.  Do you Accept?  Yes or No?"

Instead, you chose to leave any mention of that from your original post and point us to read about your scheme by digging through a lengthy paragraph in the donate section.  You've been getting LOT's of negative feedback on this and still march to the same tune.  As far as lack of transparency, where are the source files on github?

Lastly, I need you or someone to give me some reasons to actually use this OS.  What advantages do you you offer over Litecoin BAMT?

Please add this feature  ;D.. This would really make hosting remote rigs which do not have port forwarding much more self sufficient and hands off.

Funny how this seems to be a huge headache for many BAMT and SMOS users yet it remains.. How can you promote a reliable system when Network Manager boots cgminer offline?

The fix is here..

From Pitobread on Reddit..

"remove network manager

apt-get install wicd
apt-get remove network-manager*

That will most likely fix it. Network manager crashes and in turn crashes the computer"

After log in by remote desktop, screen is black, there are no IP adress, infos about GPU-s,SMOS-1 writing is miss and other things,as I say whole screen is black, when I log in to Web monitor,it looks as on screenshot - do not work, but cgminer working fine also I get shares on pool Web monitor,so all work great on this side.

How fix this? I haven't got idea.Sorry for my enaglish best regards.

Does anyone else have this problem that SMOS kills cgminer ever ~24h because of smos running out of memory?(8Gb ram, 6GPUs)
Yes I know it changes server each night for the 15min donate mining but it doesn't crash cgminer.

Talking about SSH access because I didn't know that smos had remote desktop installed?
Anyway if its SSH access then you can change it by using the "passwd" command.

I want to weigh in about the donation.  As someone who has spent time and money putting together a viable turnkey mining OS, 1% is a small fee and probably barely compensates the OP for his time.  I would assume the OP has some experience with Debian to put this together, which is worth money in itself.  The time spent weeding through good and bad information online, investing in hardware which is compatible with the OS (and doesn't have unexpected quirks!) and patching oddball problems that no one would ever even think about...  For those unfamiliar with Linux and uncomfortable with compiling software and chasing down good drivers and SDKs, 1% is a small fee to save yourself the time and trouble.

I would suggest the statement here: http://www.smos-linux.org/donate/ be posted in the original post, otherwise it can come as a surprise to some people, which hurts trust.  If you don't want to donate 1%, use bamt.  If Bamt doesn't work, spend the time trying to make it work if your time isn't worth 1% of your mining power.

Disclaimer: I don't use SMOS and I don't intend to use it.  I just sympathize with the OP, having spent the last 4 weeks working to get a stable Linux OS together.  I would not share what I've learned for free.  Doing so makes it easier for people who haven't devoted their lives to computing, not to mention lowers the value of my mining equipment (ultimately costing me money) as the network hash rate climbs ever faster.  I've wondered why anyone would share something like BAMT or SMOS for free, given that doing so ultimately leads to more people mining, which ultimately leads to lowering the value of current mining equipment, leading me to believe there must be something else on the OS secretly taking at least a small cut of my mining.  Had the OP not said anything (or admitted to it) most people probably wouldn't even know it was happening.

In a few months, I will hopefully feel differently.  Right now, I'm only concerned about whether my mining will cover the cost of my equipment or not.

About the random eth0 disconnects, that is more likely a quirk between Debian and your network chipset.  For me, dealing with these types of issues has caused me the most headache.  Long story short, the easy solution is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106033  -- this isn't the "cheapest" solution, but it is the easiest.  You pay one way or another, either with time or money.  SMOS is the easy solution.  It's not the cheapest solution.

after spending a lot of time to have trouble with litecoin bamt i started using smos and everything is fine.

for me it's okay to donate 1% but i also think it would be better to make it more transparent.

i'd like to know if the "donation-mining" starts at the same time everyday to know if there's a problem with my pool/rig or i'm just donating if my hashrate is broken.

Does SMOS 64 bit exist ?  I wanted to install amdoverdrivectrl to undervolt GPU, but it available for 64bit only.
Now i got SMOS running fine with 2xR9 270 for 1 day. Only i don't understand why system does not load if Xserver disabled, what for you made this mandatory ? I have ssh + webcontrol, DM not needed absolutely.

Xserver is required for mining in Linux regardless if you want a GUI or not.

i've got 2x R9 270s running at 460KH/s each solidly on an AMD sempron 145 (64 bit). gimme a shout if you want a hand.

AMD Overdirve doesnt seem to work with our cards, but i've managed to undervolt using VBE7, but you can overclock using SG/CGminer settings.

Regarding xServer understood now, thanks. Anyway LXDE draws small resources.
Without any tweaks mine R9 270 running at 480kHs http://simplest-image-hosting.net/png-0-mine
My reason to undervolt is to reduce temperatures and do keep same hashrates.
For VBE7, could someone share stable BIOS for R9 270 Gigabyte card ? Card view http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/150214/gigabyte-r9270-2048-131028.html

What logs are worth looking at to debug issues when mining? For example I had a problem with a miner I just put together. It was mining pretty well for about three days then I had to shutdown to reroute some power cables. When I booted back up two of my four GPUs weren't hashing at all and the other two were running at like 30%. In a situation like this where should I start debugging? I know my way around a command line but by no means a linux expert. Any general advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Guys, I really need help to configure my mining rig 4 x ASUS R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 on SMOS-BAMT.
Currently I using smos V1,3, but I also tried with v1.1 and v.1.2

Rig working between 30 min and 1,5 hour, and after that mining stops. I tried more than 20 configs, I changed memory, motherboard, cpu, powersupply, but nothing changes.

I also tried to dig with 3 type of bios : Default bios, 1,1 V (undervolted), 1,163V (undervolted).
Tried to dig with only 2 cards and also mining stops after about 1 hour.

Does anybody using ASUS R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 (non X) cards on SMOS-BAMT?
If do, please give me gpu bios and proper config.

I tried diffrent configs (more than 20):
1500/1450 / TC16000/gpu1/int 18-19 / shaders 1280
1000/1250 / TC15508/gpu1/int 18-19 / shaders 1280
1080/1400 / TC15232/gpu1/int 18-19 / shaders 1280 ......

I can't make my rig working fine more then 10 days, please help guys biggrin.gif.

Are you using Asus R9 270 (non X)? This is important, because smos bamt working normal with R9 270X cards.
Also I first time see this kind of config.
TC 5121, Intensitiy 4? what mean X before intensity, is this some mistake or SGminer using different config file?
How much khash you getting with this config?

"xintensity" : "4",
"gpu-threads" : "2",

yeah i've got an Asus R9 270

currrently running at 460KH/s and very stable.

SGMiner has a few added options. one of them being xintensity. have a read here. http://www.overclock.net/t/1461916/tutorial-ultimate-guide-to-tweaking-amd-cgminer-3-7-2-kalroth-edition-sgminer-instructions-included-aswell-get-the-most-hash-out-of-your-gpu (http://www.overclock.net/t/1461916/tutorial-ultimate-guide-to-tweaking-amd-cgminer-3-7-2-kalroth-edition-sgminer-instructions-included-aswell-get-the-most-hash-out-of-your-gpu)

basically it allows you to fine tune the threads being run more precisely.

so we are running 2 threads per card and an xIntensity of 4 with 5121 base threads per cards.

the low TC i due to the fact that we have 2 threads per card. i've fiddled with these settings quite a bit and this is the sweetest setup i could get to run stable o my ASUS cards. you might get different results with a different Card.

Ok, thx a lot. I will try this config tonight.
I hope it will work with my cards on 1,1V. I bought cards 10 days ago, maybe is some new revision with new bios or something....

Also how is temperatures and fan speed on that setting?

i've got my cards in a case in my loft so its a bit warmer than an open air case.

temp target is set to 75 and i've never seen it go above that. fans at 70%

Again, your results may vary if your cards aren't in a case.

Anyone who knows SMOS well..

I have three rigs running SMOS how do I set up to consolidate monitoring? Meaning I want to go to one IP address to view the statuses for all rigs. I know this is possible in BAMT but I'm not real sure how it actually works.

Thanks!

Why i can't configure wifi in SMOS ? Yes, i can connect to wifi, but password doesn't save it and every time i need reenter after boot.  If i manually editing wifi settings Apply button greyed out so i can't save settings.
Also i tried manually configure wifi in /etc/network/interfaces, but all changes made to this file after reboot vanished.

So is do_direct_status: the IP address of the machine you are currently on OR is it the machine that you want to send the status to? Meaning the machine that will consolidate and report the data via the web page??

Thanks boss

I think it's the machine you're currently on (the machine you're changing the config file on). But when it won't work, just try the opposite (meaning do_direct_status = the ip of the "main" server under which you'll check the stats for the whole farm).

When I try to use your config, mu mining stop (computer blocked)after 5 min and I needed to restart rig.
Also I put 1,163V bios, I tested every card with extender on unigine heaven 4 benchmark about 1-2 hour, and cards passing all test. Also tried every card (one by one) to mine on gui miner for 1 hour and everything was good (1050/1400, TC 15508).
Dont know what to do anymore :(...

are you running windows as well as SMOS or are you trying to get this running in SMOS?

if you open htop or top when the computer locks is it Xserver thats using >95%  cpu?

mine did that when i messed with the memory clock.

No, I am trying to set mining on Bamt-Smos 1.3, I just tested each card on guiminer  (windows) for about 1 hour.
I need to check this, but I think that usage on every card is 99%.
I tried memory clock from 1000-1600, got same problems....

Hey guys,

I just tried to make a build of the cgminer for Ultracoin (scrypt-jane)  When I do

./configure --enable-scrypt --enable-opencl

I get this error

Configuration Options Summary:

  curses.TUI...........: FOUND: -lncurses
OpenCL...............: NOT FOUND. GPU mining support DISABLED
configure: error: No mining configured in

Everything is there (sdk, patch) I am not sure what to do next.

Thoughts?

Hey guys,

I have been using vertminer for Scrypt-N coins in SMOS no problem.  The only thing is I have to be at the computer I cannot run it though ssh.  Can someone help me make it so that vertminer starts the same was as cgminer in SMOS?  I know it is done with the screen command but I cannot figure it out.

The way cgminer runs, it opens in a background screen that I can access via ssh.  When I just run vertminer from a window it is tied to that window only.

 Thank you in advance

someone use sgminer on smos? I don't understand how i can mine with "mine start" with sgminer. I used these lines (http://www.smos-linux.org/tips/) to change cgminer 3.7 to sgminer:
wget http://www.smos-linux.org/upgrade/sgminer.sh
chmod +x sgminer.sh
./sgminer.sh

but it's obvious now my config file is not /etc/bamt/cgminer.conf as usual. anybody know where is config file to use sgminer?:°.

If you followed the steps online than yes it is the same conf file and it should be integrated to start with mine start.  The online scrypt actually replaces cgminer with sgminer.

watch out, ALWAYS DISCONNECT INTERNET with these images...

they auto start with settings and theyr own workers.....

almost fried my card, as i coudnt get it to stop... ALWAYS RECOMPILE SOURCE since it's pretty shady to autostart miner with theyr account.... i woudnt trust this crap with a 50 foot pole

#1 bins are in /opt/cgminer/ something
#2 killall -9 cgminer will kill processs
#3 killall -9 screen will kill the screen.

#4 i had hard time to find the process, it's harder then orig bamt, why ?

#5 you can also screen in and type 'q' , ctrl-a-x to get inside screen..

#6 when i have time ill fork this to a SAFE version that doesnt auto start, and MOTD showing where important files are,
maybe an auto mound of usb keys for configs you could bring in.

actually just saw in this version you can access config in README / CONFIG dirs on usb prior to boot..

STILL  SHould be NOOC DEFAULT and a nice MOTD SAYING how to make it autostart... like chkconfig mine on

Anyone can tell me how i can easily mine scrypt-jane, vertcoin, scrypt-n, ...?
I love the automatism and hope it's still possible to archive if i want to mine something non-scrypt.
Just turn the system on and it runs what i've put in the webinterface Cgminer Config.

I have a problem with my 3 rigs (each of them has 6x sapphire r9 270x). When I turn the rig on, everything works well. But 1, 2 or 4 hours later, one card slows down (from 480 khs to 70-90khs. It is about 10 kh less per 1-2 minutes or less. Look at the picture http://i59.tinypic.com/10gya1v.png ). 5-10 hours later, the whole rig stops working (I don't have access via http, only via putty, but the rig doesn't mine)

It appears in three separated rigs (Mobo: Msi Z77A-G45, 4gb ddr3, 2x corsair cs 650M, powered risers). I tried to disconnect that card, but it is the same (the only difference is that another card slows down). When I plug only one card, nothing changes.

I use SMOS linux 1.3 (+ v4 upgrade)

Scrypt: http://www.smos-linux.org/cfg/sapphire.270x

I also tried to do the last tip:

For 6 cards, error with boot, error with start X

1. You have problem with more then 3,4,5 cards, or you cant boot SMOS. This is solution. Turn off your rig by command halt. After your rig turns off, plugout USB. When you plugout USB, plugin USB on windows machine. Open SMOS label, and goes to the syslinux folder. You will see file named live.cfg, delete it. And DOWNLOAD it file from here (DOWNLOAD name is linked), extract it, and put it in the folder.

Up till now, nothing has helped. In addition - my rigs with 6x r9 280x or r9 290 works perfeclty.

Where is the problem?
Thank you in advance

Hey I just switched over to 1.3 cuz I was having problems getting sgminer to work on 1.2 but now I'm having a problem with one of my GPU's.
I have 1 6850 and 1 r9 290x
The 290x will appear to drop out while I'm monitoring on the webpage and the hashrate and temperature graphs show that it drops in and out. It's not overheating temp is around 70 celcius.
While writing this I just went into ssh to look at the cgminer using screen -r and it appears that my card is working fine. I am getting HUGE fluctuations in Hashrate though, it goes from around 850 down to 785 and anywhere in between just while I'm watching. I never had this happen on 1.2 and never had it happen on windows. My hashrate was also 890 with these settings on windows but I read that SMOS and windows can have different optimal settings. Here is my conf just FYI :

Since the Gridseedattack and the horrible power costs with about 45 cent per kwh, I cant make money with only scrypt mining.

Please help.

For Verminer I changed config " scrypt " into " nscrypt"

But it did not work.

Yes he's not writing anything here since long time...
It's a pity cause it's the best Linux distro for mining as ever!
The new PIMP is not bad but SMOS is much much better...
Hoping he won't stop to support it... and hope he's working for a new ver...
Scrypt is over for GPU and lot of new algos r coming out... we need support to make them running under SMOS...
Blake256 is a good example how much promising new algos can be for all gpu's owners... but it doesn't run under SMOS... :(

Hi,
I'm a happy SMOS user.
I keep 1-2 rigs with it, and let it donate at midnight...

My problem is that I've compiled another cgminer on it - for GridSeed - and now it's down after Your 15 minutes...
I have no problem to mine those minutes for donation, BUT I don't want to wake-up, replug the GSs, restart, etc..., neither to lose money!

Please provide a way to work around (I know how to disable donation, but I WANT to keep donate! I'm a good guy!)

So, if You answer before my night grumpiness takes over and fiddle with the cron, I'll be donating till the end of crypto days...

Thanks for the good work,

Yes, if it would be competitive to the ethOS, simplemining OS, Pimp
I used SMOS in LTC times 2013/14 on many rigs :-)

Doesn`t work, nobody is responding in support channel either.

Slack Channel is new support for SMOS because we had IRC channel on Freenode in past years and now we are moving to Slack.

SMOS Doesn't request Monitor and the message you sent is normal when you are booting LVM partition.
The LVM partition is set for SMOS to easy resize disk from 12GB to 120GB.

After boot go to https://www.smos-linux.org/readonly and you rig will appear if everything is okay.

@nshyamkrishna

It's doing the same way like all other Linux mining OS do with pp tables.
The new features included wattman like features are coming in kernel 4.17 and we will finally beat windows.

Does anyone want new version of SMOS? Maybe to support ASIC

Yes, if it would be competitive to the ethOS, simplemining OS, Pimp
I used SMOS in LTC times 2013/14 on many rigs :-)

I glad to hear, you will decide are we competitive.

@Bimmber
You can come back to Slack and we can try to mitigate issue together

First of all, it's great SMOS Linux 2.0 is absolutely free with no fee from developer, miner program fees may apply.

Have used nvOC and SimpleMining before and I've just moved my rigs from SimpleMining to SMOS Linux 2.0 for a test.
- 30x gtx 1060 turbo 3GB
- 3x gtx 1070 8GB
- 24x rx 570 8GB

As it's still early 2.0 version there were a couple of small bugs which developer fixed really fast, in matter of hours from time of reporting.

Mining works very good on all GPUs, no crashes at all for now. We had issues with one 1070 GPU crashing every couple of hours on SimpleMining, hasn't happen on SMOS Linux yet.

Also we have been getting bigger hashrate for about 3-5% with lower settings on SMOS Linux 2.0 although with a different miner called DSTM.

SimpleMIning (old)
1060 gtx 3gb turbo
clock 75
mem 150
power limit 110
fan speed 72
265-267 SOL/s on equihash

-----------------------

SMOS Linux 2.0
1060 gtx 3gb turbo
clock 75
mem 150
power limit 90
fan speed 72
278-285 SOL/s on equihash

https://i.imgur.com/I8Ztne6.png

Haven't tested ETH mining for now, but will write back with results. For now it looks good. DSTM miner is used on SMOS Linux 2.0 for equihash and it seems it has a no dev fee where ewbf-0.3.4b which is used on SimpleMining has been taking up to 10% of total shares as some users report.

I'll report more things as the mining goes.

Keep up the good work.

Nothing to do with OS, its because of the miner. EWBF is old and not developed for a long time now. Where DSTM is in active development.

I tried SMOS 2.0, but way too many bugs, too fresh, I`ll wait few more releases then try again. They don`t even have option for sol/s for ZEC, but kh/s.

I cannot afford to be faffing around with SMOS spending my time making screenshots to devs of whats not working, I need to be mining to make money.

I have been testing for last three days and I have some questions and suggestions:

1. Can you implement some dark template?
2. I would like to see my Rig IPs in read-only monitoring because it will be easier to switch.
3. Please add lolminer
4. Turn off the rig on the dashboard

Other looks impressive and if I found something else I will let you guys know.

Exactly what I said, it's because of a different miner - DSTM.

They have option for SOL/s.

Reported 3 bugs on their slack channel that were fixed in 2.0.1 update, works flawlessly on all rigs since then, gtx 1060, 1070 and rx 570, not sure what are you doing there exactly.

4. Turn off the rig on the dashboard

I think 4. already exists at the top right there's a button.

Thanks for clarification SpceGhst, that's right, you do not need a monitor at all. The notice is placed on a new website: "No need for windows, drivers and monitor. Just plug-in and mine!"

Can someone verify that v3 works on a H110+ Mobo?  Can’t get stick to boot.  Even tried bios updates 1.5 and 1.6.  Gives microcode errors at top of screen and drops out to emergency mode.  It’s not my download or my usb stick, as it booted fine on my Dell desktop.

It is weird but there are 2 SMOS, i know the SimpleMining OS, but looks like Simplest mining OS come before(topic from 2013).
But i think that SimpleMining is popular, is SimpleMining OS a copycat?

Does Simplest Mining OS have something to do with SimpleMining OS?

From what I understand, SMOS Linux was the original from several years ago, but team stopped development on it.  Somebody else picked up project and renamed it SimpleMining OS, which got shortened to SMOS.  Now, SMOS Linux is back with new version, though support team isn’t the greatest.

Do you have donation page because the system is free?
I suggesting that you should add old AMD drivers for the older GPU R series.

Anyways, very good job!

140.9 MH/s   108.6 MH/s   86 (83%)   18 (17%)   0 (0%)

SO 17% stale shares
dont think its worth it to install on 12 rigs
last updates where a long time ago

edit
these are the numbers on windows 10
141.1 MH/s   146.3 MH/s   131 (99%)   1 (1%)   0 (0%)

so 1 stale share here and only 1%
but more interesting is the ammount of shares

Hi Santapedofil

My rig is consist of:

PSU:
2 of Rosewill Computer Gaming Power Supply, Fully Modular 80 Plus Gold 1350W PC Desktop PSU, Silent 135mm Fan, ATX12V/EPS12V, SLI & Crossfire Ready - Photon 1350

MEMORY:
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz (PC4-21300) C16 Memory Kit - Red (CMK16GX4M2A2666C16R)

CPU:
Intel Celeron G4900 Desktop Processor 2 Core 3.1GHz LGA1151 300 Series 54W BX80684G4900

MOBO:
MSI B360-F PRO motherboard for mining use 18 GPUs

GPU:
Working right now
(1) Sapphire NITRO+ RX 470 8GD5 Mining EDTION - DVI - Samsung Memory
(3) Sapphire NITRO+ RX 470 8GD5 Mining EDTION - no output - Samsung Memory

Can't be install due to insufficient PCIe power
(7) SAPPHIRE NITRO RX 470 8GD5 Mining EDTION - no output - Hynix memory

THE ISSUE: MSI B360-F operate only 4 GPU - insufficient PCIe power!!!
So, I decide to use SMOS Linux OS

My Question: can the operating system SMOS operate RX 470 or not, since this card can mine only:

EthereumClassic   20.00 MH/s   $0.24134
Ethereum   20.00 MH/s   $0.23925
Aion   75.00 h/s   $0.19241

What's so difficult about installing and tuning an OS that you need a dubious mining OS as a crutch?

Ease...and efficiency.

I run a few hundred gpus and the ease with which a specific tool (mining OS) makes it so much easier.  I run ethos .... but there are a lot of good mining OSes.  Some even are free for small miners 8 cards or 2-3 rigs.

The more gpus and rigs you mine with the bigger the problem.
You can certainly do it your own way.  But there are a lot of advantages to dedicated tools.

i've tested your system with new 5600 xt. seems to be working pretty well. i'll see how it works for a while and possibly switch later on with ~80 gpus.

Thanks for the help around re-setup of another rig with 3x 5700 XT. Dashboard is awesome, clean and easy to understand. However I have a suggestion. It takes some reading to understand how to configure a miner profile to work with a specific pool. It also takes time to configure overclock settings. You could maybe make a small database of working configs for miners and overclock settings so a user can choose one with a few clicks. All in all, great work and thanks for the free credits!! https://img.imageupload.net/2020/11/14/LjXKcqa.png
