Title: Gui Miner Issue
Post by: bonsai99 on June 26, 2011, 09:12:58 PM
So here is my problem, I've tried 3 pool generating services and I can never seem to get any bitcoins,it seems to connect fine but I never get any "shares"

Also under summary>accepted it says 0 (0) which I am guessing is not supposed to be happening, please help!

P.S.(I'm new to bitcoins and I don't have much experience)

803k /h - your using your CPU and wasting your time and electricity.  save that money and buy bitcoins.

You're never going to get anything with that speed, and will just waste electricity. CPU mining is worthless at the mining difficulty we're at.

To put speeds in perspective, a ATI 5830 can put out 275Mhash/s (275,000Khash/s) depending on overclocking settings, and that's one of the cheapest "mining" cards out there.

To answer your question, it will take a LONG time to see the accepted number change. To put it into perspective, at 386MH/s I get an accepted hash about every 10 seconds. Assuming constant scaling, it will take 480 times as long for you to get one, which is about 80minutes. Since new blocks are being found about every 5 minutes, your chances of getting a share are almost zero.

What kind of video card are you using? If it is a reasonably modern ATI (best) or Nvidia card you can select slightly different options in guiminer and be mining in no time. Make sure you update your graphics drivers though, older drivers don't support OpenCL which is how the best miners operate.
