Title: Who came up with the idea of Airdropping?
Post by: walou on October 24, 2017, 02:58:45 AM
Does anybody know which coin/token was the first to distribute coins/tokens free using airdrops?

I guess this is just designed to attract investors. Because off competition, it is not really easy to users by just mere advertising, some offer free coins in exchange of users depositing their money, the higher the deposit the higher the free token. But often than that, their are users who would acquire many airdrop from different coins, but also it is not easy for those tokens to be released in the market.

Probably CLAM.

My very first Airdrop was from Byteball. So I think Byteball was the first to start airdrop. But I could be wrong.
You are.

To my understanding it's clam as Lutpin said.

It was a coin that was created after Dooglus's justdice had to move away from BTC due to regulatory concerns. Basically you can "dig" BTC, LTC and DOGE addresses and get rewarded for having an amount of coin on your address at a certain block number.

Then afterwards, byteball did it. Then, everyone started to do it.

It's probably good to acknowledge Nxt as well. Nxt did an airdrop too for Ardor. 1:1 ratio of Nxt you own to Ardor. Now they're doing it again for Ignis "first child-chain of Ardor".
