If you want to be on the safe side there is no other way.I really don't want to abandon this email address. The Gox email list ist out to the public and these addresses are valuable targets for any thief. They only need to hack into your PC and have a good chance to find a nice wallet.dat and get your bitcoins. Thus such attacks will never end. Try to detach every used service from your old email, delete it and get a new one. The earlier the better.
